View Full Version : Class you've had the most fun leveling?

Just wanted to take another approach at multiboxing and find what others have found to be the class they've enjoyed leveling the most. Perhaps it might not be the best at 70 but the journey was awesome!
For me it's a tie between Hunters and Priests, hunters are the lean mean grinding machines of WoW and stick a few together and you've got a happy meal! Priests have one of the most amazing mechanics in the game if your shadow and you stack them. Having an endless supply of heals and almost endless supply of mana makes it a very enjoyable class to have fun with.
So let's hear it! which class do you love leveling?

I'd probably go with Mage because of frost slowing, and free water, or paladin while leveling in plaguelands due to undead vs paladin = pwn. Also the bubble and heals were nice, but in the end, mage was the most fun and I think one of the best to level in outlands since you can solo most of the 2/3 man quests.

I've loved levelling all 3 of my 70's.
My warlock was my first toon, so I made loads of mistakes levelling (so it was quite hard). After discovering affliction it was easy mode.
Drain tanking 3 - 4 mobs the same level as you, killing them and having close to full health and mana for endless grinding was awesome.
Then of course the coolest looking pet in the game the felguard.
My second 70 was a hunter... Beast Mastery. I would say it's easy mode. I managed to get to 70 without much thought. Took out elites with ease and rarely died. Did all this without really having to develop any of the skills of a hunter (such as kiting). Learnt them afterwards.
My hunter was on hold, but I took him through kara on his second full run, and despite being pretty poorly geared he gave a good solid performance.
Ah, now, my third 70 my shaeman. I enjoyed levelling him. A completely interesting class. Such utility in later levels, and I levelled with a friend to the mid 40's. Two enhancement shaman can cope with just about anything. After that solo levelling and it was pretty good.
I switched to elemental on going to outlands and thought it sucked. Until I started getting gear with spell damage on it.
So long as nothing is hitting me the damage is pretty amazing.
So currently it's the one I enjoy playing (that may be due to freshness).
It was the hardest of the 3 to level on it's own (mana issues until quite late on). Mid 60's onwards seemed to go real quick.
Most other classes I'm lucky to get to 30 on, but will go back and level my priest (30), my mage (36) and rogue (45).

Since the beginning of the Beta I was a Warlock and it's my only 70. Cause I had to make several WoW breaks.
But lvling was a lot of fun with him, especially in TBC it was awesome as Demonologist I(But was lvling with Void so I had a weird spec) dould Take down Elite 1-2 over my lvl. It was so awesome, I got this feeling again when I started Multiboxing, to be 1 Person and make stuff that's normally done by more than one, that's Uber.
;)
I rerolled Horde once I made a Troll shaman, he was great I lvld him with a Resto spec because I was most of the time Instancing with some guys I met on the server, first I was tanking (I miss the time tanking as a shaman, FU bizz this was awesome) 2 twohanded warriors don't wanted to (my Instance mates) or I healed them ;) did Instances with only 3 Person , it was awesome.
At least I had to take the last roll so I made a tank. I had Tank experience as Cloth tank(experiments with guildies ;)) so I had to make a tank that wear's a bit more Armor. Warrior was great and I loved tanking, it was so cool, with sh'tty grps it isn't easy to hold aggro but it was a challenge. Got him only on 57 but it was nice with him (with a Prot tank you can make infinite Fights , you get so less dmg);)
I played every class to 30+ but these were the ones I had most fun with, because I've seen a bit more Content with them.
without a doubt 4x mages & a priest.
AOE bombing things down is just fun.
Killing 70s on a PVP server on the way up as low as 48, & starting to 1shot the bad ones at 60, is priceless.
Fury warrior with a paladin carebear healer :) Never ever had to stop and the WW, Cleave+SS combos were just a blast :D
But if we are talking about multiboxing then I would definitely have to say my current melee team.

