ethernet card worth it?

i was thinking that semi-new nic card my BigFoot the killer k1 ('http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833342002') do you think it would help multi boxing, for the fact og running so much through the network?

I could never justify spending £100 on a NIC, unless it was designed for extremely high loads ala Industry standard ;-)

but its an interesting concept, like if your card(s) are maxed out with several boxes, it might be? and maybe it would postpone a person from buying new box(es)

I'll take a very simplistic look at the problem.

The bandwidth of your cable modem/DSL is probably less then 100 Mbps, put in a 1 Gbps network card and we can comfortable say bandwidth is not an issue.

I can see shaving off ms of latency with tricks, and I can see sending more smaller packets then larger, but If you want to work on solving your latency issue look into a nice business quality T1 with a service level agreement. When I look at where my latency is, it is in the hop from my router to the cable network, and going thru the cable network to get to their point of presence. When I go from one end of my state to the other on the residential cable network it can take up to 80 ms, sometimes 90 - 110 ms, it is not uncommon to see 20 - 30 ms of latency for similar routes on some of the T1 connections I use.
