Exp in 5man vs raid group

I am new to multi-boxing, and doing it all on one PC with key clone. We have six accounts between two families, but I ran into a major show stopper for me today (only 2nd day).

So, I created six new gnomes, and had five with me (I was lead with 4 clones) and one player playing. We made a raid group, and I ran the six lvl 4 gnomes into broader Dun Murough to level em up.

We were getting only 6 exp per lvl 7-8 bear, boar or jaguar kill. We got only 9 exp per sickly gnome dude kills. Normally, without rest bonus, I think the level 8s give about 146 or so exp per kill.

So what's going on? Doing quests is impossible, and I can't do quests until DM - but at 6 exp per kill, something is wrong. Any ideas? Does a raid group get totally nerfed? If I do just the five, will there be a difference? thx for comments.

Raid parties get drastically reduced experience even if there are only 6 people in it. This is to prevent obvious exploits.

Try it with only 5 people in a regular party :-)

Yes, sadly Raid Parties do get a drastically reduced experience gain. To compare, I am running 5 toons and getting about 17-24XP a kill right now at level 9, on mobs ranging from 7-9. It's not bad and I know it will be picking up, but sorry to hear that you are only getting about 6 XP a kill. My only suggestion would be to drop one of the gnomes sadly to make the grind easier, and then maybe pick that toon and power level it up once you reach 70.

Mosts quests can not be completed in a raid as well. Drops will not drop and kill quests don't count. It will be a very long grind with 6 toons :)

Aye this is the exact reason you are mostly seeing 5-boxers, and no more than that
even though the xp sucks. questing is even harder with 6, you CANNOT complete any quest in a raid, except for quest that have (raid) in the questlog added)
