you and your first multi-boxing setup

how did your first multi-boxing setup come about?

I already had 3 computers in my room before I even thought of multiboxing... a 4th is getting added today only because it's an older computer that I replaced at my work and it's going to be my browser/multimedia computer.

yea decided to make a poll because i am building another pc so i can multi-box with a better setup :) cant wait for parts to arrive

One of the benefits of beeing an IT-proffesional, I got all my computers from work. Just upgraded the gfx cards, and I was good to go.

When I first started multiboxing there wasnt much of software help, and I'm not sure if this forum had started yet. I started up with 5 computers, 5 wireless recivers connected to 1 keyboard.

Now I use a hybrid hardware/software rig. I got 1 computer/screen for each of accounts(5), but broadcasting is done via software (octopus)

I've been multiboxing for a loooong time, dating back to running LDoN instances with 3 toons in EQ1. I spent the past few years 2-boxing in WoW, then took the plunge to 5 accounts (3 puters) about a month and a half ago.

...uh...that's how my WoW multiboxing setup came about =)

I had an already pretty powerful computer that let me run 5 instances of WoW without a problem when I decided to try multiboxing.

Once I got higher level I found shattrah was impossible to go to, and that AV was horrible -- so I upgraded to better ram and an 8800 gtx and now my system does 5 fine at acceptable frames.

Used existing computer to dual box. Moved up to triple. Moved up to 5. Got new computer to run 5 well. :P

The screens are 26" and 20", the 20" is where I load up the alts. Four 800x600 windows fit perfectly in a 1600x1200 screen.
