Hey so i have been useing KeyClone for awhile on WoW but i got tired of that and moved to EQ1 ( needed a fix from the old days )...

I have 2 everquest 1 accounts and only 1 computer btw... ( My comp is a duel core, with 4 gigs of RAM and a 86oo gts 512mb )

I followed these steps for setting it up for EQ2 thinking that it may be the same....... Guide to getting Keyclone to work with EQ2 ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=16901&highlight=#post16901').... But it didnt not work for me......

Could someone that has done this with success please explain to me how i might be able to do this? Any Help will be great :D

Thanks alot!

I am surprised you think you need key clone for 2boxing EQ1 on the same PC.

I was able to 2box EQ1 running both accounts on the same PC for many years with no additional software except EQW (eq windows) in the old days and then after they brought out some expansion or other that allowed you to run multiple instances without any additional software at all. I used Alt+tab.

Combat in EQ1 is slow enough that its easy to switch between toons without any real effort - sure its a little more work but even then its still slower in pace than WoW.

Go for a good toon combo and you should be able to do everything with just alt+tab.

Some that worked for me were......Warrior+Cleric - Enchanter+BL - Necro+BL......

EQ1 is still my favourite MMORPG, but I had to switch to WoW simply because I was sick of hugely under populated servers....99% of the time I was playing I was the only person in any given zone - A massively multiplayer game needs more than one player if you ask me.....

For a game thats so focused on the "group" to level - I did 40 levels in EQ without grouping with anyone just before I quit and it wasnt by choice. As I said - its still my favorite system but it isnt much fun playing by yourself.

And dont forget to setup a linux box to run ShowEQ on... best thing EVER for that game.. i wouldn't have played it near as much as i did without it:)

I've always had an itch to go back and try out EQ1 again playing a bunch of characters, I think letting the nostalgia sit in the back of my mind is better though :)
I wish I could be of more help on the main question at hand, hopefully someone else knows~ ShowEQ though is against their ToS btw Ice, shhhh on that one :)

I couldn't get keyclone to work with EQ1. Finally gave up and went with hardware solution.(6x machines and a multiplier) Then switched to wow. Will probably go back tho, eventually.

But yeah, with only 2 chars, you should be fine with alt tab. Might also consider picking up a N52, best thing i ever did for that game. I made a key to alt tab on my nostromo, so i could switch to my second toon and cast a spell and switch back without repositioning my hand. I suppose an x-keys stick would work too. If ya go to an extreme number of chars (i was doing 6) the tabbing gets really, really crazy. 3 machines with 2 chars per machine, the central machine controlled by kb, the two other machines by nostrmo, i basically ended up alt tabbing with my right hand while my left hand hovered over teh two nostromo's to cast heal, reslow, restart bard melody, nuke with the magician...

Keyclone would have been nice. But I don't think its possible to get it to work with eq1. Maybe the guy that makes it can code around it, but I dunno. Damnit, my pal/priest/mages are only level 29, and you have me wanting to go back to eq. curse you for mentioning the eq. LOL. why do I feel like a quitter for going to wow? /confused.

I used to 4 box Eq back in the day on 2 machines. Ran a necro, shaman, ranger (tank) and druid team. Lots of dots, and root for cc and snares and slows. Could have 3 pets out (druid pet sucked though) as well. Ranger was a agro monster, and with mobs slowed, crippled and dotted all to hell healing wasn't a problem. Now your making me want to go back and play again.
