Looking at prices of the xkeys 128 key and was thinking of making it into a normal keyboard with side buttons etc on one unit. Question is, will it have the response time like a normal keyboard in ps2 or usb? Say I bind on of the keys to tab, will it be as fast if I hit tab q on the xkeys than the normal keyboard, and will it be practical enough? thanks.

I use xkeys professional for my raiding priest and i set it up so that it transmits the whole text of the cast, rather than just bind it to a key.

I don't notice any problems with speed at all.

Hope this helps

The Xkeys has an industrial feel to it. Much like a retail checkout keypad, it seems rather durable. The key travel is larger than most standard keyboards so it would effect your typing skills somewhat (just have to retrain yourself). It is as fast as any standard keyboard. The only limitation is how fast you can mash the long travel keys.

I use the Xkeys pro and an Adesso mini keyboard to save desk space FWIW.

You could always just buy the matrix board and wire up something custom too.

When setting up the matrix board, are the keys basically free standing and you have to find a way to put them somewhere? Also, are they the normal key size, say if i wanted to wire a reg keyboard to a matrix board.

Matrix board = you supply your own keys. Whatever ones you want.
