I've just started thinking about multiboxing (since I was shocked by the power of a 5 shaman team seen online yesterday).
My question is quite simple and it's more or less an advice i really need from you. I don' have a machine powerful enough to handle a 5 chars team. My idea was an hybrid solution between hardware and software solution.
The idea i was thinking about was:
an apple macbookpro intel 2.4 Ghz (one client running) as master and 2 windows XP slaves (each with 2 WoW clients running), i know that the 2 PCs can handle 2 clients (they are both Athlon XP64 3500+, 2 GB, nVidia 7800 and 7900 GTS), probably with a lighted setup addon and resolutio-wise.
Do u think this setup will work somehow?
Trying to gather info around on your forums it seems that it may work, but probably someone had some similar experiences and can say something about it (just to avoid to start a war against my wife without a good reason). :)

actually, some people have been running keyclone on linux and apples as well, under windows emulators

the upcoming release, v1.8k, fixes the only linux-specific bug with setup... so that's some good news for the linux people

Basically i was thinking to use Keyclone on windows machines and Sinergy to link them both to the Apple (setting the Apple as server and both the PC as clients on synergy). Thoerywise it should work, but no idea if i'm right. Actually i'm typing from a train going back home and utill i'm back cannot do any test. Btw, some further infos. The machines will be wi-fi linked on a private internal LAN (wich is what i use to play everyday).
About budget: basically i wanna test my skill managing groups before thinking to any hardware upgrade. Once everything will be tested and confirmed i will buy the 2 copies of the game i need more to make a 5 toons team and the machines required, but i don't wanna do it in advance, so i must try to work with what i have.

I swear there is a secret wife book that gets passed along in meetings described as "shopping with the girls". I got veto'd on bringing two PCs down from upstairs and having 3 monitors on my desk, but in a strange change of attitude, she bought me an 8800 GT for Father's day. I smell a trap.

I did a small test: dual boxing on the same machine (the mac) thing went quite well even if i have to admit with some problems (after 15 secs I had 2 shamans going in totally opposite directions and i swear i was gettin more than nervous). The loot problem is crap, questing when there are items to loot will be a pain this way. But it was working in the end. Next step will be using 2 different machines. Ok i will buy the copies of the game I need for the combo later today (the disease is spreading). Thx for the kind support. I will keep u informed about the progress (if not too busy playing :) ).

I smell a trap.I've found that dealing with wife logic is a lot like dealing with our 2 year old. I give her choices and let it "appear" like she is getting what she wants.
Example: "I can either go buy a new computer, or you can give me your laptop to use whenever I want for multi-boxing" Sadly, this one didn't work out the way I wanted, but it works none the less.
