Hey, I figured for some time that this is something I'd like to try sometime, ever since I saw these guys at the local internet café playing hardcore EQ, sitting on a wheeled chair, rushing between comps, playing 4 characters at a time. Looked really cool. I used to play Diablo II with 2 or more accounts at the same time, that really wasn't something I could go back from after I tried it. After playing WoW for a while, I started noticing people multi-boxing in here too. Stalked a guy playing 3 BM hunters and he was absolutely laying waste to his foes. Really cool.

Can I ask if you guys have 1 special, particular reason for playing 5 or more of the same character type at a time? Is it because it's easier too coordinate the keybinds? Maybe because it just looks and feels cool ^_^

Was wondering if the following would be good:
1 Enhancement Shaman
3 BM hunters
1 Resto Shaman (imba survivability & heals)

- But I'm not there yet. Don't have a setup for it yet. Hopefully one day I'll try it. The closest thing I'm at right now is running with two screens with UI elements on one using CT_Viewport and some mods that make stuff easily moved around so as to make it look and feel nice. Got some old screens and a couple of old boxes around, so if I need standard hardware, I've got some to choose from.

Screenshot (http://www.darksideprod.com/temporary/WoW/WoW-DualScreen02.jpg) - not my setup, but mine is basically the same thing.

Guess my comp is ~ok~ for playing two accounts at a time with low graphic settings. I'd probably start out with two and take it from there. Wish me luck!

People play many of the same character because it's easier to coordinate keybinds. You can make use of different abilities of the same class on the same mob which you might not otherwise be able to use (multiple curses for warlocks).

Basically any class you pick, if you take 5 of them, they're going to be bad ass. 5 shadowbolts anyone? 5 pyroblasts? 5 anything at the same time is a devastating combination. So they're easy to use and deadly to boot. Especially for the people who play pvp, there's a lot going on as is in pvp without having to work on 3-5 different key setups and memorizing that many abilities.

I think a lot of boxers are toying with combinations of classes though. There's some more challenge in it and sometimes more utility, for doing harder instances for example; you really need a tank.

I hope that somewhat answers your question, and maybe someone can come behind me and add to it.

Btw, I play a warrior, priest, and 3 locks, with a paladin and 3 mages for alternates.

I whouldn't recommend hunters.
Although they sound nice in theory (good dmg even without mana if necessary) they are a pain to position. And if a tanked mob runs towards your hunters their dps decreases considerably. A mage or lock will still be able to nuke hard in that situation.

you will have to spread out for pretty long distance... that basically wont work imo

Isn't this as simple as going BM and -not- drawing aggro from your pet?

That's basically what I do. I have a boar to tank, and a raptor to DPS, but both of my hunters are BM spec. It works nicely, and I never ever steal aggro from my pets.

Thanks all.
Hehe I guess that deadzone is a problem. On the other hand, hunters have decent survivability and if you've got 3 of them + pets, all buffed and Ferocious Inspiration ticking, they're not in a joint effort, even in melee. That's what I thought anyway =)

Mian advantage with hunters I'd have thought is the agro-reset of Feign Death...

I briefly tried two but got lost in a pair of 'locks instead, I may well go back to hunters as overall I prefer them :?

You should try 1 BM hunter with turtle pet (it has nice shield you know) and 2nd hunter MM with trueshot aura and dps pet. You shouldnt be able to draw aggro from BM pet anyways, it is insane ;)

Also, you've got Misdirection, can easily be macroed I guess:
/tar MyPet
/cast Misdirection

How about a third, a Survival Hunter with Expose Weakness?
