It would be very wise to read through the stickies for your basic questions, then to post in the actual new multiboxer forum please.
The wiki's real location is http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/
Your beginner's guide is http://www.dual-boxing.com/wiki/index.php/Getting_started
have a nice day

Now now guys.... remember you were all noobs once too.
EDIT - this link is probably a good first port of call http://www.wowwiki.com/Multiboxing
@ OP - you need to get one thing straight first up, you aren't going to find people in the multi-boxing community who will hold your hand for you and take you through the process step by step. Most multi-boxers are generally quite sceptical to people trying to get straight into the action without doing all their homework first, this is for a very good reason. Basically some of the things we do have the potential to be abused in ways which break the ToS (Terms of Use) for WoW. It can't be stressed enough, you must make sure you are 100% sure that everything you do is not in violation of Blizzard's ToS (the big wall of text which you agree to after every patch).
The best way to accomplish this is to read as much as you can from the wiki and forum stickies. I especially recommend reading the links to GM posts regarding multi-boxing. This way you'll also get an idea of what kind of reactions to expect from other players in-game.
I strongly advise against rushing in headlong without doing all the background reading, as it could easily result in account bans or suspensions. By the time you are done with this, you will probably have some more specific questions which you can search for on the forums, and if you dont find the answer then start posting for help. You'll get a much more positive reaction when you can show that you have made the effort to figure out the basics for yourself.
Good luck
*edit* can I get some of that popcorn now?

Codam is on the money here.
While, thanks to the many great people in this community, multiboxing has reduced in complexity significantly in the last 6 months. That said it can still be tricky to get up and running.
There is a lot of information in both these forums and the wiki already mentioned and I recommend you take a few days to read them. The community is very helpful to those who help themselves.
If you come to these forums with a question regarding something you have tried but are having problems with people will bend over backwards to assist you but if it seems that no effort has been expended on your part you are likely to be ignored or directed to the wiki.

*edit* can I get some of that popcorn now?Ya good advice, i personally spent a good 2 weeks researching and reading as much multi-boxing things i could. Which includes videos and podcast initerviews.
Then after that i downloaded some of the software and tested it out with warcraft guests passes.
About a month later i decided multi-boxing was for me and upgraded my guest passes to full accounts + expansion.
So all in all, it took roughly 2 months from thinking this might be cool to do to actually doing it.
It's not for everyone, having all these screens moving at once can be a little disorientating, my roommate got nauseous from just watching me play.
I was typing out step-by-step instructions, but really, if you don't understand what to do from the wiki, then multi-boxing probably isn't for u, the software is pretty straight forward, macros are tricky if u don't have experience with them.

having all these screens moving at once can be a little disorientating, my roommate got nauseous from just watching me play.I get like that too. The way that i have my setup is 1 monotor with 5 instances of wow on it (main is taking a big part of it and then i have the other 4 to the right side one on top of the other). Every now and then i look at the other instances of wow to see if my guys are still alive and didn't pull agro from a mob that i missed. I am power lvl with my rogue, and when i am running i look at the other instances and see my rogue, but i don't think it is my rogue at first so i turn my rogue around to get to the alts to kill the mob that i saw on there screen. When i get closer i notice it is my rogue and i am like WTF i just wasted 10 sec on this run to kill myself... lol.

You can't ask such a general question and hope that someone is going to spoon feed you.
Read the stickies, read the wiki, do a search.
READ.

Actually now that I came home from work and had a beer or two, I'm actually going to totally agree with Icetech on this one :P
Reason I was so nice was that the whole "grabs the popcorn" thing reminded me too much of the flamers on the official WoW forums where as we all know, everyone cuts everyone to shreds regardless... and I hate that.
Maybe the site needs a big fat banner on the portal page with something along the lines of QUESTIONS LIKE "OMG WHERE DOEZ I DOWNLOAD ZE WULTIBOX?" WILL BE IGNORED/DELETED

I really don't get how many people are encouraging this as opposed to the simple " Read the stickies, post in the appropriate forum" Which is perfectly polite.
It's just asking for more spoonfeeding posts when you actually do spoonfeed people.

the main problem is this thread isn't in the right forum.
spoonfeeding the noobies is ok, since most of use were young once (well, except maybe wilbur :D)
and as long as its in the noobie area, the rest don't have to worry about it
i'll move the thread to reduce the popcorn-grazing and reduce the temptation for you crusty old timers to pounce on the noobie sheep
:D
