3 shaman or 2shammy/1mage?

I'd rather go for 4 shaman, if that's an option. But 2 shaman and 1 mage as a 3 combo seems well interesting. Slightly more pve focused perhaps.

If you're more interested in pvp. I'd go 3 shaman, easier to manage in pvp.

At level 20, your shammies will get ghost wolf. I suspect your mage would be about as welcome as a fart in a space suit once that happens. That's certainly the case with my shaman group's paladin.

In a larger group where shammies are less dominant (Paladin/Shaman/Shaman/Mage/Priest perhaps) then this would be less noticeable.

That is more a convenience matter though. Once you reach level 40, it is fixed again. :p

I'd go with three shammies. The mage will give you some CC and counterspell and a bit of AoE but those can be adjusted for.

As a practical matter, a lot depends on your setup. If you're running 3 separate boxes (as I do), you'd be fine with a mage, since you'll likely be controlling all 3 separately. Sheep, water, counterspell, buffs and portability are very nice additions. The run speed will suck for 20 levels, but that should be a small percentage of the overall levelling process. Besides, the ports at 40+ will more than make up for the inconvenience.

If you're driving all 3 on the same box, I'd go with Shamans due to better keystroke/macro synergy and lower overhead.

Hey guys, thanks for the replies. I was going to put this in the newbie area since I honestly thought of being flammed for not searching or thinking :( but I'm really happy you replied anyway :D
I did make the choice on my own to go with 3 shaman for pritty much all of your reasons, mobility, usefullness, and even the pvp comment.

my buddies we're nice enough to let me use their stuff so im a happy 5 boxer.
Now my only problem is finder a comfortable way to split the CPU usage on my computers... One of them can't handle more than two and the other runs a hot processor :S planning on turning the Graphics down when I get on again.
