I have just for the first time (shocking enough) had someone proud to tell me that they put in a ticket that I'm using third part software... what are the arguement points? What if this GM doesn't like multiboxers? Would someone give me some advise, going to bed soon and would like to have a better understanding of why we can use Keyclone for when I actually DO encounter this... Thank you much everyone! Sorry if I might have put this in the wrong area too... :S

Keyclone is not bannable...

As per Nog's recent suspension issue, a blue replied...

Q u o t e:
I'm not worried about my accounts being cancelled.

I'm worried about being suspended every time someone reports me for botting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not the way it works Nogeko.

Multiboxing - at least under current policy - is fine.

Automated gameplay - is not, be it one 5 or 10 characters at a time.

I haven't looked into your case - but I can say without even needing to - it wasn't multiboxing that caused this.

If you are confident YOU didn't do anything outside the Terms of Use - it is an excellent idea to make sure no one else has access to your accounts - and that your system is secure.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=6962998280&sid=1

In other words, no matter how much someone reports you -- you cannot get banned purely for multiboxing. If you do get banned, it will more likely be for some other cause -- account sharing, compromised (hacked) accounts, selling gold/characters, wintrading, botting, or any other number of nefarious deeds. As long as you follow the rules -- and the rules currently ALLOW multiboxing -- you cannot get banned regardless of how many times you are reported.

In other words, you won't get put into jail just because some random turd screams "REPORTED" at you for no reason.

No problem. :)

If someone causes you problems, remind them that while multiboxing isn't against the rules, YOU can report THEM for verbal harassment if they don't leave you alone ;)

OMG, I can't believe I'm still awake over this loser that reported me... I haven't heard anything from a GM... but know I'm still kinda second guessing myself... With Keyclone, is using Round Robin legit? I would do all the reading, but I'm very good at misinterpreting fancy writing... therefor I will wait for an answer from the guru's of Keyclone. Are there any features I should avoid using?

My advise to you:

Don't lose sleep over this.

Over time, there will be TONS of reports filed against you because "LOL YOU STUPID MULTIBOX HACKER THIRD PARTY PROGRAM IMABITWASTEOFOXYGENANDISHOULDHAVEBEENABORTEDATBIRT H".

Most of the time, GMs will pat the reporter on the head and tell them that they are an idiot. Sometimes GMs will come and talk to you to make sure you're not using anything other than keyclone. But for the most part, its simply over without any input on your part.

Happy hunting and leveling. And I hope you gank all his mobs. :P

Edit: Every feature in Keyclone is legit under the current TOS and EULA. Keyclone, as far as I know, does not publish anything that goes against the TOS and EULA. Feel free to use all the features of keyclone to its max.

CB is right... i avoid anything that would cross the line and be bannable. (round robin, dnp, keymaps, mouse maps, and the white-list are all translation filters and are well within the TOS... you still have to hit a key for anything to happen)

there are other programs that can help with mutliboxing, but their features provide for scripting capabilities... which are used by botting programs... and are therefore bannable

out of curiosity, what server/faction are you on? i think i'd like to roll a 5-box just to say howdy :D

heh, there's actually a thread on the General Forums about someone whining how MBoxing "isn't fair" and one or two other people chiming in on how
MBoxing software 'alters the exe etc'

It's scary and funny at the same time.

Scary because if people whine enough things get changed, (remember SWG?) and funny because the people stating these things absolutely have no clue how any of this works or what they're talking about.

One guy keeps arguing that MBoxing is Automation, because "You can hit ONE button and 5 clients will do an action" and he keeps quoting Dictionary.com about the definition of "Automation"

One button? He should read some of the threads here, where people are running 5 healers and have 5 different keys assigned to 5 different characters for 5 different character heal combinations FOR ONE SPELL.

He's obviously under the impression that you can hit the "1" key and 4 of your MB characters will just start casting spells, healing, meleeing etc etc without ever having to press ANY OTHER KEY, until combat is finished.

All the whining about MBoxing is:

1. Pure Ignorance
2. Whining because they are convinced their character should be Invincible, and they got pwned by a MBoxer
3. Jealousy because they can't convince Mom or Dad to buy them 4 extra accounts
4. Jealousy because they have the most BASIC understanding of a computer and would NEVER figure out how to MBox in the first place, and would freak out if they ever saw a DOS prompt.

would freak out if they ever saw a DOS prompt.

i have to point this out again, i had 3-4 ppl following me today in the dwarf starting area, the were like hackzors! then logged out ....

I get reported so often it isn't even funny. My server has been Multibox free of anyone that boxes over 2 characters for quite awhile.
Recently however there have been a few that popped up other than myself, two others, one horde and one alliance, but the server is quite ignorant when it comes to multiboxing.

The stupidity is amusing and worth going along with sometimes, but sometimes you just want to pull out a gun and shoot them.

"are you guys like brothers playing together?"
"woah you guys have like the same names! thats so cool! I wish i had friends i could do that with"
"cheapasshacker! enjoy your ban!"

Keyclone can not get you banned as you are not editing the wow interface or hacking the game.

All keyclone does is send signals to each program that is open and running inside keyclone. That is not a bannable offense.

