One for Rob:

I'm so confused, I don't know where to start. Allow me to braindump.

I'm starting my WoWs from Keyclone and using maximiser.

Do the WoWs run at the resolution specified in game but have the surface scaled/stretched to the size of the maximiser region or do the WoWs run at the resolution of the maximiser regions themselves?
When you PiP, does the resolution change at all?
How does PiP handle regions with differing aspect ratios? Is the PiPped window stretchedor scaled in any way?

I'm building a new UI and I want to be able to PiP between my toons. I'm unclear (as you can see) how PiPping effects the size and position of UI elements, particularly when you're building complex UIs using eePanels, Aperture and that kind of thing.

Could you give me a quick overview.

it's definitely getting to a point of twisting the noodle... a cup of coffee definitely helps :D

ok... the old way of setting the game resolution was to take the dimensions of the region and have wow figure it out from there. people had complained that it was always 800x600 for the small windows... which is what wow would do, as it couldn't determine a proper aspect ratio from 320x256... which is what would be placed in the config.wtf file before wow was started. wow would come up... read the 325x256, not find it in the list of acceptable aspect ratios (speculation here).. and default to 800x600, the smallest res they support.

with the change... you can specify the resolution of each region. this would allow you to set the 325x256 region to a 1280x1024 resolution. wow should read this... be happy.. and render its surfaces for that aspect ratio (more speculation).

if you pip swap the region with another region that is not the same dimensions.. i'm pretty sure wow will end up stretching or squashing the image... so you still want to have your regions be the same aspect ratios.

keep in mind, if you want to use maximizer as it was before, just specify '1-to-1' as the resolution.. and it will place the width x height of the region into the config.wtf before starting up.

also... if you change your screen resolution, you will need to restart keyclone in order for it to pick up the new screen res, which is used by the maximizer editor.

finally (whew!), any maximizer resolution changes you make will not take affect until after you restart the wow in that region. un-maximizing and re-maximizing won't do it... as wow has to read the resolution art startup.

So if I select a resolution from the drop-down on the maximiser page, WoW will run at that resolution and the resulting image will be scaled to whatever resolution the maximiser region is set to?

yes.. and you can specify your own resolution by typing it into the box.. separating the width and height by an x (keeping the same format as the other resolutions)

This is without doubt the 2nd best feature you have introduced Rob, the first was BOOBS ;)
