I'm working on leveling my locks in STV when I strangely get a whisper "Did you make 2 warlocks" (figuring he was wondering if i was playing them both) in which iI replied "yes" and he said "cool". As does a friend of mine think that me multiboxing is so cool.

Then today I had a brief converstation with a character who thought it was awesome I was playing 2 characters and he wanted to know more.

Well back to leveling, and BTW since my first post about leveling 2 locks, I have them at 52 now.

I had allot of whispers already and I am only level 19 atm, got allot yesterday when I was showing off in SW. Mostly the whispers are very friendly and motivating, tho sometimes people start to insult me that I am cheating etc. I got reported 3 times already! :| anyway, all those reactions keep me going.

That guy is probably one of the people whining who got his ass kicked on the forums about multiboxing

On my realm the responses have been almost unanimously positive.

Only a few people have been rude, and one was about to report me for supposedly using Glider - once I explained that I was a masochistic multiboxer who was determined to complete the first Elixir of Agony quest in Tarren Mills by collecting 5 Spider Ichor and 50 Bear Tongues - NO MATTER HOW FRIGGIN' LONG IT TOOK ME (lol) - they were all good with it too. God that quest took me literally hours - and sealed my "skip pre-BC collection quests whereever possible" policy in concrete.

I think my personal favorite was, "I'm not going to report you cause you healed me" after I saved some guy from a bunch of mobs.

It's actually quite skillful the way he has combined ignorance and gratitude into one almost friendly comment.

Masochist, Oz...christ that quest is bad enough solo, 90% of the bears don't have tongues...let alone the headless murlocs outside Southshore...Hillsbrad sucks. lol; just wait till you need 30 buzzard wings or whatever it was EACH in outland...yer gonna have enough bird shit to make new york pigeons jealous.

I don't have too much trouble with reporters...I join in public chats/discussions/insultfests so people see me as a player first and a multiboxer later ;p Once they see me chatting it up and doing non-botty things like AHing or dancing in town or vendoring they seem less likely to report, worst i've had so far is the usual "zomg no life" stuff lol

It's true - I can understand that few spiders might be squished in such a way as to reveal very little "Ichor" if any.

But yes, it was damned frustrating trying to work out how all these bears survived when clearly only about 5% of them had any friggin' tongues.

Then, oh yes, then, I discovered that the very very vast majority - and I'm talking like 99%+ here of mountain lions in the area HAVE NO BLOOD !!!! What the hell sort of lion has no blood???????? Or perhaps more importantly, when beating a lion to death with five clubs, how is it humanly possible even to end up with not just no blood, but bloody blood bloody everywhere?!?!?!?!

After 30 minutes or so, I had 3 blood out of the FIFTY! I was going to need. As much as the masochist I am, I abandoned that one, even though it meant forgoing the opportunity to mutuate that silly little farmers dog over in that town of awful humans.

Yeah prior to 5boxing I was a big proponent of doing collection quests...however, moving up to 5 has shown me the error of my ways. There is no fucking way I'm looting 60 Defias Bandannas when, after clearing a cave and field full of them no less than twice, I only had one set of 5 done. I said "Fuck that" and abandoned all 5, including the complete one so I didn't get ruin my still-matching exp. I completely skipped the bear/constrictor/ravager collections in the draenei lands for the same reasons; though I was masochistic enough to collect Sand Pears on all 5 chars...never again. lol

Thankfully after having lvl'd so many alts and chars I have a good idea on the actual vs database drop rate of things so I can skip the bad ones and do the rest cuz I'm gonna need as many quests as I can get to keep going lol

I think I gained an entire level off of plain strider's just to collect the 7 beaks for all 5. Now I still have to do the raptor skulls which are a guaranteed drop per kill but they are so few and far between I'm considering dropping it... also the centaur bracer's quest for 15 per char and the drop rate is like 1 in 4-5 :(

I think I will just start farming large masses of humanoids for coin and loot until I start farming WC/SFK/RFK.

though I was masochistic enough to collect Sand Pears on all 5 chars...never again. lol

I've done that one on several 5-boxing lowbies. It helps now that they sparkle. You can usually get enough via travel between the furbolgs, ravagers, and nagas in that area (and yes, I mean all for all 5 chars). Just need to make an effort to look for the sparklies.

