Argh, I've been coming to these forums for quite a while. Year and a half maybe, but now I can't stop myself. I have to multibox as well :( ;)
My PC is powerful enough, I just want a second monitor because I want to do a 5 man multibox.
Things like keyclose and macro's I'll prolly figure out by reading some guides. But I'm still stuck at class-picking. I as many others ofcourse will be focussing on PvE instancing for the first 60 levels or so.
So my question is, is an AoE-ing feasible? Can I take 5 AoE mages through an instance at the recommended level (so say 1-3 levels above a normal party)? Or 3 mages, a priest and a tank? Or 4 and a tank? etc etc.
Im really torn between 5 shamans or the AoE-mage idea. But I dont know if a team of mages could do it. They'd at least need a healer right?

I just started 3 shamans two weeks ago and I believe they aoe just as well, if not better than mages in some cases.
I drop stone talon totems and then cast fire nova follow by magna. I can usually take down a large pack without healing too much.

I leveled my orignal shaman to 70 using aoe tactics. The exp was fantastic in some areas, but questing is much better towards the mid 40's

Ah yes, that's true. The 'problem' with mages is they kinda need a healer. So you'll miss at least 1 DPS-er for a healer, 5 shamans don't have that problem. But AoE-ing with 5 mages through an instances sounds so fun :D

I started out with a 4x cloth dps + priest group. For instances that was painful, for pvp it was painful.
For PvE, dropping a dps for a pally tank makes the night/day difference. For PvE, having at least one shaman in the group for tremor totems is highly recommended.

For leveling or questing, nearly anything will go. But at 70 you can not outlevel instances anymore. Therefore it makes good sense to think ahead and level the chars that you need later at 70.
For leveling, it will be either you pressing the nuke button once or twice to kill a mob. Chances are that this does not change at all or much between having three or five dps chars.

I bold-ed the issues that makes me think I should put a paladin in. How bout a paladin with 4 shamans? Wont that hamper the DPS too much? I mean will the tanking character help more than 1 DPS-er?

4 Shamans + Paladin OR Priest/Paladin/3 Mages are both good PvE setups.

I like the idea of a protection paladin and for holy-nova priests bombing through instances. Someone mentioned that a while ago here in the forums.

Sounds great guys, thanks for the help. I will be focussing 90% op PvE. Solo-ing instances and grinding tough area's sounds so much fun. Fun albeit expensive ;)

I just finished leveling a group of 4 fire/arcane mages + 1 prot pally to 70 here recently. It is definitely interesting. You don't really need the pally until outlands instances but having a rezzer in the group is important as you do make mistakes from time to time. ;)

Well now my choise rests between 4x shammy + paladin or 3 mages, 1 holy priest and prot pally.
I think both party's have possiblity's to AoE. Is one of these party's better than the other? Or is it just personal preference?
