Hello everyone. I have played horde side on Shadow Council from the beginning of my WoW experience. Very casual at first. Now that i am looking to set up for a 5 box it is a bit more of an investment.

I am interested in high end 5 mans and maybe bigger raids. I am interested in pvp (bg and probably arena).

I have had some really nice 29 and 39 twinks on both horde and ally side but as i said i mainly played horde side. I know this has been asked many times, i am not looking for an absolute answer. I am wondering what your experiences have been rolling on horde and ally side and why you decided to stay wherever you did.

It seems like the horde racial traits are really hard to give up. Orc free rage damage, 15 stun resist, 5% bonus damage on pets... its very secksy for just about any class.

Tauren +5% health and warstomp? Very pretty too. Ally racials seem... well... they are shy at least.

I have found some great friends to hang with horde side and not really met many peeps ally side. How have you felt the culture of horde and ally flesh out? Any servers to recommend?

I just liked some of the "look" synergy with the ally. All dwarf team or all space goat team. I want a pally and don't really like the belf for pally.

/thanks

Hiya Rowdy,

Firstly, welcome to the forums! Here's my 2c on the subject...

The general consensus is that Horde racials > Alliance Racials, and this is one of the main reason people choose Horde.

The three best IMO are:
WOTF - AOE fear is a boxer's Achilles heel, to be able to immediately dispel it, or to use proactively for 6 secs of fear immunity is invalueable.
Blood Fury - great pvp racial, especially when trying to burst down an opponent. Blood Fury + trinket + Bloodlust = massive Pew Pew.
Warstomp - can be chained together 3 times before DR makes a toon immune. Great for Shamans, as they have no CC.

Conversely the only Alliance racials I find appealing would be Perception for humans and to a lesser degree Escape Artist (which can be resisted).

From a culture pespective, there isn't that much difference. You'll get idiots no matter which faction you choose...there is a percetion that Alliance players tend to complain more than Horde players, I don't know how true this is though.

Personally speaking, I also like the looks of the Horde races...they are edgier, more non-conformist that the Alliance ones.

If you're going to box, and you roll Horde - definitely come and check out Magtheridon. We have an established guild and thanks to pioneers like Xzin and Ebola, multiboxing is well recevied there.

Cheers,

There is only one option...

...5x night elf hunters named various flavours of Legol(?)ass.

Why? 5x Shadowmeld with stealth pets and *BOOM!* ... I see dead people.

Bonus: All forum QQers can be dismissed with a simple "u got Legolassed go kill urself n00b". Not only ownage ingame but also on the forums.

Truly you are a gaming god and wannabes will be worshipping you for years on gaming boards all over the world. New MMORPGs will have NPCs dedicated to you and you will achieve internet immortality via the church of WIKI. May your arrows fly true and your kill count always surpass that of the smelly dwarf.

Thanks tons for the offer. I checked and the realm is pvp. I have been on a pve server so far. And it is a big leap because i can't transfer any of my toons over there. I don't mind pvp and if there were pvp heavy areas that is great... but i don't really know how pvp realms work. Getting ganked while leveling is not a really happy event. Once and a while is total fun. But leveling can be hassle enough.

I like a lot of the "look" of the horde as well. I wish their posture was not so "hunched" on so many of them though. I haven't played UD much but i have seen the win in both orc and tauren.

For ally i like dwarf and space goat. Wish we had more options for pally on horde... but maybe the deathknight will be a good tank?

It all comes down to what you want to do. If you pvp more than PVE, then horde in general have best que times for BGs. On realms where Horde out number allaince, alliance should have better que times. 2 years ago Horde pop was mostly older players 20 or older. that has now changed with new races. Not for the better for Horde. Check into population of server and bg grp. If you want PVE content then allaince may be a better pick. If you only wangt 5 man content then it does not matter. On pvp server ( depending on sever) 5 undead is always a good start. :)

Being ganked while levelling is character building. It builds your character into one which will gank on sight any of the peons that made levelling so much of a challenge for you. But payback is oh so sweet!

I bet that the ganking is why so many love to level in instances on pvp servers. I am sure it builds character, but at a certain point it is built. Bake any food stuff too long and it is not good. Too much of a good thing is not a better thing imho. :D

I also don't want to ever be ganking lowbie toons struggling to level. I guess i am why there are pve realms.

Sometimes it's nice to just go out and find (or start) trouble if you want it ;p Or if you're particularly angry that day you can go out and start a shitstorm of trouble. I don't recall why but I got super-freakin pissed one day and went and ganked every square inch, every orc troll zombie elf and cow, every god-damn pet in the entire map of Hellfire peninsula, and not even in your own towns were you safe...I also fraps'd most of it and made a nice little video >D lol

But payback is oh so sweet!I agree on the character building. Dust yourself off on those occasions when you do get beatup. Review what you could have done to maybe win against unbeatable odds. Believe me, those on the other end are sweating bullets when they get close to dying. Will think twice the next time they see you if the odds are not in their favor.

The other thing to remember is that if you roll on mag, you are not alone! We will always come and help you out if you are getting camped. Nothing funnier than seeing 3 or 4 level 70's in S3 gear getting stomped by 15 shamans. :D

I've made multiboxing at least KNOWN on Shadow Council. /wave fellow Shadow Council Boxer.

I had a few 60's horde side pre-BC, and my 70s alliance side post. What racials you want is largely determined by your group. Fear Ward used to be a big one. Not anymore now. Still Draenei auras are nice, humans are great to have vs rogues, and the others have their respective strangths. In my experience on Shadow Council (so don't anyone else take this out of context) you get more jackasses horde side, but honestly there are some great players on both sides, and I may just be looking back with bitterness. As a multiboxer though, I don't get nearly as much crap on Alliance side about it as I did horde side, but this also may be because I've been around for so long when I hopped the fence.

Still, if you've got some nice people to hang with horde side, its a great choice, and the racials are pretty nice. Whatever you go with, I look forward to seeing you in game.
