Still playing? Changed classes/mains? Let's keep some kinda AoC discussion going here ;p How about...how many classes did you try before settlign on your current main? Pros/cons of each?

HoX was nice...extreme power, but squishy as fuck. Talent trees were lackluster at best and seemed to have no fucking clue what their focus was...it was like it had ADHD every tier, HAY FIRE MELEE BOOST OH WIAT LONGER TIME/DMG ON CTHULU-FORM, HURR DURR LETS ADD A NEW COMBO THAT DONT DO SHIT, O WAIT LETS MAKE MELEE GIVE YOU HIGHER MAGIC DMG...yeah, it's a mess.
Rerolled a Rogue...when stealth is available/works, the class is awesome. Oneshot ambushes, decent combos, no Sta-drain while hidden. However, in pve, outside of Nighttime single player, mobs will spot you a fucking mile away even with maxed Hide skill, AND with their fucking backs TURNED. Nice, but broken. Talent tree looked alright.
Rerolled to a Necro now...forced me to rethink my hotkey setup so I can use the alt+#s better...aggro is broken however and mobs ignore your pets even if you don't do a damn thing to the mob, and they run straight for you. The pet count system is interesting though and it's possibly the one class you don't need to melee with ever. Talent tree doesn't look too bad either

That's about it for me so far...others?

Ranger -> very powerful and easy to play.... whoever played an archer in another game will easily adapt to it (at lvl 36 right now);

Dark Templar -> seems fun, but at lower level in Tortage isn't the most powerful guy around; I heard past 20 it starts to get better (at lvl 11 only);

HOX -> extreme fun (one of the most fun classes I ever played in a game): I love this guy, fast grind, uber damage and squishy.... I die a few times per session but than, I usually fight 3+ guys/same lvl or higher (at 37+ and will probably become my main).

I started with a Conqueror, getting him to 23 before I rerolled a Dark Templar. I duo'ed with my wife's Priest of Mitra with the DT up to 40, but got bored with the gameplay.

I then rolled a Tempest of Set and absolutely love it. I just hit 60 and the AoE ability is insane.

My ToS doesn't do as much damage as my wife's PoM, but the AoE makes up for it. I also never run out of mana with my spec.

22 Assassin
24 PoM
22 Tos
24 Tos
20 Guardian
2 14 Necro's

In regards to stealth, there is a button at the bottom of the minimap shaped like a diamond(?) the lighter it is the easier mobs will see you, the assassin is pretty cool but sucks during the daytime because their stealth is easier to detect, other than that they do decent dmg and if you attack from stealth the mob is usually dead in 2 hits. I'm currently sick of the <20 zones , starting to work on a PoM main with a Tos backup, works really well, good aoe dmg, was playing last night and just destroying mobs non stop just using the weakest HoT and just melee'ing them (even lvl mobs) I found the Necro's extremely weak , and rangers at low levels are a pain. I was thinking of trying a Conqueror with a Bear Shaman as i have 2 at around lvl 8 that i could get to 20 in no time.

Pom with their knock back/AOE Damagae and then the Lightning strike from the ToS mows down mobs quickly though.

Level 47 ToS and a level 21 Barbarian. Both are great fun in their own respects and what they do, I just prefer to play my ToS with someone else and solo my Barb so if my buddies aren't on I play Barb. Been having to work crazy hours lately so I only get to play some and on the weekends.

I've got my ToS and PoM on Omm both up to 35, a 26 Barb on Omm another lvl 31 ToS on Dag and a lvl 25 Assassin on Bane. Once I can figure out how to get Keyclone to work with AoC, I'll be golden.

Before I started to Multibox AoC, I had a 42 PoM on Dagoth (PvE).

I now Multibox a Necromancer and ToS. It is quite a lot harder then just playing 1 char, imo. The opposite challenge of WoW, where Multiboxing made everything easier (even instances, thanks to PuGs being lousy).

Picked up the game on Friday. I've got a lvl 20 Tempest of Set on Scourge server - Zandantilus. It's a fun game, but feels very much like GuildWars, plus the subscription fee. I've tried a couple other classes to level 12 or so - Barbarian, Conquerer, Priest of Mitra.. and the Conquerer was a beast.

I'll try this for a month or two, but if the crafting system doesn't really impress me, I'm not sure if I'll continue to play once WotK & Warhammer come out. We'll see.. it's a shame there isn't a 'perfect' MMORPG out right now. GuildWars had the best PvP, although only arena-based. WoW easily has the depth and development for high replayability, but graphics and the crafting system are atrocious. Age of Conan is fun, but very similar to GW, and I haven't been to end-game yet.

I definitely don't see myself multiboxing on AoC any time soon, if at all - WoW is much better for that.

When's WoW 2 due? Or better yet.. Diablo 3? :) One of these days, the perfect MMO will be released..