I did it once when loot didn't sparkle.... >.<

Yeah I pretty much patrolled the edge of the Furbolg camp,(and did what you said Fur, lead always loots last) going around them, to the naga and back down to the ravagers on the eastern coast, they spawn best there, didn't take too awful long but still enough to drive you mad lol; the sparkles do indeed help, god bless whichever developer did that.

I do not look forward to the Duskwood collection quests I'm gonna be doing soon...I gotta run deadmines again for VC's head to finish off Westfall then get going on Redridge's non-collection quests(yeah fuckin right like I'm gonna try to get 10 sunfish per char at the pitiful droprate + spawnrate those murlocs have...plus, they're MURLOCS. MURLOCS SUCK. lol) and I may have to skip the Battleworn axes quest too...though most of the orcs up there are nonelite now so maybe...the shadowhide pendants quest can go fuck itself though lol

I always say to myself I'm not going to do the next collection quest...and end up doing them anyway, they usually do give lots of xp and the rapid killing with 5 make up for it. :)

Yesterday I did my level 50 Shaman quest, killing bears, spiders and birds in Western Plaguelands...ugh, MONOTONOUS because of the low droprate. What's even more pathetic is I finished the Gahz'ridian quest in Tanaris the other night...I did split it up over a few days as I rode in and out of Tanaris, I'd stop by the ruins with ogres and get xp and cloth while picking up the ornaments...150 ornaments...

I did that quest x5 last night as well. NOT a good time :(

On an up note though, more to the original topic, I did encounter someone a bit more in the know about multiboxing. Guy messaged me asking me if thats what I was doing, whether I was hardware or software, asking me what my goals were etc. A good conversation, and he sounded interested in multiboxing so I gave him some tips and told him about this website. Maybe I'll have recruited a newbie sometime relatively soon.

If your REAL bored and want to do a "collection quest" for days and days, try getting the 5x Laden Dew Gland and killing thousands and thousands of Threshrub Dew Collectors only never get any to drop. Seriously, I think either Blizzard removed that item from the game or lowered it's drop rate. But other then that. I've been doing collection quest, but at times it gets agrivating. Like I previously said, I like a challenge.

That quest isn't REAL hard. Actually it's very easy. There is a slew of them in the ruins (not the one where you got the quest from but one the ogres are at). When I was doing that quest I think i had about 3 on one char and 5 on the other. Within minutes I got them all. I would guess that there are about 17-20 nodes, and some of them have fast respawn times.

Sometimes, I would only do the collection quest for 2 of my toons (out of 5), just so that they could "catch up" and get closer in the XP.

BTW, at 70, I enjoy getting whispers, "Wow... you're still around... thought you would be banned by now"... to which I would reply, "It's not against the TOS... see you in BGs. :) "

I was in ogrimmar, doing the quest line for RFC from Thrall. As i step out of the gates and hang a left towards Skull Rock, I see this mage come shooting past me, pull a 180, then shoot past me again heading back to Ogg. I think nothing of it and head on, stopping at a Copper node and having one of my alts hit it up for the precious ore. Then the mage comes back and this time stops and turns towards me. Finally, he says "Go kill something and I will give you 10g." My immediate reply was "Yes boss!!" and proceeded to the nearest mob.

4 Lightning bolts later and 10g richer, we strike up a conversation about multiboxing and how it was done. He mentions he has 4 accounts already, but didn't know how to do what I do, so I refer him here. I just wish all my "MB Encounters" with other people got me paid like this instead of the random "waste of time" or "get a life" comment. :D

I did the dew gland on my 5x shammies and it was relatively quick. It can take a while to drop, but it drops for EVERYONE in the group. It's not any worse then doing it on one character, quicker even because you annihalate the mobs so quickly.

