I am wondering how long it will take to get all five to 70 if they do EVERY quest as a 5 man group?

I feel especially slow, and want to see if anyone has tips on what quests to avoid and what have you.

I made a mistake and split my party between UD and BE, but I didn't recognize the the BE start area is BE exclusive until 5 or so... So my UD Priest and Lock were forced to only get the XP from kills.

All said and done all are level 10 now - after doing the BE exclusive quests and then the UD area a bit.

It took me about 9 hours... that seems long. I know that I was gimped by doing an area without actual quests, but I am worried that the group eating the XP is going to make this take forever.

Also - gathering quests become a crappy situation having to get 5 times the items for each quest.

Would it be better for me to just DoT grind the hell out of a place than to do all the gathering quests? Or is it best ot jsut DoT up everything while gathering?

I have autoloot on, so it's fast, but it is still a hassle.

What are you thoughts and experiences?

This is my 5-box setup, btw.... I am using Keyclone and one PC foer all 5 accounts.

Be selective about the Quests you do. Kill Quests are great for XP. Kill everything in between points A & B, time you spend running is time wasted, If you are gaining experience whilst running, its more efficient. Personally I don't think that the rule of "not doing ANY collection quests" is valid, you have to weigh up each quest on its merits.

For instance: You get 100% of the quest experience if the quest is (upto) 5 levels lower than your characters level. You also get experience for grinding critters' to get the items. As long as both these criteria are being fulfilled, why shouldn't you do these Quests? It'll save having to do rep grinds at a later date. The only obvious expceptions are the Quests that involve having to pickup loads of ground-spawning items.

You can also find some nice grind spots, or do some instances, its all up to you. With my groups i sometimes take up pickup quests cause its not that bad but some I dont do, depends a bit. Further more, killing does give xp just not a lot, but a lock team like that can dot and fear about a complete area :P. Try stuff out and pick the thing that suites you best

I am waiting fro one more level.. My toons are 12/13 now.

Once the locks hit 14, it's all on. Then its' SW:P, CoA, CoA, CoA, CoA: Cor, Cor, Cor, Cor, Cor - All while running. WTF will live through that? Once I get CoS, it's all over :)

Things have picked up for the group a bit since last I posted.

I was just worried that it would take me forever to do things. The collection ones, require me to switch toons to pick up the mats. Collect 5 turns into collect 25, collect 20 turns into collect 100! Switching from this toon to that toon.

As for the experience.
I have been Multi-boxing using 70s to drag up alts for a while. I have a Rogue I pulled from 24ish to 70 with the Shadowpriest doing the killing (Only quests I couldn't do are the Blasted Lands one where the guys are immune to magic). I then dragged up my lock from 60 to 70 using the same Priest. Then I used the Lock to drag my Mage from 60 to 70. That takes probably on whole less than a day longer due to NO downtime.

I've been doing a priest+4lock group and just hit 19. 1day4hours /played right now, so a bit more than an hour per level. I did all the quests in the UD starter areas and all the sub-18 ones in Silverpine (stopped at berin's peril).

On the other hand, I just ran Ragefire Chasm at 18 in an hour, so I was fairly happy for mostly nekkid longevity of these guys. :D

I have good experiences with instances where the trash is green. for example doing sm kath up to 44. The kills are faster, there is less danger of an accidental death and the overall loot is more.
Downside is: it is rather boring - but thats the way it is till 58.

Enjoy yourself - thats the most important thing,

Do your homework on the quests. The kill x mob for y drops x5 suck hardcore. I would avoid these unless the reward is worth it, or it advances a quest chain you want. Also normal mobs in a full group only give 25% of the xp if they were soloed where leet mobbers (instances) give full xp.

My 5box group is at level 63 at 9 days played time. I ground instances since level 10 to 58. From 58-63 has 95% Outlands quests.

Hmm...I did not realize instance mobs gave full kill XP. I thought they were divided just like outdoor stuff. And 9 days at 63 = win. I may just have to start camping instances.

[edit] OK, I just tried this. Solo 19 Deviate Guardian = 311xp. Group on same mob = 87xp. Were you trying to say something else and I misunderstood?
