I just started multiboxing a priest and warrior a couple of days ago (My first ever attempt). My characters are level 8 and so far I'm really enjoying it. I'm using two systems (a PC and laptop) with hotkeynet to transmit keystrokes and Synergy for mouse/keyboard control. My intention with multiboxing is simply to level up several characters (that I want to play at level 70) quicker than doing it one at a time. I enjoy playing the end game with my guild but don't really like leveling to get to the end game.

My initial plan was simply to play the Warrior and have the Priest tag along to do heals and stuff like that. However, I'm quickly discovering that I can get him to do a lot more. I initially just started with Synergy because my hope was that I could use the mouse to quickly take control of the priest (on the laptop) and do heals as needed. That didn't last long. After dying several times the first couple of times I ran into 2+ mobs, I quickly realized that synergy wasn't going to cut it. That's when I added hotkeynet. Now I have specific hotkeys to heal either character (in easy reach while I'm playing the warrior) and I'm slowly adding more complexity as I go.

What I'm wondering is what sort of tips would you guys recommend? One of the first things I did after making seperate keys to cast lesser heal and Power Word: Shield on both characters (4 keys in total) was to modify my charge key to make the priest automatically cast Power Word: Shield on myself. I now go into most fights shielded automatically. So far, I've mainly concentrated on healing with my priest. He doesn't do damage during fights yet. Should I stick with this setup or should the priest be actively involved in doing damage?

It's all pretty new to me because not only have I never multiboxed before, I have never played a priest or warrior past about level 12 or so. I'm really looking for suggestions on how I should be playing this combination of characters in the long run. Keep in mind that I likely will never be grouping with others and I'm willing to make all sorts of custom macros (either in game or in hotkeynet) to allow me to play these two characters to the best of my ability.

I leveled a warrior priest combo to about lvl 47, this was before keyclone so i was just alt tabbing. But I set up a macros for my priest to heal the warrior if needed. I spec'd him shadow for the added dps.

I'd have SW: Pain bound to my Charge keybind. That way i already had that on the mob before my warrior got there. I think i had Foucs(My Priests name, The focus parts below are used using the in game focus not his name you could use the warriors name if you were so inclined.) retarget for renew or healing so if I need to target myself i just had to click off or hit my target self macro.

#showtooltip Shadow Word: Pain
/assist Focus
/castsequence reset=target Shadow Word: Pain, Vampiric Embrace, Vampiric Touch
/Target Focus

The Wand Macro I used, I used this alot because it costs no mana and does decent damage.
#showtooltip Shoot
/assist Focus
/cast Shoot

Mind Blast, Mind Flay: If I remember Correctly the Nochanneling kept me from interrupting Mind Flay if I spammed it. This was bound to my Heroic Strike Keybind also. But I changed it to its own key and used the Wand Macro instead.
#showtooltip Mind Flay
/assist Focus
/castsequence reset=target Mind Blast, [nochanneling] Mind Flay

Cure Disease/Dispel Magic: Again its been a while but this macro would dispel cure disease who ever the warrior was targeting.
#showtooltip Dispel Magic
/target focus
/assist
/castsequence Dispel Magic, Cure Disease

And Buffs:
The one i used.
/castsequence reset=60 Inner Fire, Power Word: Fortitude, Fear Ward

Modified Version:
/castsequence target=targettarget reset=60 Inner Fire, Power Word: Fortitude, Fear Ward

I'm sure a few of these might be wrong or out of date. If something is wrong if you could point it out i'd greatly appreciate it.

It will severely gimp your damage output and threat due to not generating rage at first. I began duoing my warrior and shaman and it worked great. I would seriously consider going shadow with the priest... he's still going to be able to heal and the DPS boost will make your life much better. I ran my shaman as resto at first, but even with WF totem and limitless heals, it wasn't all that fast. Then I switched him to a DPS spec (enhance, using the autofollow sandwich technique, because I don't like elemental) and things moved along MUCH quicker, with the added DPS more than making up for loss in healing power and mana pool. I would either roll with the priest as shadow and just swap out to heal every few pulls as needed, or run as some sort of hybrid build where you can toss HoTs or binding heals while dotting and throwing an occasional nuke. As far as control structure, I just used basic in game macros and Keyclone, set up similar to what you are doing now with various attacks on the warrior being the same keys as attacks on the other character. As far as warrior spec, it's a toss up based on weapons until you get a significant amount of talent points to work with, then I would go fury. Good luck!

I put my priest talents in the Holy tree initially because I felt it would be too difficult to control the shadow abilities (Mind Flay, mostly) while spamming with my Warrior. After some experience, I found that the Holy tree did much better DPS than I first thought it could.

My primary attack button (#2) would cast Smite with the Priest, and Sunder Armor and the Warrior. My secondary attack (#3) would cycle between SW:P and Mind Blast on the Priest and Revenge on the Warrior. It would be a lot different on a non Prot-specced Warrior, and I don't know how much DPS you could do with this dual-box combo. My F1/F2 keys would be used to cast heal on the Warrior/Priest respectively

Another thing--at such an early level, it's really hard to tank multiple mobs since your gear is likely going to be poor, and the heals/mana pool won't be able to keep up. Once you hit around 20 or so, and get some decent Deadmines/WC gear, then things really start to look up.

Interesting, I never even thought of that. That would explain why things are taking so long...

I think that I'm going to lean towards actively doing more damage with my priest...

Not shielding the warrior and having the priest do damage is a big improvement. I'm talking mobs down much quicker and even collection quests are barable now...
