well, im trying to use this old computer

Intel Pentium 3
128 MB of ram
18.5 Gig HDD

it's not like im trying to 5-box on it, but it is extremely lackluster
since i quit WoW, i've been playing a lot of Runescape because it's free and actually pretty fun :)

BUT.... I downloaded the client for runescape and when i run it, it takes up 99% of my proccessor...

this seems very wierd and i was wondering if there was a way to not make it use so much memory without buying more RAM or anything because i don't think i can even buy any RAM for this computer

You are going to find it very, very difficult to do anything on this computer. There is no amount of tweaking in the world that will make XP do anything but have screaming seizures of page file thrashing at 128 MB of RAM. God forbid you try to run any applications!

Right now on my machine firefox is using 115 MB, Acrobat is using 130 MB, and Thunderbird is using 64 MB. My full memory load is just over 900 MB.

I say retire the poor thing and move on. I admire and share your urge to suck every bit of life out of computer equipment, but I think it is time to let this one go.

I would recommend looking into linux, some versions on linux are great using hardly anything as in resources.
