Hello!

Its been awhile since I've been here, but I have had a couple real life issues to deal with! Back to multi-boxing for me! I am currently looking at the Nostromo N52te Speedpad. I have heard it is nice to use, but can anyone clarify this?

Is it beneificial, does it work well, is it worth my money? Better than a mouse/keyboard setup?

Thanks!

Hi, I have the n52, hoping one day it might break.. so I have a reason to buy a nice black and blue shiny one...

I find it perfect, I use the thumb key as a shift, the red button as ctrl and then thirteen keys to play with.

I use the numpad for back, strafe left, strafe right and target mob (instead of forwards, as I can use the mouse to walk forwards)

Because it's five keys wide, I can easily co-ordinate my heals across the five characters - the middle row is for this.. with ctrl and shift to choose alternative spells. The top row I use for aggro reduction / taunt, follow, dps, dots and pala threat building.

Bottom row I use for drink, accept all, prayer of healing and err.. i don't remember.. hmm have I even assigned the last one??

Anyway, I only ever need go back to the keyboard when I need to type something.. everything else I think I can do from the pad

Do a search, plenty of reviews and opinions, I use it and like it.

I purchased an ideazon fang this weekend http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823161023

Not that great. The buttons were too small and I kept hitting the wrong ones.

Probably never going to use it again, and I'm too lazy to return it. So if anyone wants it, perhaps as a trade or something. I'd be interested!

i would love to hear more about the new n52. I heard that is doesn't have as many shift states as the older one. Has anyone used both and can weight in on if the new one lost too much functionality or if we still have enough room to play?

I've used the N52 for about 4 years now, I don't know how people play WoW without it. It might take some time to get used to, but it is definitely worth the effort. I don't use the thumbpad for movement by the way, I use the middle keys of the N52 for movement, just like you do on a keyboard. I have shift and ctrl bound to two of the thumbad buttons, once you memorize what all of your keys do (with shift and ctrl too), you'll be lighting fast.

I use a combination of the n52, G15 G-keys and mouse.

I use the mouse for all movement with my right hand, my left hand sits on the n52 with it positioned just to the left of the G15 so I can reach the G-keys with my thumb and index. I have all my main 1-0 hotkeys mapped to the n52 first 10 keys, the bottom 4 are then concencrate, righteous defender and the 2 seperate assists for my mages. I use up on the d-pad as my follow key and the other 3 main directions for my spread macros and I have the red button as a momentary toggle to red-state where I have all my oh-shit keys like loh targettarget macro etc that I need to hit almost instantly.

The g-keys then have mapped my healing macros, eat/drink, mount up etc....things that I need in easy reach but not consistently. I also make sure the healing macros keys are the ones on the very left edge so they are closest to the n52 during boss fights where I'll be having to mix healing with dpsing more often.

The n52 takes about 2-3 weeks to get used to I'd say, but after that (and once you have macro's and keymappings worked out in the way that suits you best) I would venture a guess that no-one would say they weren't an easier way to play.

do you find you have enough space to map all the keys you need?

I guess the answer is yes... but i haven't heard anyone speak to the less shift states issue yet?

Sorry, I don't actually have a te so I can't answer to the lesser shift states. I was just trying to answer how useful they are, but having said that since I only use the main state + red toggle I don't think I wouldn't have enough keys for immeadiate needs. I could see it getting to be a hassle perhaps if you don't use a keyboard at all.