Eteocles
05-19-2008, 02:47 PM
You must've gotten lucky then Khaz cuz I swear it dropped just for one boomkin and I had to keep farming for the other one's...how long ago did you do it? Maybe a patch fix...or, and I've only seen this happen once and I don't remember what quest it was sadly, probably the fire totem quest for my shamen, 2 or 3 of the 5 could loot the quest item from the mob...but the rest couldn't, and I Had to keep killing for theirs, which dropped seperately too...5 quest drops across 3 diff kills, basically

I did it just the latter part of last week. And I'd remember the pain if I wasn't able to loot it on all at once. Maybe theres a bug that I just didn't suffer from, but it dropped on all 5 for me.

It took me about 20 kills before it dropped though. Was also on the other kill quest for the area so no biggie, just zapped everything.

i got alot of whistles and cheers when i was dual boxing my mages through the lower levels. then when i upped the ante and started my main team of 3 warlocks the interactions got alot more....diverse...hmm

"you need to find something better to do with your time"
"says you:} "

i've also gotten terribly flamed and reported....called a power leveling service, asked how much i was gonna sell my characters for (this instantly tells me the flamer is a teen who has never worked haha..when i was 13 i made more money than you could make selling a character), all of that.....maybe the 3 locks, demons, and mana wyrmlings are too much haha (can't wait to add exploding sheep to the mix for 12 toons rolling at once heh heh)....i am always nice to people and try to let them know that what i am doing is not against the EULA, all that. This can make them even more angry though, as if they want you to be "cheating"

funny thing is when people act like you are spending 3x as much time playing when you are actually spending the same amount of time as a single character...because they are all on at once....

then there are the true friendlies, they want to help. one guy tried to give each of my characters five gold.... they find out how nice i am in return when i give them bags, blues and enchants from my main :}

ignore the haters, support the supporters!

I actually got a gold donation from someone last week when he asked me to spread the shammies out, drop all the totems and shield away. 20g.

Most everyone with high-level characters are positive - those that have been in the game for a while now. Most negative comments I've encountered so far have been from relatively new players.

I presume other people are finding the same thing?

times people said they are reporting me. altho some people find it cool or

ask many questions but thats understandable. AV gets fustrating when

people pay more attention to me then pushing foward or taking back

Guess I'm very lucky on my server. I haven't had much response at all and can't remember any negative response. Only one person who didn't understand why I would want to level multiple characters at the same time, but even he wasn't negative. Most conversations are more like:

Random person: multi-boxing?
me: yep

and that's it.

I've got more response from people while I was area effecting with my mage then while MB'ing. And that response sometimes was negative, people thinking that I was a bot, complaining about me killing all their quest mobs at the same time, etc

I four noded eots a few times, and every game I was in there was a priest from my server in the alliance as well.

She came to the battleground masters I was at and kept spitting, mocking and /rude' ing me. I just did /rofl /mock /point /laugh. Said in say I rolled her in eots a few times, and all horde started to join in on me mocking and laughing at the alliance. xP

Must have hurt, oh well, sore losers. x)

Other then that. I've had some silly negative remarks, but mostly positive.

Not really...if anything mine have fallen behind for being the first to die; my Feathermoon Shamen are all 100% exactly matched up on exp, except the lead is ahead by about 50-100exp, but I know why: I killed a mob after leaving Blood Watch and forgot to invite the rest to the party. lol

However, my main DOES seem to do the most dmg, and the rest slowly trail off by my meters; Urthshokk on top of dmg, Zerglingone on top of dmg, etc...rest are behind a bit.

I AM NOT A POWERLEVELING SERVICE!!!!
ffs, I am in a BT raiding guild, my two mains are T5+, even if I sold these toons for $300 each.... seriously, how stupid are people?
I've even had guildies ask if they "can have" one of my shammies once we "are done leveling"

~14 days played to 70 x 24 hours per day x$25 per hour (a nominal wage[in America{not China}]) / 3 toons = $2800, every man has his price

My next favorite pet peeve is being called a nerd or dork for multiboxing, by someone who is playing a MMORPG. Let he without sin cast the first stone.

I do get a lot of positive response on my server, the occasional runthrough, and have never heard REPORTED or had a GM contact me *knocks wood*