My multiboxing favorite(s) come from not understanding a comment in one of our stickies:
I soloed a few classes to 70 (mage, shaman, and almost a holy priest), and I read(woot) the stickies when I first joined the dual-boxing community in early January. I didn't understand the comment in the good dual boxing class choices page about 2 Paladins ("are you retarded?"... retarded because it's such a great combo you aren't too bright for asking, or retarded because it sucks and makes no obvious sense to anyone with a tomato+ IQ).
Well, not willing to divulge my IQ to the masses at the time, and never having played a Paladin... I chose 3 Prot Paladins... if 2 were smart, 3 would make me an Einstein, if 2 were truly stupid, " That's why I chose 3! 2 doesn't make sense, but 3 does. You've never played 3 have you?"
I made it to level 60 in short order in pre-BC with all 3 shield spiked and pretty well geared. At level 39 we 3 manned ZF... took hours and hours. I couldn't kill a damn thing easy, but NOTHING could kill the 3 of us either. BC made me shelve the Paladins, but up to the that point, I nearly felt invincible and had a great time levelling them up to the portal.
Over all, my frost mage was unbelievable fun. Just don't let "them" touch you... it's over fast if you do.
Oh ya, and I still don't know if it's smart or stupid to choose 2 paladins... but 3?! Are you retarded? 8)
Peace!

Mine was the warlock class, after finally giving up on my druid (the first time). The druid class seemed to promise some very interesting class quest, which never really materialized. The warlock class had me keeping an infernal running after me for the length of Felwood while I slowly whittled it down to size. I'll never forget banishing farmer's (and regular folk) demons that they were trying to kill. It is a shame (or sham, take your pick) that Curse of Doom can't be cast on players (Blizzard could even change it such that anything that can remove a curse would have a 100% success rate at removing it and I'd be happy). Perhaps the warlock class has lost most of the flavor it had awhile ago, I haven't tried leveling one up recently.
I think second would be the priest class. The first one I leveled (ages ago) I was on a server with a very small portion of healer classes. Groups followed me, if someone was a prick and not playing well, I could be an even bigger one by threatening to leave if we didn't put in a replacement I had on hold and waiting at the instance portal.

The most fun I had leveling was with my Hunter/Priest combo. Back before they nerfed outdoor elites and group quests, I was able to do every non-instance quest at or below suggested level, which seemed pretty powerful at the time. I could also farm anything with no downtime and even got pretty good at instance runs, as long as I was a couple levels higher than the final boss.
Hunter/Mage and Rogue/Druid were also fun combos, but I missed the particular synergies I got with that original grouping.

For single-boxing, I'd have to say either Hunter or Mage. I love both those classes.
Once my Shammies have levelled, I'll be sorely tempted to start a 5xHunter or 5xMage group.

Single Boxing, my rogue.
But by far my 4x shamans were fun as hell

My shadowpriests were slow and fragile, my hunters were fast but soul-less, my mages and warlocks bored me, my moonkin/balance druids were buckets of fun. I think it's part because you never see many of them and it's nice to feel unique. If I was quad or fiveboxing I'd do moonkin over the traditional ele shammies.

I like my three shaman, although I don't like leveling, so it's slow.
I had a ton of fun leveling up my druid solo.

Solo? I loved my Rogue. In my 30s, I was literally two-shotting mobs so quickly that I was still waiting 1.5 seconds for Stealth to cool down. I had the 5 second reduction talent from Subt, so my Stealth was a 5 second timer. This was pre-BC.
It slowed a little in my 40s, but it was amazing nonetheless. I continued to quest and three and 4 shot things. I respecced at 46 to remove the 5 second reduction since it was now taking me around 8-9 seconds to kill something.
My Paladin sucked to level. I hated it up until the late 40s when I felt like I could do something. Again, this was way before BC so no AoE Prot tanking, just single-target Ret killing. It sucked.
Right now I am in love with my Feral Druid at 47. It's like my Rogue all over again. I just hate having to maintain my gear curve to stay competitive.
I have no 70 MB team yet (in fact, they're all sub-35 ATM), but triple Warlock has been pretty nifty, if a little weird to manage. The Imp Drain Life talent is amazing with 3x Shadow Embrace, CoA, and Corr on a target.

