View Full Version : PC & Laptop - Tell laptop what to do (WoW)

First off, let me apologize if this has already been discussed. I promise I did read around and search before deciding to post a new thread. While I may have looked right over the answer without even realizing it, I was unable to find anything sufficient enough to solve my issue.

I currently use my PC and Laptop and play two accounts on WoW. They are sitting side by side. I have my healer on follow, and on the laptop. I reach over and press the hotkeys to heal me as I fight. It works out well, but can be a bother on harder fights. Especially since the only free space for my laptop is to my right, causing me to cross arms when I reach over to heal myself. Sometimes I end up looking like a pretzel ;)

My question is this ... is there a way that I could press a key while playing my main on my PC, and have it tell my healer on my laptop to "cast renew" etc.? I tried to find maybe an add on or macro to "listen for tells and take action" but could only find ones that worked out of combat.

Am I searching for the holy grail here? Or is it actually possible?

You can either go KeyClone (great product and constantly updated, developer is also a mod on these forums), AutoHotKey and the others that are listed on the link above.

Let me start with an initial "thank you" for your reply and links to something I should have been able to find on my own. I know how annoying it can be when n00bs come by forums looking for answers that they should have found. I actually do a lot of volunteer work on a police website where the public can come discuss things with cops from all around the world. Nothing more annoying than answering the "I got a ticket for .... how can I ...." for the 50th time.

My next question is this: Both of those programs appear as if you need to run two instances of WoW on the same computer. I can't really do that on my current machine. Hence the reason I run one on the PC, and one on the laptop. I don't need anything too major, just a way to tell my 70 priest to throw a renew on me (+1800 healing, a renew can carry me through a dozen mobs at once). Is there any way to pass the message from on computer to the other?

Thanks in advance for any replies. You've already been most helpful.

Keyclone can span multiple PCs. You'll need one copy per machine.

I don't know AutoHotKey so I'll leave someone else to comment.

IMO, pick up two copies of KeyClone and you're good to go. I'm not 100% sure if KeyClone allows the mouse to go between two computers (I use Multiplicity for that already) but it might. I'm currently running 1 instance on my desktop and the other four instances on my laptop and the two programs work wonders. Good luck and welcome to the forums and multiboxing!

You all are the greatest! I got it working with Keyclone (was worth the $20). Got the keys mapped to my macros. Now I can follow myself if I lose myself, I can kill anything that is annoying my lowbie (+1000 spell dmg Shadow Word: Pain for the win lol) and I can heal myself now.

Thanks so much for your help. If any of you are ever speeding through NE Atlanta and get a ticket, look me up ;)