In game you are using macros which EVERYONE uses so it too is not bannable.

Don't trip on the haters. I get reported all the time now and I even tell the GM's to message my main cause i am boxing. Sometimes they appear to just check it out as I pwn ally. :D

After a couple of threats and hate, you'll get over that uneasy feeling. If you talk to a GM, just be honest about everything, make sure GM is fully aware about multiboxing and move on.

On my server, there are 2 other multiboxers and I still get the occasional crap from other players. I just respond to that I enjoy talking with the GMs and put them on ignore.

If you're super concerned and losing sleep IRL due to this...

...report yourself to a GM. Open a ticket, explaining that you are a multiboxer and that you are concerned that the actions of uneducated peer players that are reporting you. Ask them if there is anything those players can do that can mistakenly get you banned even if you're not breaking the rules.

I've personally gotten a GM to admit to me that once they know someone is a multiboxer and that they are not botting they put a "flag" of some sort on your account so that future GM's will know that you're just multiboxing. Granted, they still have to investigate you (just in case you ARE botting), but as long as you're not doing anything wrong they won't bother you. :)

If a GM tried to talk to me every single time some dummy player reported me I'd be spending all of my gametime chatting with GM's. Thankfully the GMs are more courteous than that and I have never been pst'ed by a GM out of the blue. :)

I've been playing wow since December 2004... multiboxing and non-multiboxing... and have never once been contacted by a GM in game. It's an urban legend for a GM to appear on the screen for me. I feel neglected... lol.

What if this GM doesn't like multiboxers?
I hope nobody mentioned this already BUT one thing is for sure -> no Game Master would ban you just because he doesn't like you. He has to act on blizzards policies and it may happen (as rarely already reported in the past) that a multiboxer gets banned but that was until now always temporary and a mistake from the Game Master himself including his direct superior so don't worry. As Vyn already mentioned you shouldn't bot or even consider it because this is what gets you banned for sure and very quick which draws a bad light on all the other boxers.

Just wanted to clarify that a bit. I didn't mean to accuse you of botting or the intention of botting. :)

This is where corporate policies and separation of duties actually works out in your favor. Take the hypothetical ban and call customer support.

Fortunately, you don't have to.

i understand how you feel - the first time i got flamed on my locks i was about to log out and switch to a rogue. i had gotten alot of love that day and then got totally flamed by this other warlock. all the usual - hacker, power leveling service, character seller, cheater, loser, etc.... then real nasty stuff i won't type here. i replied " well my my...isn't this awkward...bye now" .... i ran off, figured this lock was sore about me laying all the mobs to waste...i usually step aside not to hog the spawns and piss people off because i don't really want to argue with people all day...at any rate... i ran off and up a hill, and initiated a log out when she comes back , cursing me out "yeah that's right you better log off before the GM i contacted busts you, you p***y f*****t .... i wound up staying on for over 45 minutes than i wanted to because i felt if i logged they would have felt they were right and i also did not want to miss the GM.

i've grown a much thicker skin with this now..i've learned to keep it short. "multi boxing is not an offense but harassment is. i have screen shots of all this (i always do). bye now"

two nights later i'm in hillsbrad on a 70 rogue trying to get pearls from the murlocks for 4 pairs of spidersilk boots. who do i see but the same warlock.

i ride down the road and i see this amazing pally - alliance. this pally is real good...later that night her and a resto druid were fighting 5 of us at once. but at that point her and i just danced hahha... i was so tempted to /followme the pally, lead her to the lock, /point and /beg. but it felt too dirty and childish to do heh heh.

you will get used to this. i didn't realize how bad it could get...just try to let it go and move and don't flip on people, make sure you are always in the right, get screen grabs of their insults and you will be fine.

I've come up with a pretty good way of slowing down the "OMG, I'm gonna report you" comments. I created a guild that all my toons are in call "OMG Report Me" That seems to have shut most of them up.

Actually - only if they do something to all of your characters that warrants a report. If they harass your main in tells, you can only appeal them on your main. Reporting on them on your alts as well could eventually get you in trouble.

I expertly flame bait them without insulting them once till they call me a fag or some other retarded insecurity based bullcrap, then report them to a gm and get them suspended.

Blizz no likey homophobes, and it is the one attempted insult every idiot will revert too once they are out smarted, which is easy to do.

I may screeny the next time I do it for lols.

You should point out that with the NIA you don't even have to press one button, you can just THINK him to death.

multi-boxing just sent my altoholicism into overdrive ;)I'm on Draenor and it is semi-friendly server. Met some players who are really friendly, and met some with hostile attitude. Like: reported, hacker, no-lifer, /spit, .... (from horde side). Alliance is much nicer tbh: they only /salute, /wave...specially if they are pvp enabled. But probably thats bc im horde ;)

Bliz being the sneaky folk they are - probably have GMs that can see the difference between botting and multiboxing, and i'm willing to bet they sit while invisible for a bit and watch how you move and interact. It's possible they do act on every petition sent against you, but likely only watch you for a bit to see what they think.

Either way i did a lot of reading here about whether people were getting in trouble for it or not, and the numerous testimonials convinced me to go for it.
