That depends on what you consider "Cheap FPS"...I've seen people who thought 80fps was bad and that's INSANELY GOOD. lol

First step is to try typing on all windows /console maxfpsbk 30(or 20 if you feel 30 isn't helping enough; this parenthesis part is obviously not part of the command, just to be sure lol); that made the biggest difference for me.

High player counts will still affect your FPS a little; my main window gets about 64fps capped around the world but in towns it drops to 30-50ish depending on how crowded it is but not as bad as my old system which got about 10 at best lol; it's simply a factor of player data, movement and gear/skills/etc being a big amount of data sent/received.

well i get 15-35fps in barrens, running 5 clients, 4 in background

Still not too bad but try the /console maxfpsbk 20 command on all 5 windows and see if that helps :p Should skyrocket the main window to max fps without much issue

haha, I thought that keyclone did it through the WTF folder, haha, i learn something new everyday...

cheers m8 that added a lil extra fps, max i reach now is 40-43, any idea if i dropped back fps to 15 or 10 this might affect the other toons following and casting performance?

i know some people drop there clones to 15-20, so that their main runs pretty good, and some cap their main at 30-40ish

I wouldn't recommend 10 but 15 should still work fine, that's what I set mine to before I upgraded computers and it worked fine.

Judging by your system specs though you should get better fps than that...my new comp is about the same(Q6600, XFX 8800 GT 512mb DDR3(Alpha Dog edition with slight overclock) and 4gb 800mhz DDR2 dual-channel G-Skill ram(on sale for $80 at newegg right now, VERY good deal for 4gb); somethin tells me there's something else running that's eating performance or the HD/Mobo simply can't keep up; HD speed and how you installed your WoWs can have an effect as well...

1 dir or multiple dirs? If multiple, is it simple copy/paste or are the dirs' Data folders Sym-Link'd? Multiple, non-linked install dirs = bad performance vs the other two options, IDE or SATA drive? SATA is a much faster reader and the RPMs on the drive regardless of which it is make a difference too, how fast it reads the data.

i installed wow from installer, then i overwritten the directory with my previous wow installation from other pc to keep the settings and ui, am running 5 clients from same dir, i have sata2 HDD :(

Only other thing I can think of is setting affinity of each window manually; I put my main and 2nd on core 0 + core 1, and the other 3 on cores 2 + 3; otherwise, I don't understand why your fps would be where it is then...something else has to be eating processing power. Not something I'm qualified to diagnose nor able to without being at the computer either lol

Edit: Other than the other obvious bit about turning down settings/resolution on yer alts...I neglected to mention I run my WoWs out of one dir and they all start up at 1024x768 with 24bit 1x multisample in vid options, I leave the alts at that resolution and maximize my main's window lol

I run my maxfpsbk @ 12 and everything runs fine. Lower than that and my epic fliers cause problems with /follow.

how i can do that m8?

i believe i it has to do with something in the WTF folder, but i know keyclone has options to set the affinity

Either through Keyclone's command editor, or after they're open, hit ctrl+alt+del and click on a Wow.exe process in the Processes tab, rightclick > Set Affinity... > then check off the cores you want it running on

Yeah, I like to do things the hard way, I use the latter ;p

here's something else that can radically improve your performance:
wow in-game graphic detail macros (helps performance) ('http://www.dual-boxing.com/forums/index.php?page=Thread&threadID=6521')

i recommend setting all clones to low detail.. and only bring one up (your main/active) to medium or high

of course, besides fps and level of detail... the pure number of pixels you are trying to push is a factor.
don't run in 1600x1200x2 mode... 1280x1024x2 lessens the load on the gpu/cpu radically

1600x1200x2 == 3.8 million pixels / frame
1280x1024x2 == 2.6 million pixels / frame

a 50% savings...

think that will improve my fps more, been slow leveling lately due to this low fps problem ;(

this made a work of magic m8, thanks alot :)

Are you using Dual view? if so, try horizontal view, it increased my FPS probably 20fps (to 50 plus) on the main, with the clones set to 15fps

But this is assuming you are using two monitors, which isn't stated, so if you only have one, disregard.

get fubar addon, gave me about 15-20 fps

15fps on 4x clones, maxfps 80 on main always top exept in shatt where i have 60-70fps
