With 2 Gigs of RAM?

I'd say 3 at a comfortable frame rate.

i ran 5 copies of wow on a XP4200 with 1x7900 and 1xHDD with 2 gigs of ram. It wasnt the most glorious graphics on my other screen but i never had a problem with it my main screen and 1 client was pulling 30-40fps

3 will be fine, 4 will start paging memory to disk. You need 3.2gb of ram for 5 clients.

Grab a Q6600 as well.

Before getting my new beasty I was running 2.5gb RAM in XP32.

Definitely not a lot of fun in cities, frame rates down to 5-10FPS, but usually ok for most questing/instancing. That said, if you want good frame rates, 2.5gb won't cut it.

Yeah double the memory and you should be good. A quad core would be nice I guess, but I run 5 instances easily on a mobile dual core and don't tend to exceed 60-70% CPU usage 99% of the time. Ram is definitely the limiting factor in your build.

I got a pentium4 with XP, 2 gigs running 4 accounts. What important is what else yeh got running?
Yeh can have the fastest box money can buy and it still wont run 5 accounts if yeh got a bunch of junk running in the background.
Once yeh have yer box I would suggest doing a lil research on optimizing the operating system for speed.

I would suggest getting 4 gigs of ram if yer getting XP and 8 gigs if yer gonna go with vista.

You could probaly run 3-4 instance of wow per core.

8800 GT -> 5 clients
Core 2 Duo 2.66 ghz -> 4 clients
10,000 RPM HD -> 3 clients perhaps, depends on the HDD. A regular HDD(7200rpm) can run 2 clients.
2 Gigs DDR2 -> 2 or 3 clients. depending on how much other software you run in the background

So, overall I'm guessing that you can run 2 or 3 clients smoothly.

I run my 5 box team on the following

Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 / 2.4 GHz
2gb ram
7950GT card

1024x768 with 30 fps for main on screen 1
the four on follow split a 19" 1280x1024 screen and is set to lowest in all and 15 fps
Keyclone and Maximizer is a must for me

I dont have much of problems. Either in instances or grinding quests. Only thing is when I travel by bird. The swift graphics change means heavy loading on the 5 accounts. My solution is quite simple. Send the 5 man team off to their destination and go afk a few minutes. By the time I am back all 5 have loaded proper and I am off my merry way. ^^

I know some would /cry over 30fps/15fps but since I am only into PvE is good for me. No need for more atm.
