In ny 35 years I've discovered one universal truth - idiots breed, and they breed fast!
Bare with my with I give a little background story. I decided I needed more gold as I was running into resource issues (I was flat broke) on my latest project (5 x Shaman). As these girls were started on a different server to my main I had to fend for myself and earn my own way in the world. After trying to power level their professions (Alchemy, Enchanting, Jewel Crafting) I decided the best thing I could do I send some gold from my main server. And to do this I would need to transfer a character.
So I popped on to my main server piled 15 thousand gold on her and started the transfer process. Unfortunately the character I wanted to transfer is only level 27 so she has a gold limit of 300. And I didn't have any high level character I was willing to transfer. So I decided to purchase trade goods and then resll when she was transfered. The first problem I faced was actualy spending 15 thousand gold! You have no idea how hard it is. I didn't want to buy just anything, I had to be able to resell it on the new server without losing too much gold. So I bought all the trade goods I could find, Primals, Mooncloth, Shadowcloth, Shards, Essences etc. After finally spending the 15k I still had an empty bank bag. As I also had a fair amount of these goods on my main I decided to fill the remaining bank bag. After all the new server the girls were on was quickly becoming my main (Its my GF main server so I have to play there if you know what I mean).
So the muel was transfered and last night I listed most of the trade goods on the AH. I awoke this morning with a Christmass spring in my step as I ran to my computer to check the mail. As you would expect there was a LOT of bling and to my surprise there were a few in-game mails from people.
The first one said "HAX" the second one said "reported". The third one was polite, well structured and to the point. "I have reported you for hacking the world and making gold. No one can have 120 Primal Mooncloth without hacking. Good bye". I left my muel logged in doing an AH scan while I had breakfast and got ready for work. I came back to find my screen full of whispers from one of the people who mailed in. Not bothering to read any of the verbal diorhea I simply replied with "ni hao". Sure it was funny at the time but man did this guy take it poorly. LOL
I managed to have have a brief conversation with him. Basically he said it was "impossible" for anyone to have that much Primal Mooncloth without hacking nor was it possible for me to have 47 (or was it 57 I forget) Primal Might so he and his guild have reported me for "hacking the world". And "all chinese farmaz will be banned from da serverz". I tried, oh God I tried to explain to this poor guy what I did and how I transfered the goods from another server but he simply said I was "hacking the world".
Moral of the story, don't list 15-20K worth of goods in a single night as it brings out the idiots on the serer.

I still have a truck load of high priced items on the AH, I'm dying to see if I have any more in-game mails from idiots when I get home.
I was thinking about slowing dumping the goods but I was secretly curious what would happen if it listed EVERYTHING!
I've come to the conclusion that this server has a higher population of idiots than others I play on. It must be listed as "suitable for 12 year olds" someone on the internet.

I've done the same in the past during char transfers. Never got moaned about though. But then again, on arrival I intentionally didn't flood the market.
I'd say be patient, putting 10 or so max of any high level mat on at once for 2 reasons:
1) So to avoid this abuse
2) To not distort the market, (if you have 50 primal mooncloth all on at the same price, it forces others to undercut you and yours will not sell).
So just be patient, you dont need all the cash NOW! Put it on at average prices and wait for it to sell and you'll make 20% or so more anyway.

Normally when I'm farming mats for sale I respect the market and only list a few big ticket items at a time. But this time I had the opportunity to go to extremes and list EVERYTHING!
I was curious to see if
a) It sold
b) Market prices would dramatically change
c) If I received any comments
d) If any GM action / communication was taken
So far I've sold a lot of the smaller items but most of the big ticket items are still on the AH. 4000+ Mark of Sarg sold. 300+ Primal Life/Mana/Shadow sold. But all my primal cloth is still listed, Primal Mooncloth Bags don't even have bids at half the price. I'm surprised at what is selling and what is not. The market on this server is very different from the market on my old server.
Whatever does not sell today will set in the bank for a while and I'll slowly list it over time, as I normally would. But as an expierment its been interesting.

Noone buys Mooncloth bags of any kind anymore because Netherweave bags match their slots and are 10x cheaper ;p People with far too much gold on their hands buy those silly 400+g 20slotters(and with no less than 2 quests giving you 20slotters now + a 20slot drop in raids I think it's even less necessary) when they're basically paying 30g for 18slots or 400 more gold for 2 slots that won't ever make a difference lol; especially on a newer server where people don't have stockpiles up yet and/or those *bleeping* goldsellers haven't gotten their foothold yet.
Neat idea though, I'd never thought of transfers like that...let us know if anything else sells tomorrow :P

I disagree - Make the moeny now and run like hell.
New content kills the market - as time goes by, the prices will go down. Cash out while you can! :D
he didnt mean selling it over years but days or maybe a week.
try sellin 5-6 stacks of large prismatics in 24 hrs and you'll see

By the time I went to bed last night I'd only made 8,000 gold.
The following have bids and will be sold by the time I finish work:
Primal Mooncloth Bags x5
Primal Mooncloth x 80 (was 120 but a few sold)
Primal Life/Mana/Water/Shadow/Earth x LOTS
Shards x LOTS
Gems, Gems, Gems, Gems & Gems
I'm expecting another 6-10k by the end of the day. But I feel I'd lost money, mainly because I was rushed and bought goods well above market value. And I didn't take my time to compare priceses between servers. All I wanted to do was get gold from one server the another and its worked out well, I can now afford my training and something pretty for the girls :)
Its interesting, but the priceses have not dropped yet. People are not trying to undercut me. And to my disapointment I didn't receive any love more letters this morning.