Oh god there's so many maps and quests once you leave Tortage it's confusing as hell...I dunno where to go or where to start...but I eventually stopped in a zone and cleared out some quests + my journal's full...got like 3 lvls...and I still have tons of quests to do in the areas I've gone past already lol; the ONLY complaint I have about Post-Tortage: The non-Destiny Quest NPCs no longer have voiceovers. For some reason I can't bear to read half of the quests without a voiceover now...I just skim and skip through, whereas with them I read through and kinda got into the story lol

Hit 70 this weekend with my Guardian. The class is a freaking lvling machine once you get it down. At least for me it is. Pretty much going for lvl cap then I'll reroll a SIN i think, then after that i don't know a PoM maybe. I love the Guard, but not much is waiting for me at 80, meaning that all my friends are mid 30's. I'll probably pass by them again before they get to the cap. Power/Speed leveler at heart, just love to bum rush to the max, to do it all again getting faster each time. Oh and how I like the game, enjoyable when it doesn't crash or give me the WTF 10k lag spike. It will be more polished in a few months.

Playing on the Zug server, level 51 HoX. The talent trees need some serious work as stated already. Squishy, but high damage output. If you go in with guns blazing, you most likely will walk out. If you stop, think about what combos to use at all during a fight (with 2+ mobs) your dead. I've 3 manned the Sanctum at level 40 with a level 40 priest and a 40 conquer without any problems. The Heralds aggro is hard to judge though, 90% you won't pull aggro going all out if you let your tank engauge for 10 secs first. But, every now and then you'll grab aggro and be dead before you know you have aggro.

When raiding with a HoX, be sure to position behind the mob opposite your tank. You do more damage and you can almost see when you grab aggro.

This is all only based on Sanctum runs so far though, things may change once we start raiding the higher level dungeons.

Have a 64 guardian and a 64 tos I duo atm, but have rolled a new tos who is 23 now that I tribox apprenticed... That is until last monday's (17/6/08) patch.

Cant get 3 working together again, the 3rd client sits on 2-3fps all the time now :(

I've been three boxing for a few days now 3 Demonologist and just hit level 20. I know there now way this combo will work past 20 without a tank/healer. I was just testing to see if three AOE/Casters could clear anything at their level. There isn't anything in Tortage that slows this trio down.

If you could five box what class combination would your recommend to get to the higher levels?

I am thinking Guardian Tank, Priest of Mitra Healer and either three Demonologist or three Tempest of Set for DPS.

Thoughts?

Playing on the Wiccana server atm. the "unofficial" RP PvE server. Considering a PvP server to test out.

Ok After running 3x Demonologist to 20, and 3x Tempest of Set I think I am fairly certain TOS is the multibox group to go with. Neither require complex combo moves like the Melee classes. And the AE damage and HOTs the TOS put our are awesome. Going to pick up two more copies of the game tonight and see if I can get Five running.

I really wish there was a way to skip the introduction quests and get right to Totage though, if I have to wash up on one more beach and save a chained up whore again, I might go mental.

I might look over the Server thread again and see if this community has landed on a particular server yet.

ToS aoe was nerfed a bit on the last patch, teamed with a PoM they are still very good.

/I believe that lightning will only do splash? dmg on 3 targets now?

Ug you are right, I just tested it out, still good damage, but not nearly the 6-8mobs I could pull before and AE them down at the same time.
Hrmmm.... I was so toally sold on ToS too.

Currently lvl 53 ToS on Dagoth. Love the game so far. I am also authoring the EldarUI for the game.

Set up the Six Boxed ToS's on Wiccana. The group/follow issues was annoying with 3 but with 6 might just be a deal breaker. Would be ok if you can just park it in an instance and grind it out a bit, but the quests send you back and forth so many times in and out of zones. I dunno.

I JUST cancelled by 2-box subscriptions. As I had said in another thread I started, I'm going to play WoW with a new 5-box team until WAR comes out.

The game just isn't that fun.

Cancelled two accounts, back to WoW full time (not that I actually really left).

So much potential, so many bad, bad, BAD design decisions...

It's sad to hear (that the game has no staying power), really, but I'm not surprised. I didn't even get out of the beta before I was bored.

Funcom really just isn't good at this, imo. I've played a few of their games, and I'm constantly just WTFing about the decisions they make. I mean, I'm usually drawn in my diversity, but their diversity really just doesn't "work" from my perspective.

Oh well, hopefully WAR will be fun for a while, although I have no confidence that it will supplant wow in any way.

This is what happens when you spend all your resources doing voiceovers and purty graphics for the first 3/4 of the game. :P (at least, that's my take on it from what friends have been telling me)

Hmm.. My AoC account subscription date is the 12th, and I'm considering cancelling for now. I'm just having too much fun with WoW 5-boxing (especially after hitting 50, picking up Totem of Wrath!) and haven't played AoC in two weeks. It is a fun game when not compared to WoW, but it feels far too much like GuildWars (which is free) to continue playing right now. I'm looking forward to trying out Warhammer, but after the last few MMO's that have been hyped as a WoW-competitor and came up short, I'm not holding my breath. Honestly, future games may come down to how well they multibox for me, and AoC didn't seem as capable.
