recently i added a 4th toon to my boxing team. I havent had any problems the past few days until today when i try to log all of them in and my internet goes down completely. Im able to get 1-2 toons in but when i log in the other 2 all of them get DC'd, my aim goes down and i cant surf the web. I cant use the internet again until i unplug and replug in my wireless card. This is really confusing me since I havent had any problems up to this point. I'm running all toons on the same machine (4 windows on 1 24" monitor) and using the same program / file of WoW to load / play. It also seems that this problem occurs only when I load in the 4th and newest toon, I can load the other 3 fine but I cant even play my new guy when I load him by himself. This leads me to think there is something wrong in the wow specific to him? but i cant understand why it would make my internet go down completely. Im really lost and confused, if anyone knows whats going Id really appreciate any help that can be given, thanks

A few things that you could do:
- Check the memory usage in the task manager("Physical Memory"). If you don't have enough memory, programs start acting weird and performance goes down the drain. Even if 4xWoW used to work fine, you might have installed something recently that requires just that little bit extra memory in the background that makes it unable to run your 4th client.
- Check the CPU usage in the task manager (your PC might have trouble running 4 instances ... maybe there's something in the background that demands CPU time too). Then again, this shouldn't be affecting your internet connection.
- Run a virusscanner
- If you recently did a Windows update, some driver(eg. chipset driver) might be causing you trouble with the heavy CPU/memory load.

There are probably more possible causes, but these are the first ones that I can think of.

i dont know....id like to think my comp can handle it my specs are 4gig ram, windows vista 64 bit ultimate, quad core with a 8800gt card....by just glancing at the cpu and ram usage meters on the vista side bar (i dont know if its as accurate as checking the other stuff) its not over loading at all. while running the 4 instances of wow i can still browse the internet, run aim, listen to music etc on my 2nd monitor w/o much lag / lack of performance at all. ill do the things u suggested tho but i still think its more specific to the one char since it all seems to go to hell when i load him up. as u pointed out as well its hard to tell why the internet is going out as well. any other suggestions would be helpful!

a wireless card may be the problem, some cards will drop connection if you try to use too much bandwith, that is probaly why your connection is going down all together. What signal are you picking up? are you on a GSM or CDMA carrier and by what signal i mean, RevA/EVDO/1X (those are the CDMA versions, that is all i know)

RevA you shouldn't have a problem, it's going to be like a between dsl and cable
EVDO you really shouldn't have a problem either, it will be a little laggy but it should work
1X, forget it, that is like dial up, you'll be lucky to run 2

Do you have all your WoWs set to low priority? Also, do you run a software firewall? You might also set your firewall and/or wifi control app to high priority and see if that helps.

Not true, 4gb's is plenty of memory to run 4 wow's in Vista (Hell i have no problems with 2 gbs)

I have to agree with the network driver issue. Your system is a high-end one, so performance shouldn't be the cause. It's indeed probably a network driver problem.

well i didnt do anything and its working fine again (for now). you guys are prob right, its prob my wireless signal which i didnt think of. I use a linksys wireless card, its one of the higher end ones since my apt has thick walls and im down the hall from the router. I use road runner for internet. Anyway, thanks for all the suggestions, I appreciate the feedback
