heres a silly question .. how the hell can you guys afford this ? "this" i mean as to being able to afford running 5+ accounts at once ?

I don't know much about WoW and that seems to be the main point here but in Everquest it cost 15 bucks a month per account

so um ? lets say you have a 5 - box .. thats 15 x 5 = $75 bucks a month ??

I don't know if your aware of Sam Deathwalker in EQ .. but he 24 box's .. yes 24 accounts .. 24 x 15 = $360 a month ? ??

I think its 15 bucks a month for WoW also so .. how are u guys affording this ? are you all Doctors or well jobed ? lol - I get paid semi-well and I have around 28 EQ accounts .. but I simply cannot afford to have them all active lol .. I keep about 2 accounts active monthly and can afford 30 bucks a month ..

My cell phone bill is $90 a month .. so I guess I either give up my cell phone to play games which will never happen as I need it for my job lol :)

just some imput and stuff I been wondering about :)
don't flame me - just a simple question

Man, I been trying to play this game more to stop my damn drinking every weekend. I would spend 50-100 bucks a night easy on any given Thurs, Fri, or Sat.

So...my point is- Spending 30 bucks a month on 2 accounts is saving me money. And the only reason I haven't got my 3rd or 4th account is cause I'm too lazy to setup all the Autohotkey scripts and I'm focusing on getting my current 60+ toons to 70 before I start over with 3-4 accounts to level up.

I don't think I'll go for more than the 2 accounts I currently play.
30$ a month is nothing, considering that if it weren't for WoW id prolly be spending my free time watching TV, what does cable cost? the cheep 60ish channel package would cost me about 30$ a month. So realistically my entertainment budget is about the same.

I currently have 2 WOW accounts a third for my wife, we are thinking of adding a 4th for the kids. As well as having an EQ2 account for myself.

It depends on where one spends their money to be honest, TV?, Phone?, Gas?, Cars?, Movies?...

Everyone has a vice in life, for some people that is WOW.

Hey BobaFett,

your question is not dumb, but it is a question of perspective. I have five active WoW accounts right now. I used to have two WoW accounts and one UO account. I used to have 7 UO accounts. With a six month plan that is 10 Euro and a few cents per account per month.

Looking at 50 euro a month sounds a lot, but it depends what use you make of it. If you break it down per hour played it is ridiculously cheap entertainment compared with alternatives.

If I go out to the movies and just pay for parking, popcorn, movie ticket and a drink, I am sure to be more than halfway across my monthly subscription fees. Going out for food and drinks is the same situation. However, for the 50 euro in wow accounts, I dont get just two evenings of entertainment, I can get entertainment every evening of the month if I want to. So I dare calling even 5-Box WoW 15 times cheaper than going out. Admittedly, a single account is even cheaper, but hey allow me some fun.

For me personally there are no TV, telephone or mobile phone costs. I got rid of all that rubbish. A phone at work and broadband at home does the trick for me. TV has nothing to offer for me, the few good series you can get on DVD.

thank you for all the imput, I would love to activate all 28 of my accounts lol, just can't afford it. Im thinking about getting a 4th PC built so I will be able to 8 box if anything .. 2 accounts per computer - just trying to save my pennies here and there.. in the process of getting marryed so thats a big chunk of change right there.

but thanx for the imput :)

75$ a month is not that much, considering how much I used to spend on DVDs and console games. Heck, not buying a PS3 saves a huge chunk of change.

10cents a package. It's not food, it's merely filler for your stomach to trick your mind into thinking you're not hungry.

well, i guess that they ain't using them on "social" stuff.

but i can't understant how people can live without TV and telephone. dude, how are you suposed to get in contact with your friends withoute using the computer?

i do dual box, and well, i use game card, and that costs like 249*2 wich is 498kr wich is 1/4th of what i earn each month, 400 of the earnings goes to the training studio
and well, the rest goes to random stuff.

but i guess that you lives in your own house, etc, so you prolly have bills to pay etc.

Well, I dualbox, so the 26€ (donno what the exchange rate for dollar is right now) don't hurt that much. The monthly fee is not the problem, the hardware is (at least in europe). I always marvel at the cost of your dualboxing machines. You can raise the price by 50-100%, then you have the european price for a comparable machine.

My PC was not the latest one, when I started playing WoW, but it did the trick and most of the time I could even leave the line of sight set to medium or far. Being an university student and living on the rather slim amount of 500€ a month kinda makes it impossible to dualbox TBC.

My master box is my PC with roughly 2 GHz, 1GB RAM and a Radeon 9600. My slave box is my laptop with some pentium mobile, 512MB RAM and shared memory graphics chip. Dualboxing the "old world" with graphical settings set to low on the laptop and medium on the PC worked out pretty well, though it also was the reason I would never be able to use keyboard broadcasting. But now I even have to set the PC to low graphics to be able to run around shattrath with more than 10 frames per second. Not to mention graphically heavy areas like Nagrand. The reason is simple: Blizzard basically increased the polygon count in most of Burning Crusade by up to 25%. "Rounder" weapons, asymetrical armor, "prettier" mobs and landscapes - most people were thrilled (well, I was too of course), I was horrified.

So I guess my dualboxing dies right there.

Surely you can find second hand computer stuff in the country you live in? It perhaps isnt new, but then again, who cares. Find some cheap ass stuff and have fun with boxing?
