This is a big thank you to everyone on this site that has helped me in my multi-boxing efforts.

This is my story so far.....

I initially had two accounts that ran on two separate pc's with no control software, that i mainly used to run my lower level alts through instances.

One pc is a Q6600, 4GB RAM, 15,000rpm 150GB raptor, 8800Ultra XT and 24" monitor.
the other is an Athlon 64 3200, 2GB RAM, 160Gb HD, X1950pro and 19" monitor.

My desire to get into this properly, was when I was totally decimated in AV by someone multi-boxing 5 shammies - totally unstoppable (needless to say we lost that match  )

I stumbled upon this site about a week ago and was fascinated by the enthusiasm and dedication of some of the people, so i decided to try running five of my own...

I wanted to run the 5x shammies, as that seems quite a popular and flexible at later levels, but the cautious person that i am, I setup another three trail accounts to experiment. I then found out that there are no alliance shammies on trial - as they are Bc only - DOH. I decided instead to try out running 5x warlocks.

I decided to go for the cute factor (female Gnomes with pink bunches) called them Agnomea, Agnomeb, Agnomec, Agnomed and Agnomee (originality is not my strong point sometimes :S ). A lot of people had highly recommended the keyclone software, so I purchased that for my two machines and spent the best part of 4 hours setting everything up. Initially I wanted to run everything off my main machine, as my other machine is a good few years old now, but in the end decided to run with the following: 4x accounts on the Q6600 each running 800x600 and my main on the Athlon running at 1280x1024. i decided to stick with my existing UI (ArkiveUI) as i'm very used to how it works, so i replicated the wow folder 4 times on the main machine for the clones to use (i will probably get some additional hard disks to spread these onto at a later date).

I read all the articles on macros and used some of the basic follow, formation, focus and target cast macros - which i replicated across all instances of wow.

time to go out into the real world... my Gnomes where in the harsh reality of Coldridge Valley, and what did I do first? pick up the starter quests? nah, I did what any multi-boxer would do... Go kill stuff  the joy of "one shotting" all the starting area mobs at lvl 1 is a joy in itself. spent the next couple of hours running some of the quests, getting used to the controll methods and got my locks to lvl 4 and finished the imp quest.. most of the reactions I had were "WTF" from the low levels in the area, one guy even created a Gmome the same as mine calling it Agnomef, and ran around with us for a while 8o .. I then decided that the collection quests where not for me and it was time for my Girls to hit the big time!! I ran them all the way to Ironforge (killing and basic questing on the way) then took them on the tram to Stormwind.

while running through Stormwind I had some idiot give the "look at the bots quote", so i gave him whispers (all individually from each character telling him in various lines that we had all been assimilated and resistance was futile) - so far the only negative I have had.

once we hit Goldshire the fun started, I got lots of comments from people, replying with different characters really throws some people, then doing a LOL on all at once, dancing etc.
The best bit which I will have to replicate (and do a screenie) was upstairs in the Lions pride inn when my Girls decided to do some bed jumping. people were coming in and out of the room and there where 5 pink haired Gnomes bouncing on the bed in unison, that was a definite "WTF" moment.. 8o

After 30 mins or so of "jumping" i decide it was time for a challenge.. I ran up to Northridge Staring area - completed some of the quests there to get them up to lvl 6 and trained up all their skills.. My challenge was the biggest one of all in the area... Hogger!!

Needless to say the Hog was no match for 5x Curse of Weakness, 5x Corruption, 5x Shadow Bolt Spam and 5x Imp fireball spam and he went down like the proverbial "sack of spuds".

So after all this I'm basically hooked... This morning I've ordered my 3x Battlechests (wow+bc) to upgrade my trail accounts, they should be here tomorrow :P . I might stick with the locks for a bit and see how I get on with them before starting on the shammies..

Once again, a big thank you to everyone who helped make my multi-boxing become a reality... Keep up the good work (i'll try and get some screenines of the bed jumping :P )

Welcome to the crew ;)

2 tips: I hope you invited yourself via "friend invite" for that free month and if you are not already using trinity bars, I would suggest a switch. They implent their own macros (unlimited, as far as I know) and best of all you can simply copy the WTF folder of your main to your toons and they are all set up (or from one of your toons to the 3 other, if you want the extra special treatment for your main :-)

Have fun! :P

Fortis, thanks for the heads up on Trinity bars, I'll definitely take a look at them to see if I can incorporate them into my existing UI setup.

As for the refer a friend, I have done that on my two current accounts and will be doing it on my third :P .. who knows, the other two might inspire me to go up to 7 or more!! 8|

Setting a goal of multi-boxing Kara.. now there's a challenge

also an extra hint

i see you mentioned copying the wow folder 4 times (perhaps moving to different hd's)...
DONT.
it has been proven that seperate wow folders only increases the HD Usage

playing all from 1 wow folder is a LOT!!11 quicker

5 folders i crashed when taking the zeppelin
1 folder every char loaded the new world in 2 seconds !

another option would be to copy wow 4 times, and using Symbolic Linking to 'copy' the wow/data folder
this creates a 'shortcut-link' between the folders, essentially making the harddrive only read data from 1 physical spot, and getting better usage out of your cache memory

search the forum on how to symbolic link in either windows xp or windows vista (different setups)

Hehe, sounds like fun. I did the same exact thing. completely forgot about quests for awhile as i destroyed the newbie area.

It might jsut be me, or jus8t my server, but people are really, really negative in stormwind. I moved my blueberries to darnassus area and havent gotton any negativty since (I want a kittah, so trying to get Darnassus faction as i level up, had nothing to do with the negativity). In stormwind i couldnt walk past the AH without 'BOTTER!' "Cheater!' "fag!' etc. pretty funny tho. People I didn't even know started defending me after a few days, guess they got tired of listening. weirdness. lol. Also, i usually heard the really negative folks complaining about getting owned by horde multi boxers later =0.

Anyway, glad your enjoying it. I really enjoy fanning out in formation when i see folks around and dancing with the blueberries. I get lots of 'your so cool' to balance out the negativity.

I run 2 folders - one for the main, one for the followers. This is because my Main account, which also stores all my "normally" solo'd characters isn't one I want screw around too much with in terms of settings, macros etc etc.

Also a Group composition tip.. swap out one of the Locks for a healer... any healer.

Priest will give good synergy
Pala / Druid will make a decent tank at endgame (pala is the king MB tank with no micromanagement required)
Shaman, group buffs will be good for you and can be healer or DPS depending on where you need him
