Vivendi's released a press release with their earnings for the first quarter of 2008. Even if that's probably not interesting for the average WoW player, there is a very, very instructive comment related to WoW.

According to this press release, Wrath of the Lich King will be released before the end of 2008.
Thoughts?

I'm sure they'd really love to have it ship in time for Thanksgiving/Christmas, to take advantage of holiday sales. But as with tBC, they will wait if they're not comfortable that it's ready yet. Jan/Feb 2009 might be more accurate, but I sure hope it's earlier...

Yeah, that's for sure, it's normal in this business. But I hope they come with it next year. Or soon enough that I can play Warhammer online without crossing them too much, I still wanna Multibox WoW and "single" Play WAR(Pre-Ordered CE). So i get My PvE and my PvP like I want it ;)

Ok think of this....
WWI2008 - June (Not 2nd half)
Blizcon - August (2nd Half) Now way are they going to give up a massive feature to flaunt than sneak peak of near final release of WotLK
We are logicly on a business point of view September - November or if delays the new year.
There is no way blizzard would do it in December, cutting it TOO fine for xmas launch plus if they sell out then people will be screwed until deliveries for stores for the new year.

Only one thought Skuggo, lies.
Its all lies! Everyone knows how slow blizzard moves, and they haven't even begun beta for WotLK have they? Vivendi can say whatever they want, but it doesn't mean anything for how blizzard will operate.
The document quoted is a financial forecast. The financial year runs from April to April. Second half means somewhere between 1st October 2008 and 31st March 2009.

One of the reason Blizzard is such a renowned game producer is because they follow the thought that "We'll release it when it's done, not a minute sooner." They work out a great deal of bugs in beta before they dump it. And I don't think they've gone Beta yet (they're still offering Beta acceptance as rewards for various contests).
I don't mind waiting a little longer =D

It's simple business. It looks better to their stock holders and possible investors if they say they can get it out for the xmas / thanksgiving season.

Somehow I doubt blizzard has to do much of anything to look better to stock holders or investors ;).
