Hello everyone,

I recently dinged 70 with my 4 Shaman+Druid and I've been doing quite a lot of PvP.
I have this big problem mainly when running Alterac. Sometimes I get to the middle, enemies are really there and It doesn't display in any of my clients (only long time after). Shattrah is extremely poor in performance too and I mean it's really bad. Elements really take too long to display and I move at 4-5 fps :/. All in all, sometimes I "loose" my alts in the way because it lags.

Overall in Outland I never get this fluid sensation in terms of visual performance and I really expected so much more from this machine ;(

I set up keyclone to display 15-30 on main and 12-15 on alts. Visual settings set to the minimum on the 4 alts and all minimum except terrain distance on main.

My computer:

Dell Dimension XPS 720 Core 2 Quad-Core Processor Q6600 (2.4GHz,1066FSB, 8MB cache)
4096Mo (4x1024) DDR2 667MHz
Hard Drive 500GB Serial ATA non Raid (7200 Rpm)
DUAL 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8800GT card (one linked to each monitor - main on one alts on the other)
Vista 32 bit Home Edition

Really hope that you can give me a hand here and thank you in advance for your time.

As seen in other threads, multi cards + Multi monitors = baaaaaad fps news. Try a single card and put monitors on Horizontal Span and see if that helps any

Yep...pull one card, plug both monitors into the single card and setup DualView in Vista. You'll see an immediate performance increase.

Thank you very much.
Going to try tonight and let you know so it might also help others.

Not being very computer sentient, I was wondering if it wasn't really the fact of only having one disk. When, for example, the first encounter with alliance occurs or when I get to Shat a lot of textures and polygons(?) have to be loaded and the system is accessing 5 times the same disk in 5 different locations (I have 5 separate WoW installs).

That is another thing that was never quite clear to me, the impact in overall performance of having several/one disk and/or several/one WoW directories. If someone is willing to enlighten me I thank you in advance.

Regards,
Mortah

Several dirs = extra load queues(someone tracked it in another thread a couple months ago and the access time was MUCH higher than single-install, or multi-install with Symbolic Link enabled on the Data folder(s)

Thank you sooo Much Eteocles!

I really thank you so much, I still can't believe that removing hardware improves performance :pinch: It's really too much for my computer n00b head

I still have slight issues but here it's really related to disk access (still occasionally losing an alt on the way due to fps drop/freeze). I don't have a RAID, the disk I mentioned is a single disk.

What is your opinion on one or several disks to run separate copies regarding performance (5 boxing)?

Thanks again,
Mortah

If I recall right it runs just as well if not better as a 1 wow per drive thing
