So up until this weekend my systems run perfectly. I've been getting random lockups since Friday, I updated KeyClone & Carbonite and since then I've had nothing but crap luck with WoW. The odd thing is it's not replicatable, however it's very consistent in it's behavior...

I start up all 5 copies of wow, and within minutes all 5 copies simply stop responding. at the same time my Ventrilo stops as well. I've rebooted, run the repair, etc... Vent works fine indefinitely without WoW running...

I'm at a loss, any suggestions?

A)Format
B)buy a new pcThank you so much for such amazingly useful advice... I never would have thought about it...

Ya know, I COULD burn down the house and buy a new one to put the computer in... wow, that would fix it!

:D

anyhow... do you think the problem is restricted to wow, keyclone, and carbonite?
do you still have the problem if you turn off carbonite?

btw, make sure to get v1.8i alpha .. might help with mouse issues (although i don't think i resolved any hang issues...)

heat maybe? never had issues with keyclone... any lockups were my old system overloading/overheating

Most likely this ^^

Or your power supply is giving it up. It certainly sounds like a hardware issue. Figuring out which one is the hard part.

How old is your power supply? It might be getting old and starting to chug.

If that isn't the case, try taking your computer outside with a can of airduster and giving it a nice spring clean.
You'd be amazed at what a simple airblower will solve. It drops it a couple degrees because it removes all that extra dust build up in your vent system.

I should clarify...

The system isn't locking up. Only wow is. Windows is 100% responsive, the 5 wow clients stop using CPU and their graphics stop updating and t hey stay on screen... you can do anything else you want. End task kills them after prompting are you sure...

PSU is solid and relatively new, the entire system got overhauled twice in the last year so nothing is more than 12 months old, the PSU it's self is an Antec 650w.

I've played for hours on end without any problems with 1 client, however 5 boxing locks all 5 up.. I also have a huge problem with network sync issues, two or more clients that simply won't see what the others are doing and eventually disconnect from server... etc.

No spyware... no malware... I'm perplexed.

All the temps show fine and in normal operating levels.

Are you monitoring temps/performance on your video card? I would also run a memtest86 on your RAM.

It is the new version of keyclone. I had the same issue going back to the older version solved all my issues this weekend.

version g works fine, version h caused random lockups of keyclone not Wow. I have not tried the new i version yet.

It's not keyclone, I've had the same problem with 3 versions of keyclone and without keyclone.

I'll know more tonight but it looks like either faulty hardware or my network stack is going to shit in Vista... I'm replacing the onboard NIC with a PCI-X NIC tonight.
