View Full Version : ***FRESH MEAT*** New Dual-Boxer looking for Advice (I read the sticky's/wiki)
Hello!
My name is Cameron, i am 17 living in Australia
A friend of mine wanted to roll a gnome mage. I decided to level three for his one.
I've acquired 3 accounts. with 2 months of credit each. (enough to get to 70 + geared)
Now! This is where i have a few questions!
First
I know about Keyclone, but however would like to try it before buy kind of thing? Is this possible Keyclone... or can i get a refund if it doesnt work (highly unlikely).
I transfered money to my paypal account, but it'll take 5-7 days.
Second
Leveling 3 Mages. I found a short Mage Macro wiki, but am having trouble locating more macro's. Specific to walking/general actions.
(of course i cant really test anything till i can get keyclone or something similar.)
Third
Guild & Name
I love the guild <These ARE my ALTS>
and planning on naming my mages after the 1,2,3 in german.
1 eins
2 zwei
3 drei
Any suggestions here?
Forth
Any advice?
Thankyou for your time!

I'm a new multiboxer myself, so can really only answer one question.
Keyclone works, and works well. You can download a version - in fact if you look at the menu bar at the top there is a link to keyclone that downloads a file.
I downloaded keyclone the other day, and have been running so it seems that it may be runnable for a period of time before paying.
I wasn't too clear on how you pay for keyclone, whether it will pop up when a trial is expired.
For macros for various classes I tend to type wowwiki <class> macro into google - you could just go straight to wowwiki and type it in to their search box. There are loads of macros, they wont have multiboxer macros.

First: Nope no Trial,(Which makes me wonder about Shaemen's post above) though I can tell you the majority of us use it because A) It's easily setup(works right out of the "box" so to speak), B) it's highly supported(As you see above he trolls the forums and helps as much as he can :p), C) Despite being arguably the easiest to setup among the software options, it's also fairly feature-rich, with built-in window maximizer/resizer, easily worked blacklists and whitelists, command setups to run wow at specific settings and on specific processor cores, etc.

For movement, ALL movement will have the clones /follow'ing your lead character. It's simply the only viable way to do it, the slightest variation in turn degree or angle makes alts run off course vs your main, whereas /follow keeps 'em behind main at all times. You can still move the lead char completely freely/as normal though, just keep in mind you have a train behind you that you have to maneuver around/over obstacles like fenches and walls cuz they'll turn sharper than you do lol; it's second nature once you're used to it, taking wide turns like a tractor trailer truck basically.
As for macros you can either take the time to manaully macro each hotkey to /assist main and /cast spell, using focus or just basic names, or simply make your alts' hotkeys match your main's exactly and use one "Big Button" macro to make your alts assist your target then simply cast as normal.
Big Button macro:
/tar focus(if you use focus; if not, replace focus with your Lead char's name)
/assist
/follow
/stopcasting(this line is optional, but is a handy way to stop alt's casting if you need to)
Third: I lol'd at the names, those're a good start :p You need a funny german-based guildname to go with it though, just avoid hitler/nazi references if yer on the US servers, even "feurher" will get force-changed even though it doesn't apply solely to mr. short-stache naziman.
Welcome to Boxing and the Forums ;)
I like the names. I've seen them on another boxer and considered stealing them myself.
They remind me of the movie "Cool Runnings" so I'd be tempted to use that as a guild name. Or if your mages are undead, I'd go with <My other mage is a gnome>
Hey I've also been looking into all this, and autohotkeys + keyclone and such. I think im going to give keyclone a try for 20$ i believe... it seems to be what everyone else uses, i was just wondering if having windows of WoW into like 4 corners was the same as having 4 minimized and running?

If they're not minimized I think it takes a lil more CPU power but at the same time minimimizing them may starve them of necessary power, + make it a tad hard to turn stuff in when you need to :p I personally just stack 4 up @ 1024x768, default start position, and the main is windowed fullscreen @ 1280x1024
