Hi.. Im supernew to this dualboxing thing, but ive got a question.

why is my fps so mega low (10-15) on both acounts.. I got a intel quad core 2.4mhz 4gig ram Nvida Gforce 8800 GTS 512mb ram (is there anything else u wanna know :S)

and im running one of the accounts on core 0 and 1 and the second on 3 and 4.

and i got every graphic on megaduper low and i use 600x800 res ingame... I mean It shoulndt have to be that low then?

I'm aware of that u guys might not be able to answear this, but if I need to fill in some ohter info for ya, just tell me. :)

oh yeah, Im using Windows Vista home premium x32

Just posted a reply to a similar question here:

More than 4GB Memory ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&postID=68381#post68381')

Looks like you already have the graphics set to low and some processor affinity going. Since you only 2-boxing I would suggest running one WoW on core 3 and the second on core 4. The reason is that windows usually runs on core 1 and 2 and assigns applications which aren't multi-core aware to either core 1 or 2 as well.

In regards to WoW installs, usually running from the same folder is faster then running from 2 separate folders. Using 2 WoW folders with a Symlink ('http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NTFS_symbolic_link') from the second account to the Data folder of the first is also good since you get to keep separate settings for each account but the data files loaded into memory are the same.

Type /console maxfpsbk 20 ingame on both windows first off, that'll make an instant difference.

Secondarily, try running them at NOT low settings...surprisingly, having settings too low can be just as bad as having them too high; some games actually do run better when turned up vs turned down. Toy around with various settings till you find something that works; just bear in mind if you're in a super populated area like Shatt at the banks or if/sw/org, the fps will drop even with a monster comp cuz it's simply alot of data to display and keep track of. 15's still low for that though with your rig

I'm not too computer savy but I'd definitely have to say get more Ram. .5 gigs is too low for even one account imo. For dual-boxing I'd probably get more like 2 gigs. Newegg.com has some great deals on computer parts.

Hi and welcome :)

could you please tell us how many screens you're running and what s/w you're using for keypassing?

Sorry, you are a bit off.

512Mb ram on gfx card is more than enough.
-edit-

Im running this system, 5-"boxing" on one computer.

-Intel Core2Duo E6320
-4x512Mb DDR2 PC5300
-1x200gb WD 16MB Usb2.0 HD (Contains all 5 WOW Clients, Separate folders)
-1x80gb WD 8MB System disk
-1x250GB Seagate SATA 16MB
-NVIDIA GeForce 7600GS Pci-E 256MB
-Windows XP SP3
-Acer 19" Widescreen

My setup is 1 "main" screen to the left, and 4 slaves on the right part of the LCD.
Slaves running 800x600, lowest GFX Settings.
Main running 1024x768, Medium settings.

Average FPS is ~25 pr wow client, running smooth.

As for TBC i dont know, as im still leveling the poor clan.

I have a hard time believing that you are running 5 boxes, especially the slaves at 800:600, unless you have them maxfpsbk at 1.

2gb was not enough for me when I was going through major cities, do the math though. WoW requires a minimum of 512mb, your running 5 of them, addons take up more, I'd say at a minimum for multiboxing you should have 3gb.

512mb
512mb
512mb
512mb
512mb
(256mb)XP
(1024mb)Vista

So
3.5 for Vista
and
2.75 for XP
MINIMUM.

Anyways, I'll need screenshots of leggs comp to believe him. Mainly because my old comp had barely any differences to his set-up.

My old comp:
Intel Core2Duo E6320
-2x1024Mb DDR2 PC6400
-1x250gb WD 8MB Sata (Contained all 5 WOW Clients, Separate folders)
-1x60gb WD 8MB System disk
-NVIDIA GeForce 7800GS Pci-E 256MB
-Windows XP SP3 (Never used it while playing)
-Acer 22" Widescreen

EDIT:
Reading his other posts I figured it out, he was doing the same thing that I used to, the in game size is set to 800x600, but he resizes them all the way down as far as they go. Which did work for me, but I like seeing.

read my edit, I believe that it does work, but the windows aren't really running at 800x600, that's why I didn't believe you.

Sorry, my net is faster than anything at the moment. didnt see a edit, had enough problems ACTUALLY posting :P

Its 800x600 resolution, tho zoomed out or whatever its called.
Takes less resources.

Tho still impressive imo to run at my hardware, especially the gfx card :P

My clones only take up 200MB ram each. And my main takes 300mb cause I've got alot of addons. :/ I'm running fine at the moment with only 2gigs of ram.

I have the exact setup as the OP minus 1 gig ram.

I run 3 accounts at 1680X1050 windowed w/full graphics settings in wow on all 3.

I average 40-50fps in Shatt and SW and 50-60 outside of the city. I even hit 60 FPS in the city at some times. Someone was bitching in general chat about low framerates and I mentioned I had 3 accounts high res full graphics sitting at 60 FPS. This was in SW during the weekend.

I've never used Keyclones options to reduce the FPS of slave accounts. I dont use Keyclone for multi screens. I keep a very very clean computer, every 30 days I redo my comp with a hard drive clone, get the latest updates and re-clone.

My specs:
Main WoW running in C: 2 slaves running in partitioned e: drive.
3gig cheap Ram
GeForce 8800GTS 512
WD 500gig SATAII Drive
Q6600 processor
PK5-E Asus MB
Vista 32 home pre

EDIT: Try and run both with NO AddOns and see what FPS your getting.... also, if your ok with this, try and yank 1 gig of ram out of your box, 32 bit OS only supports 3gigs. There MAY be a conflict in there somewhere, i dunno, not an expert.

The problem aint the hardware. Unless some of yer memory went south.

yeh got vista 32 so more memory wont do yeh any good.

What else are you running? theres not enough info to really go on. Yeh got multiple monitors?

Yer hardware should be able to run more the 5 instance with breaking a sweat.

Only thing I can suggest that might help is doing some research on setting up vista for performance. Look into killing aero.

another thing if this box came with a bunch of preinstalled stuff yeh might wanna look into decrapifying it all that stuff bogs down yer pc
