My first day in the Arenas

I made my lvl 70 Priest/4xLock team many months ago then started on my 5xShaman team just for fun. Then stopped playing for 3 months due to work and such. After coming back to WoW this week, I heard as long as you play 10 Arena games (win or lose) a week you get Arena points. So I thought why not, I'll just mess around and accumulate some Arena points and get better items.

So far my record is 1-12 (1 win came from a team that just quit for some reason) and I think I managed to get 1 kill during the 13 games played :wacko: .

Just wondering if you are really able to get decent items just by playing 10 Arena games a week or if it's better to play more and if any other Priest/4xLock teams have any strategies that they are willing to share.

I'm shooting for 2 kills next week :thumbsup: .

1500's are actually quite difficult, i went down to 1350s before i started winning and now im around 1450. Occasionally i sub in a pally in my 5th spot todo some heals and it works well.
You will become a smarter arena player without knowing it and in a few weeks it will be more like 7w 3losses
currently im 19w 31l in total and my healer is 7w 3l lol

I know my items really really suck, cuz my main thing was lvling the guys and not really gearing them, but I'm really starting to think priest/4xLock combo is not such a good combo for Areans. Hopefully I'm wrong and one day I'll be able to actually win a game lol.

I would like to say ur comments have given me some hope though, now im shooting for 3 kills next week :D .

Don't give up ;) !! can you tell me your toons name? and also your realm/religion. so i can armony your toons. :thumbsup: Actually i am not really big fan of shaman~ :huh: !! way too many multiboxers doing x4, x5 shamans to arena/bg/dungeons. :P

We gotta try something new arena combo like (5xpriest), (shockladin+4xsmite priests), (4xhunters+1 healer), (druid+mages) etc etc...

Bottom of my hearth, i love priest+locks combo. Do you wanna try look for a healer instead of your priest and locks all specc to SL/SL ?
Anyway, i haven't start my team due to real life work.

My lvl 70 priest and 4 locks are Smokebum, Smokebuma-d, and my realm is Coilfang/not sure with battlegroup. Nothing really to look at though, other then if u want to c some crappy items. I also have 4xlvl 64 mages, lvl 58 pally, lvl 58 druid, 5x lvl 61 shamans which fall somewhere in Smokebume-z with equally crappy items.

And I'll probably just keep playing 10 Arena game a week with the priest and locks. Not really interested in playing with them but doesn't really take long to play 10 Arena games and who know maybe I'll be able to get some Arena gear :) .

hehehehe, sounds exactly the same as my team...0-11 first week, 1-9 this week with the win coming from a team insta-leaving and 1 kill all up. I'm at the stage now where it will just be get in, get the games, get out, get the points since I really only want the season 2 maces for my paladin and priest and good main-hands for my casters so am just trying to hit 2700 points before s4 starts.

I don't see the point to even worrying about arena's come the s4 release unless you are purely focused on PvP and arena since nearly everything worthwhile will have rating requirements (even if they are lowered for the s3 gear) that will effectively put them out of reach for casual multi-boxers with non-optimal groups.

I'd actually love to see them keep the arenas bracketed and have each season still available as arena gear but limit the entry along the lines of anyone queued up in a group with at least one peice of s2 gear can't be put into an s1 bracket, etc. This would allow people to avoid bg's if they are only interested in arenas AND be reasonably competitive in the arena bracket they are fighting in as they know no-one else will outgear them by too much. As it is now when I go into an arena with no pvp gear I could be facing a full s3 team and have no chance, if they had all the brackets I'd be facing a team in a maximum of all s1 gear, and if I take the time to get rep for the blue gear I'm fairly even with them so I go around and have some even matches to get points to buy s1 gear....keep playing and get points to buy some s2 gear which them moves me up into the s2 bracket from now on...seems simple, seems fair and puts the sport back into the e-sport.

Hmm... didnt know if I don't use up all my points people would think I bought my account on ebay.... I really wouldn't know is that how urs came Simulacra???

Actually Smokebuma is the only Lock with skills left over I believe. All my locks used to be Demo locks but changed Smokebuma so I can try out Curse of Exhaustion.

By the way I know alot of people have Shaman teams now for heroics and arenas (reason why im lvling my shamans), but has anyone here have had any success with a priest/lock combo in arena. I feel like I'm just wasting them not playing with them at all.

Eh don't worry. I fell down to the high 1200s, low 1300 before I figured out not to blow my load right at the beginning. The hardest and most critical part is deciding when to use your instant cast.

My biggest problem was, immediately after starting to cast my very first volley of Lightning Bolts on my first target, I would mash my macro for trinket, EM, NS, CL. At that point the target would either be behind me, delaying his destruction enough to get healed, or out of LOS, or Spell Reflecting, etc.

Just stay calm, choose your targets carefully, don't blow your instant cast unless you are VERY sure it will kill your opponent.

Yeah. The 1500's a brutal because of all the teams reforming and working up their rating to sell teams / spots I think. I'd say 60-70% of the teams I'd face in the 1500s would be nearly full vengeful and well coordinated. I was at 1350 this week and went 4-6 playing all 5x shamans. (the 6th loss was due to a totally stupid mistake on my part. I was really shooting for .500 for the week which I would have been pretty happy with even in the 1300s). I'm not even close to an expert in arenas, but so far what I've found in the last 4 weeks is it really takes practice multiboxing arenas to know wtf your doing. I'd say I screwed up somewhere in every single game I played and I'm just barely, ever so slightly, getting the hang of it.

Unless your buying a team/rating, don't worry about being in the 1300's. Personally, I think it's much more fun to win a few than to lose every single one each week while gearing up and learning strategy -- but that's just me. (what's the difference in arena pts between 1450-1500 and 1350? 35pts a week?)
