First off let me just thank everyone for contributing sooo much knowledge you have all helped resurrect my interest in WoW.
My settup is basicaly, autohotkey on my main computer where i use a priest as my main and warlock as my second. on my other box i use synergy to control my 3rd character (another lock). this enables me to use one mouse and one keyboard for all 3.
i have several problems which are mostly wow related i guess but maybe there are software solutions...
- i have to toggle the ~ key to broadcast keystrokes to the second computer. its not the end of the world but if i have to move during combat and forget to toggle it breaks follow and then i have to mash keys to try and get back together - meanwhile im dead.
- i currently have both my locks /assist and then /cast[nosmellybreath,thisandthat,etc]immolate (or whatever) before they cast any spell that would target an enemy but sometimes my pets (especially the imp) attacks a different target than the one i am targeting with my main. this seems to happen most frequently when i attack with the pet before casting anything at the unintentional enemy.
- the biggest problem is my button settup. i use 1-10 for both my priest and warlocks so 1=melee 2=smite/shadowbolt etc. as you can tell this is a big problem because when i get to a number like 5 which is heal for priest and curse of agony for locks things get confused. for one i cant target something different with my priest without hitting escape because i am ready to heal something an d this just adds to the general confusion.
i really need to have things keyable because my mousework is just too slow, especially across 3 monitors! i saw that Zin has it settup so that alt+1-10 equal an alternate spell but im not sure how to set this up.
im sure i have come across other problems but those are the biggest. any advice is most welcome.
again, thanks!

There is a lil annoying thing that after targeting an enemy with your main you should wait like 1 second before hitting assist button. Otherwise your assist macro on new target probably will fail. Keep it in mind for all time. I have learnt it myself so now I always remember about it and almost not getting such problem with wrong target :)

Okay, when u hit your "heal" button you probably have an enemy in target, aight? This makes your priest to wait untill it gets friendly target to heal or untill "heal" button will be clicked again or untill ESC key will be hitted, before that it wont cast any other spell. My shaman heal macros are like:
/target focus
/cast Healing Wave
/targetlasttarget
where focus is my dr00d tank. So basically my shamans attack an enemy with lightning bolts, then I hit a button with the macro, they heal me and target the enemy once again.

You would probably want to unbind your movement keys from your 2nd & 3rd machines, and just have your alts follow your main around. What I do is unbind AWSD on my alts, but leave the arrow keys bound, that way if I need to move all my guys I still can. This way you don't need to toggle broadcasting all the time...

This is a latency issue, as Unit187aid - just allow 1 sec or so after you have your alts assist you before attacking.

There's a few things you can do here...
1. Write a cast sequence macro for your locks and assign it to one button - that way you can mash one button to cycle through your locks spells. Ths frees up other buttons for priest spells
2. Use a mod like Healbot for your healing. This lets you cast various spell on yourself and alts with combinations of keys & mouse buttons
Also remember you're not just limited to the 1-10 keys, and you can reassign any key to do another action other than what it defaults to. Like the 'H' char brings up the honour page by default, something which is easily accessed through the char pane anyway. Why not reassign it to a healing macro?

thanks for the replys! this is tremendously helpful.
it brings up a few more questions for me though...
- the only way i am aware that you can cast multiple spells with one keypress is with /script and i thought this was no longer in use.. could you please give me a sample that you might use for a 'cast sequence'? (very intrigued) this is just what i need.
- is healbot legal in wow?
- unbinding the movement keys would be a good idea but my problem is still this: if i need to move my main during combat and the locs are casting they will still move and interrupt their casting because they are in follow mode... hmmm maybe i coud have them stop following when they start to cast something...
- is there a macro that forces a character to face the target? kind of like drain life does? (although with drain you still have to be facing the target) i have severe problems when somebody gets behind me.
- i also haven't been able to resolve my inability to cast fear on different targets effectively. having 2 locks cast fear on the same target is kind of pointless and yet it seems really difficult to change to the target i want when ive agro'd 5 mobs (usualy the only time i need fear). i generaly use tab to do this.
phew! thanks again for your help.

Check sticky thread about wow macros. There are links to guides where u can learn about castsequence macro. Its simple tho ;)

yes, its an addon, not some software

solution is simple, you do one fast click on, for example, Turn Left key. The alts stop following but not casting.

no

The only way to do it is: u target one mob, lock1 assists you and casts fear, u target another mob, lock2 assists you and casts fear