My first real toon was a frost Mage and she's 70 - something was missing though - great mob control and levelling was quick but the class really lacked something for solo play - I never play her anymore. Then I played a Hunter to 32 and really enjoyed it but meh it just didn't feel right as there wasn't enough omfgwtfbbqsaucepewpew. So I sat down and thought about what class combines the two - Lock. I've never had so much fun, levelling was quick as affliction with no downtime at all, elites were easymode, especially demons lol. PvP was great fun and I was regularly in the top 5 for damage/kills in AV, seed of corruption - now is there a better AoE? I think not. I loved setting up a 3 sequence in a mob of ally at the GY outside the frostwolf bridge and watch the damage numbers rise and fall like a cascading fountain of death as I'm throwing more seeds out mwahahahahahahaha. Lets not forget fear/howl of terror/deathcoil - 3 great ways to make players run around like headless chickens and feel completely helpless - if only WoW was RL lol.
And also 1 other thing, on my mage I was a gank target and to a lesser degree my hunter, but the Lock? Never, from 1 to 70 I got ganked maybe 3 times? People just steer clear of locks.

Shaman totally, CL x4 never ever gets old!
For PvP(battlegrounds and world PvP) I love my rogue and hunter. The priest is a lot of fun in instances, I like to heal.
But overall, my 4 multiboxing shamans have given me the most of fun, because they made the game more social to me and made certain aspects(quests, instances) available to me that I didn't got to do as solo character.

My first toon was a tauren hunter that ended up being a hardcore T6 raider and is now retired. Levelling with him was great fun since I get into the whole rp aspect with the lore and of having a faithful companion, etc. (Even now, I sometimes log him out in the fishing outfit with the illidian necklace on. lol)
After retiring the hunter, I levelled a priest as shadow that ended up going holy and being an amazing healer in T6 content. The blood elf lore made for a nice change, but I still hate the way Silvermoon is laid out.
After those two, I decided it was time to try something that doesn't use mana. Heh. I have a dw fury warrior at 50 now and she has been an absolute blast. I've already done way more corpse runs on her than the first two, but I don't care because it's so much fun.

I've laughed the most with my hunter team, thats for sure. Its just so silly!Silly as in severely over-powered or just plain unpractical? For pvp 5 hunters sounds pretty cool, but instances, not so much.
I am really loving the 4 Shaman & a Paly setup. Peeps love the lighting show.

Hunter - First Main... loved it. Being able to kite an elite is just awesome. (Leveled to 70)
Warlock - Fun class... better then the hunter (imo). Don't have to worry about leveling a pet, food, arrows. (Leveled to 64)
Rogue - Another fun class to level.... just slice slice. (Leveled to 64)
Warrior - First class that I've ever tried... boring as hell, tossed away to try a different class (Leveled to 10)
Paladin - Another boring, slow class. Fun in my multiboxing crew though. (Leveled to 70)
Mage - So-so on the fun for leveling (Leveled to 70)
Druid - Haven't leveled one far enough to get the other forms... but was slow anyways (Leveled to 17ish)
Priest - Boring leveling... fun PVP though (Leveled to 64)

Both. First time you see a multi-multi-shot you'll laugh pretty damn hard. The 5x boar chage is hilarious as well.
And instances may be possible to some degree. When I get a change, I'm going to run VC @ 22."5 aimed shots all hitting at once" sounds so beautiful to me not to mention the auto, arcane, and all different stings chasing right after them.
So many combo's to try and so little time...

Shamans, the only class I leveled to 70 solo, as well as one to 68 and 4 as a box to 70.
I have a hunter at 60, my first character, took me 30 days played time to reach 60. :P (I slacked) and that was awesome too, but it was more because the first time around was just awesome. In terms of classes, I prefered shaman the most. Able to heal, dps, even tank while leveling! If you're the same level of the mobs in the instances anyhow. And doing quite well on the dps part too. :O Enhancement is wicked. XD

I did the warlock team and they pwd the lower 60 dungeons. I did the shaman team and they rocked too. I've just started an hunter team and it's still very early but the level 14 hunters take down level 21 crawlers without much effort, I'm an old pro now so they seem to be leveling faster than anything else I've done so far, when you take down +7 over your level you get nice points even if you are on a team.

