[Movie] 5 box Shaman Mech (Totem of the void) Farming

This is a video I quickly put together to show you how to farm the Totem of the Void in Mech (including trash pulls). Four of my shaman only have 1 epic item each and mostly the blue pvp gear.

I've gotten about 3 times better now. That was my second run ever with the shamans in Mech. It's a LOT quicker now.

Notice you still wear landslide, there's a quest line that starts in shadowmoon valley that is pretty easy to solo apart from the twin bosses in arca (need a tank for that one, at least I did. >.> But I was only 4 shaman). Quest in arca needs you to get to the second last room only. Can skip the first boss. :p This questline offers a pretty decent blue shield that will last quite nicely until epics for elemental shaman. *nod* Did the entire questline on 4 shaman in about 3-4 hours myself.

Nice movie, I'm soon going to start doing that with 4 shaman myself, I reckon the difference between 4 and 5 shaman isn't much tho so it should work. If I can't, I'll bring in my enhancement shaman, which in full pvp gear functions as a tank anyways. xP

That totem is a must for elemental shamans.
It took me 20 "cache of the legion" runs to get it for my team of five...

Nice video. It took me at least 20 runs as well -- first few were rough, as it was really easy to screw up the pulls and end up getting a bunch of adds. After the 10th cache run, I was an expert at it and could down both gatekeepers and loot the box in 20 mins -- sync'ed with my (fire/earth) elemental cooldowns.

I think I got 3 totems in my first 4 runs. Then didn't see another one drop till run #15 or so. figures.

On the totem of the void, did you guys check out that haste totem, think it was from badges, how is that compared to this one? anyone ever did some research on them?

just right click save as, and then save somewhere and u can open from ur pc :)

Managed to get all 5 totem of the voids by the way. This farming also gave me the rep for Sha'tar to buy the crit trinket and spell damage enchant to head slot. Very worth-while grind!

quick question, i noticed only 4 totems of wrath. did u have 1 resto for a little extra survivability or does that totem only stack to 4? still new to shaman boxing @ lvl 42

edit: also very good movie, since i only 3 box i get to run with my friends tank and his lock i hope we can do this. prolly gonna be way slower than you did it lol, friggin 11 minutes to clear to the chest nice

One of my shamans is speced 40.0.21 - I never bothered to change it - so he doesn't get totem of wrath - I just use a searing totem for him.

i'm 16/21 into revered now and still only 2 out of 4 totems :(

i mastered the instance now thou, as I work with holy priest 4 shamans theres very few downtime, dont even have to use elementals, the shammies just tank :p

I just set up my totems in the middle of first room, pop a heroism, nuke down the whole room in 50 seconds (<3 heroism), then go right, nuke the packs without any LOS or so, as I can just flash heal & circle of healing through it all

fastest run so far was 9 minutes i think

lol - very nice. I got so much better at it. I recorded my second run. By the 20th I was a pro. Not quite as good as nuking the entire first room, but at least a couple packs at a time.

At least you get good shards out of farming Mech.

I just finished my 4 totems, it took me about 30 runs. I did about 15 of them with just my four shamans, and had guildies help now and then the other 15 runs.

Tedious. Earth elementals can be very dodgy sometimes. xP

Finally got my 4 totems now, didn't count the runs, but I went from neutral to 999/1000 exalted before my last dropped, quite harsh.

At least I get a discount on the head enchant now! ;)

As far as gear. I believe I had all the normal quest gear and maybe 2 or 3 blue pvp items. I might have also had the pvp mace as well. Probably like 450 spell damage at the most per toon - aside from my main who had around 700 or so.

Right now I only have spell damage of about 750x1 and 630x4.

I finally got around to bringing my 4 shamans into Mech to do this... I just did my first run. Very easy and smooth. Did not even have to use the Elementals, although it probably would have helped save me from healing so much. Great Video, Very informative. Thanks for all the Tips. It defiantly helped a bunch.

I will give an update when i get all 4 totems of how many runs it takes. so far i am at 0% for 1 runs... lol

took me about 30 goes at the chest to get 4 voids. But im glad ive got 4 of them, it is a very very solid totem.

I collected some of my data. I feel a little lucky compared to the rest of you on how many times it took me. It did take me 8 runs though just to see it drop once. on the 10th run I got my 2nd one and the the 13th time and then Finally the 15th Time I got my 4th and final Totem. I had to run one more time and i completed the Instance to hit Revered. So now i was also able to get my head enchant. Woo. I probably would not have done it if I had not seen this Video. Thanks again on the Excellent Guide.

I've been farming totem of the void after watching this video. ( nice video! )
I have learned so much about my team from doing this farm, I try to clear the first room after the center mech is down with a single set of totems ( don't always make it but I try to )

but I must be the unluckiest person in the world.
14 runs, an only 1 totem ;(

Meant to say thanks Kicksome for making this video and I agree the commentary was great.

So far on 3-1/2 runs I got 1 Totem of the Void, on my first run! :) I aborted the 4th run, was getting tired and with S2 almost out I decided to improve my gear that way for a bit then come back to Mech.

Now that I have my gavels x 5 and +40 spell damage my group has gained over 1000 spell damage as a whole so I'll be hitting Mech again real soon. :)

AV is a little bit rough for me still with about 100 resil and 390 spell damage.

I did the mech farming as soon as i hit 70. At first it took me about 40 minutes to do a clear with 3-4 wipes, but as i did it more , i did it at around 25 minutes per run.

Is this doable at lvl 68 or 69 with quest gear? 5-Shams... I figured that'll save me a level or so of questing and leave the quests to do for when i'm level 70 to get more $$$ out of them. Just wondering..

Edit: i just remembered I gotta fly up there.. NVM, unless of course summon works - can't remember anymore.

I know you used to NOT be able to summon up there but with the changes of warlock being able to summon inside instances I think it is worth a shot.

Pretty sure they removed the "no summoning" rule in that zone a few patches back.
