View Full Version : Keyclone - Jerky movement.

Did a few searches, came up with nothing.

I play 5 characters at once on one pc (shock). I can be attacking, sitting.. dancing.. be in shattrath... no jerky play, nice smooth gameplay. But the moment I do a circle (any movement that turns all of my 'clones' screens) my fps (doesn't drop) but it stutters like crazy. Like it is having problems trying to render everything. I naturally turned every graphic option down, nothing changed. I checked to see if my pc was overheating, nothing out of the ordinary.

I accidentally closed Keyclone while I was moving and the problem went away. I loaded keyclone up again.. stuttering/jerky movement (when moving camera angles - circles).

Usual Hardware,
Q6600, 8800gtx, 4GB RAM etc etc
(I play all my characters on one monitor)

Might not even be keyclone at fault, I'm personally just hoping it is a configuration error. (lol user error :D RTFM and all)

Kind Regards,
Kayley

Had this happen on "h" version, the whole screen stutters even though fps says 60fps and I noticed it happened most when I did key presses especially when either right click-down while steering, if was going straight it was unnoticeable. It would happen every time I pressed my clone follow button. I think it went away on "i" version.

Yeah, it only happens when turning while using the mouse to steer or look around while moving. I'm not sure which version I'm using, latest I think. I've just had to make do with keyboard turning for now :P

please confirm the version number you are using.

you should be on v1.8j

if your issue is that your windows are jerky... as you spin all windows at the same time... i would guess that is an issue with wow providing the rendering on the machine.

try this... run all 5... put WASD on DNP.. show the FPS... then spin a single window. do it with the mouse... see if your fps drops (as it should)

not, push the left arrow... spinning all windows at once... and you'd get the jerkiness at that point. my guess is that its wow rendering 5 wows at once.

There is no stuttering when I did what you said. My fps drops by 2 when I spin them all in circles on the spot.

Problem: Hopefully better explained.

If I am moving (forward/back) and I turn via mouse (right click) it stutters. If I am moving and I turn the camera view with the left mouse button (while moving with the A,D key), it stutters (not as much as if I was moving all the characters in a circle). If I close down keyclone and keep every one on follow, I get no stuttering when I turn via the mouse. I originally thought I was somehow creating too much info being sent to all the 'clones'.

The part that confuses me is. If I mute Keyclone, I still have the problem. It ONLY goes away when I close keyclone. Something on my system (or maybe I set Keyclone up wrong - although there isn't much to set up :P) doesn't like what is going on.

I have Maxfps set to 40, maxfpsbk is 15. The clones have their graphic options turned to the lowest possible.

Weird eh? :/

EDIT
Xar's old problem sounds like mine. Only it hasn't gone away T_T

hmph... please make sure you are running v1.8j and not a previous version.
also, please make sure you DO NOT have 'pass mouse clicks' checked

other then that.. when you turn using your mouse, keyclone is doing nothing to pass keys to another other screen. it does check if your mouse has moved to another wow window, but that is a very quick check.

do you have anything in the mouse map?

what type of machine are you running? cpu/ memory/ grfx card

1.8j :)
Pass Mouse Clicks is unchecked.
Nothing is in my mouse map.

'Usual Hardware,
Q6600, 8800gtx, 4GB RAM etc etc
(I play all my characters on one monitor)'

I have the latest video drivers etc too. I'm just confused atm :)

is 'focus-follows-mouse' enabled? try unchecking it

you could also try exiting keyclone.. and renaming your keyclone.ini file (effectively resetting your settings to default like a clean install)

let me know if that changes anything

Focus Follows mouse wasn't on.
Resetting my settings didn't help.

Thanks for your help in the matter so far :)

Should I try and find and older version of Keyclone and give it a go?

since this has never been reported before and i have no idea what is causing your issue... i can only imagine any version would do the same.

personally, i cannot imagine how keyclone would be involved... with no focus-follows-mouse, no mouse-click-passing, and no mouse-maps... keyclone isn't doing anything when you are moving your mouse. you have supposedly insured you are on v1.8j... have removed the keyclone.ini file to reset your settings... and you have a quad core. and supposedly, with all your wows running, and just exiting keyclone, the jerkiness stops..

even my single core amd 2.2GHz running 5 wows at once has no issues like you describe.

try hitting override... then turning. same jerkiness? at that point, since keyclone is not passing or processing anything, i would suggest it's something else you have running on your machine

Hitting override stops the jerkiness.

Load up your WoW clients, go into the options.. turn off hardware cursor. hold down the left/right mouse buttons and walk with ASWD. I get the jerkiness like crazy then - I also see the mouse cursor up on all the WoW clients. I turn hardware cursor on, I still get problems although not as frequent and the wow cursor doesn't appear on all screens.
If that does nothing, I'll just try a fresh install when I have the time and let you know :)

Take care,
Kayley

hmph... hardware cursor off... still getting 25/5 outside of orgrimmar and no jerkiness

i'm on a single core amd 2.2GHz w/ 3G of memory and an 8800GT OC @ 1280x1024x2 ... 2x2 on one monitor and my main on the other.
in horizontal span... there is a thought. you using dual-view or horizontal span?

I'm only using one monitor :(

Bleh, I was kinda hoping that would recreate the problem for someone else. It really must be something I have installed on my PC conflicting with Keyclone. I'll poke around and let you know if I find it :D
Thanks for your time :)

no problem, anytime. it's just frustrating if i can't resolve your issue. any information you can give me would help limit the possibilities

i'm going through keyclone now looking for anything i may be doing that could be impacting your performance.
nothing yet... but i'll keep looking. hopefully i'll find something and v1.8k will work better for you

Hello again ^_^

1.8k and the problem is still there :(:(

What is happening is something from Keyclone (I have no click mouse etc etc enabled) is messing with my mouse :D
I will turn (keyboard turning), my clones will turn.. there is no fps drop - it is just my mouse cursor that stutters. (Which is why my screen will stutter when I'm using the mouse to rotate the camera view)

I run in a straight line, move my mouse. No stuttering. I start turning in circles, the mouse stutters. This happens with 1, 2 , 3 , 4 and 5 clients running.

Kind regards,
Kayley.
