View Full Version : Does AoC and Keyclone work? Any combo?

I was just checking out some AoC links and it's pretty interesting. I was thinking about checking it out. The article in PC Gamer says that solo play is not easy at all past 20 in the game. I'd probably get a single copy at first to determine if I really liked it or not, but it would be nice to know ahead of time if it's possible to MB it. Has anyone done it successfully?

i tried but keyclone will not pass the keys for some reason, and it's so interactive as far as combat i dont think i'm ever gonna box it, well i shouldn't say that, a day may come. But the game is really nice, combat is different than any other game i have ever played

Reading this thread reminded me of the "What is the advantage of hardware over software?" thread that was running around a while ago.

In any case, if you're having problems getting your software to work with a new game my first bet would be to send a feature request to the developer (i.e. Keyclone).

Keyclone & AOC = true.

Worked like a charm for me, but I have not pursued it much. It's just tedious after macros were removed some patches ago. Maybe they are back again? I dont know.

Keyclone 1.8j - working with Age of Conan. Running three clients each on it's own Box.

Three Demonologists on Wiccana, Xnua, Cnua, Dnua and Three Tempest of Set Znua, Anua, Bnua

As far as game play? Only up to level 16 have not passed the level 20 content yet. So far, it's been a slow ride, really missing macros. Follow is broken most of the time, doesn't work with entering/exiting instances.

Keyclone only works if you have 1 computer per instance of AoC.

As far as I know, you cannot use Keyclone to play multiple instances of AoC on a single computer. It will not pass the keystrokes to AoC windows which are not the active window.

You can use HotkeyNet, or any multiplexor which can bring the window to the front before passing the keystroke to it. AHK (with extra coding) is also possible, but more annoying to use then HotkeyNet.

I picked up AoC on Sunday and played it for most of the day. It's pretty refreshing playing something new; however, the "mode" play is kinda of strange. A lot of the quests to run involved going into the "Night" mode which means single player, which means that there are no other online players involved. I don't see anyway in which you could multi-box that kind of setup. Granted, you don't have to go into that mode, but it sure plays out the story line doing so.

I'm mainly interested in the multi-box aspect as I've seen several comments saying that above level 20 solo play is out and it takes groups to be able to make it all the way to level 80. I kind of find this hard to believe, but you never know.

I started a bear shaman as the class has gotten good reviews here and other review sites as a good hybrid. I got my ass handed to me for the first ten levels or so though from not reading the manual. :cursing: I thought the bars showing up around the target with various strengths indicated "hit here" and as it turned out the bars represent where the target is shielding so you should hit anywhere but there in order to get around its defenses. All in all, the GUI is not that different from WoW with the exception of using the assigned keys for left, right or overhead attacks during combat.

The mature rating doesn't really seem to make that much difference except for the blood spattering and I just turned that off. I'm anxious to see some bared breasties, but so far have found none. :P So until then I'll just have to be content watching my wifes.

The graphics are good and entirely different from WoW. It's hard to say exactly. Most call WoW cartoonish type graphics, but I don't necessarily agree with that anology.

But all in all, like I said earlier, AoC is a nice breath of fresh air after having played WoW for almost four years. My goodness, has it been three or four years? Either way it's all time record for keeping me occupied.
