Reinstalled windows, need to re-get license while i have my code. (Keyclone)

I just downloaded Keyclone again, had to reinstall my computer. When i open the program it says re-check or Get License. But i know my XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX code. Is there any way i can write in my own key or what?

I dont have my code for my first keyclone as I did not write it down. Does this mean I am screwed?

nah... all you need is your email address and i can locate the old system-id and transfer it over.

just drop me a note with your email address and new system-id and i'll have you going asap.

Why does the Keyclone need to be programmed to require this key in such away? I find it very odd that the second it opens it tries to connect to the internet to check the liseanse key. windows blocked it, but not before I saw somehting about paypal pop up. When I Downloaded it, I was under the assumtion this was free, not a paid subscription. I also assumed that it was capible of helping with multi-instancing on 1 computer, which would not require connecting to the internet, or going over the LAN to connect to another computer.

Well first of all, my computers are connect to each other on a LAN (local area network) so they shouldn't need to connect to each other through the internet.

I was wondering why the software requires connecting to the internet upon opening it and why it seems to require payment. I saw a paypal thing popup right before window blocked the software from connecting. I was considering running 2 instances of WoW on 1 computer, and as I have heard, this is called multi-instancing. This would not require having the software connect to the internet, much less send informaiton over the LAN. It feels like a security risk when it has to send my key's I push, over the internet. It starts to feel like a keylogger.

If I started to use both computers at one time, I would only need the software to send the keys I pushed, to the other computer over the LAN, not over the internet. And if I am going to use the softwar to multi-instance on one computer, I don't need it sending any key's anywhere except to the other instance of WoW.

So why do I even need the software to be sending information over the internet in the firstplace?

I also noticed that when I installed mine, it started out with an expired lisense? What is up with that? And then as a read on the board, I see things about how a person moves to a diffrent place, and gets the very same "expired lisense" issue. That rams a BIG red flag of keylogger risk right there! Why would it even need to have it's lisense renewed from start up and from changing locations? It should come with a valid and current lisense at start up, and should not require a new one upon geographical change, interet connection change, much less IP address change.

None of these things make any reasonable sense. All of it begs of security risk!

you would be correct... if it were free... which it is not. this is fairly obvious by the glaring 'LICENSE EXPIRED' message you received upon start up. beyond that, the main page states it about as clearly as possible... dead center of the page. the credit card logos would be another hint

as described in the FAQ, upon started, keyclone will request authorization from Solid ICE before proceeding. if authorized, it will then pull the message of the day, which notes the current version number and some of the various modifications. this would be the only time it will hit the net (unless you hit recheck, or select one of the FAQ options from the tool tray.. which will take you to these forums)

also as described in the FAQ, keyclone is node-locked... if you change your machine.. either some hardware or OS changes, not your geographical location, your system-id MAY change. at that point, you would need to transfer your license to the new system-id.

if keyclone were a security concern, i doubt highly that i would have my company name associated with it... let along my real name. if you don't have a clue where you are getting your software, free or not, i wouldn't recommend using it.

and btw.. other applications that are free, do send data across the net.. constantly.. while you run... reasons unknown.
(and yes, that would be a concern)