My main character on my main server has/had over 30k. I gave my transfered charactrer half.
Making gold in BC in dead easy. You can either day dailys or as I prefer, you can farm elementals. My personally favourite are Boglords in Zangar, my farming character, a Warlocks, is a herbalist and a skinner. So she can herbalise the Boglords for a greater chance of mote of life, the herbs that come out of that place are worth it just for those. Or you can farm mana worms in Netherstorm or Fire elementals in Blades Edge. Sure, farming is mind numbing boring and can take a lot of time. Its not everyones cup of tea but I do well at it.
On a 'farming weekend' (1 day, Saturday / Sunday) I can make between 1500-2000 gold. But it does take a bit of time and having a movie marathon on the next monitor helps a lot too. I know people who can make a lot more than that in any given day, but they truely have no life :) LOL

Grasshopper you must learn the ways of golden scale vendor fish, they are gray and vendor for 6 gold each to vendor, they stack to 20, so 120 gold per stack. sell as many as you wish. also gray items from fishing quest some sell for 10-20 gold , they stack also. it takes time to stack these up but what a way to move gold and each as pie to convert. Then again it takes time and planing

Uhm....where would you get the grays in the first place? Its not like people sell grays on the AH.

The grays come from fishing and the fishing quests. when I fish , I fish with 5 chars. Not fun but lots of fish to sell and motes of water and vender scale fish. dialy fishing quests nets grays all the time. save them on banker stack them and transfer char with stacked grays for instanst gold on other side

He had 15K in gold he wanted to transfer. He cannot magically turn his 15K gold into grays from fishing.

My thought process is not to loose gold on auction house cut. Only way to do that is plan ahead. I have stacks of vendor scale fish to bost a new start on another server. also tansfer weapons and items to lvl eng up to 350. have enough gold 8,500 is all thats needed to start a good 5 man grp.
math vendo for vendor scale fish
20 per stack = 120 gold
16 slot bags = 1920 gold
5 16slot bags = 9600 gold
once you add in bank solts you can get past 15k gold with ease. Again this takes lots of fishing. most will not do it but hey I do a lot of things that way :)

Dailies are great for this. My 70Hunter does a circuit of his 25 dailies in about 2 hours, and then feeds the resulting gold to my 5-Shaman Team. On average, the Hunter feeds about 400g per day to the Shammies if I don't spend any of it on him.
The crux is getting time to do that and level the Shammy team. Typically that's only 2-3 times a week, but still that means Shammy teams gold is increasing by 1,000 gold per week.

Ouchy! I've collected todays taking and it appears I've made quite a loss on some trade goods. I bought quite a few stacks of Primal Mights, unfortunately on my old server they averaged ~160g each. But they only sell/sold for 80-110g on the next server. Its roughly a 4k loss. But I was expecting a loss as I didn't put any effort into comparing the market on each server. I simply wanted to move the gold. I've still managed to stock pill enough gold to see them well into 70 and power level their professions and in the end, its all I wanted.

26 weeks for epic flying mounts. /wrists
(this is why people buy gold boys and girls - not that they should. this is just one of the root causes)
Yeah, it would be if he only does it on his hunter. Take that circuit though with his 5 shaman at 70 and it's 2k gold per day, or 13 days for all 5 to have epic mounts. I haven't seen the point to farming mount money with my mains before my team were able to use it, now they are at 70 and all bought their own riding training and mounts and are back up to 1k gold each with 1/2 of SMV to go before starting dailies.
There literally is no reason to buy gold any more since the introduction of dailies and now the upping to 25 quest limit. yes, a case could be made for it back int he days of 40 mans and needing to buy mats for flasks, etc when you didn't have time outside raiding to go farm the mats yourself or grind the gold but now..not so much

The repetitiveness of dailies and raiding killed WoW for me personally. I went weeks just doing the same thing over and over and over grinding money for my epic mount and grinding Kara to get the guild geared. Didn't enjoy it, game wasn't fun and I quit. The whole progression through repetition treadmill pisses me off in general especially when the balance is skewed in the favour of repitition and not progression.

that's the thing though, it comes down to choice still. I have 3 70's that I leveled up solo and raid with, none have their epic mounts or exalted rep with any factions because I couldn't be bothered grinding them for something that doesn't add that much more to the game for me, I'd rather kick back and start a new char, or multibox, etc. When something becomes boring to the point of making me want to quit then rather than quit the overall experience that I enjoy, i just stop doing what's boring me.
Yes, grinding out rep and gear is a bitt of a hassle when you have to go back to regear other people and constantly run instances like heroics and kara that you are over after running so many times but it is still about progression, just not personal progression. Once everyone is over that hurdle it's on to the next hurdle for progression, such as Grull, and again some people will get their items early and have to run it over and over to gear the rest of the raid, but it's always about progression.

Just curious about how you get 25 dailies done in two hours. What route did you take and which dailies did you do? I usually only manage to get about 15 done in that time if I'm lucky - would love to streamline that down a bit...

but they also have a line for doing every daily available, but it only adds like 55g so not sure it will be worth it given it's an extra 2 hours to do according to their times