Priest! Mind Control FTW! Who needs a real tank when you can make a mob do it for you!

5x Shaman - Leveling = not so fun, imo. THe 35-50 range was probably my least favorite, and I took a long break during that period to play with other classes. 70 rocks my socks off, but I really did not enjoy leveling them pre-BC.
5x Warlock - My favorite for PvP servers. It's the first class I've played where people actually RUN from me. I downed my first 70 at level 49. Dot+run technique makes grinding stuff pretty easy and efficient -- the only thing slowing me down is looting/skinning.
5x Hunter - You never get tired of the boar charge. Another fun class, and easy to level while at the same time letting to challenge yourself by mass-pulling with a different pet on different targets. Both warlock and hunter have opportunities to play with complex pet macros. :)
5x Priest - I have some of these around level 20. Once you get shield you can dot+run like the warlocks, but I feel it won't last too long. This is another composition that I've been toying with in my head.
5x Druid - For the life of me the 1-20 grind for druids KILLS me. I have a feeling I'd enjoy them endgame but I have a problem stomaching the level grind. That and the fact that most druid "aura" talents don't stack makes me a sad panda.

quick semi-related question vyn,
I watched your 5x hunter Deadmines video, and saw you used raid icons a lot. Have you got a macro command to /target a particular raid icon?
Like /cast [target = skull_icon] petattack, or something of the sort? I looked up raid icons on WOWWIKI and all i saw was key-bindings to set raid icons, nothing on how to target them.

Nah it's just a visual que for myself. My "main" sets raid icons on the same button that the other hunters do their /focus macros. This way I can visually see whose pet should be targeting what.
The macros should be in the same thread as the video. :) Just look further down the thread.

Best fun was lvling on a pvp server with 4 locks (aff) and 1 shadow priest all undead. before patch changes I could kill any lvl 70 at 40 with my grp. Now at 70 its hard to kill one prep rogue. 4 locks and shadow priests just burn though all in normal instances. great for farming in pvp server.
on PVE normal servers 4 mages and 1 Priest ( all undead ) is next best fun grp ( aoe farming of rep and and dailys is jsut amazing
4 hunters and 1 priest is also fun.
best solo char by far is BM hunter , then aff lock, then frost mage

Well, I actually just started MBing, and got my girls to the 30s now. I'm actually a DPS lover, I really enjoyed lvling my frost Mage and my elemental Shaman (..single-boxing... eww :P), so I decided to roll with five Shaman girlies :D
But yeah, the 30s are rather slow, STV, however, is a great area to lvl your toons up quickly ^^

Druid - Haven't leveled one far enough to get the other forms... but was slow anyways (Leveled to 17ish)
Get it to 20 or 30 using boosting and keep its gear up to date. It's fun as hell. You're like a Rogue with 30 OH SHIT buttons.
Druids are my favourite solo class. They can do everything, and this was before their first talent review.
5x Warlock (levelled affliction towards SL/SL) - Insanely fun due to the pure overpowered nature of the group. Once you get instant corruption it just gets better and better. You no longer put up a 'dot' on a mob, you put up an ellipsis. Fear is no longer used for CC, its used to aggro more groups. So many laser beams you can almost smell the melted faces. Your own personal zergling rush without having to build a spawning pool (fel puppies remind me of zerglings). Extra fun on a PvP server for ganking skulls.
1x Priest (levelled deep holy) + 4x Warlock (levelled deep affliction) - Just as fun to level as above. Once you get CoH bind it with life tap and roll your face on the keyboard.
5x Shammies - Slow to start off and feels very slow after having done warlocks. Just feels like im playing 1 toon that hits harder.

This is a tough one. I'm still leveling my shammy group (53 at the moment) but so far, the most fun has been the hunters followed closely by the mages. I haven't done druids yet or other melee types so that opinion may change soon. ;)
