new to multi boxing, i use no keybroadcsting wanted to know why when i try to get my alt to assist my main in battle it won't help?
iv'e tried these macros
/cast [target=focus,nodead,harm] lightning bolt
/cast [target=party1] lightning bolt
/assist party1 /cast lightning bolt

The simplest is just
/assist maincharname
/cast lightning bolt (or whatever)
Make sure they are on two seperate lines as above, and the only reason hitting that macro would not work would be a spelling error.
i use no keybroadcsting
I think this is the problem. If you have 2 WoWs on one machine without a programme to broadcast key presses then the tabbed WoW (or the one not at the front of the screen) won't actually receive any key presses.
Any of those macros shoudl work, but you need a program to transmit the key press to the second WoW screen. Personally I use keyclone, but I know there are other software options out there (check the software forum for ideas).

/cast [target=focus,nodead,harm] lightning bolt
needs a focus did yeh create a focus?
/cast [target=party1] lightning bolt
trys to cast a lightning bolt at party1
/assist party1 /cast lightning bolt
needs to be on separate lines
try /cast [target=party1target] lightning bolt
this assumes the group leader has a target

/cast [target=party1] lightning bolt You are trying to hit your party leader with lightning bolt in this macro. This is the correct one for the above:
/cast [target=party1target] Lightning Bolt

/cast [target=focustarget,nodead,harm] lightning bolt
/cast [target=party1target] lightning bolt
/assist party1 /cast lightning bolt (This one should work I think. IF the char you try to assist is the party leader.)
Still, I wouldn't use party1 for targeting. I'd go for focus or names.
ie.: /cast [target=focustarget, nodead, harm] lightning bolt (And obviously, have the alt focus your main.)
or: /assist <name of your main> /cast [nodead, harm] Lightning Bolt
Also, I think macro's are case sensative.
/cast [target=focustarget,nodead,harm] lightning bolt = bad
/cast [target=focustarget,nodead,harm] Lightning Bolt = good

Atleast they were. As far as I can tell, they are not anymore :)

I stand corrected then. x)
Oh, and Faws. I myself use the following while having my alts focus my main.
/target focustarget
/cast Lightning Bolt
It seems this is better in terms of killing hunters that are in feigned position. Only [target=focustarget] didn't seem to be enough for my alts to attack feigned hunters.
Also. "i use no keybroadcsting"'. You're actually alt tabbing or switching? That's very brave to be honest. xD Mind if I ask why you don't use keybroadcasting software?
