Not sure what you mean here. On my 5-box team, my main leads out, and the other 4 follow him. When I stop moving, typically the other 4 are standing right on top of each other, almost blending in to each other -- is that what you mean?
If that is, it's easily solved (not that it really needs to be solved) by re-binding your movement keys. See, I use the arrows to move around, and now W is bound to left-strafe for #2 shammy, right strafe for #3 shammy and backwards for #5 shammy. I move, and if I want to spread them out once I've come to a stop, I just press W.
I stay still (W is unbound on my main), #2 goes left, #3 goes right, #4 stays where he is, and #5 steps back a step, making for a "+" sign configuration.
It's usually at this point that if someone sees me they go "Wtf", since my Shammies are all identically equipped and configured.

G'evening Breki and welcome to the forums!
what do you mean, inside each other?
when they /follow .. they will naturally stack on top of each other, if that is what you mean. this does not cause any in-game problems... and could help in pvp by hiding your 'main' in the stack.
you could also use a 'formation' when you get ready to attack. a formation is a set of key bindings within wow, different for each clone, that will allow you to spread out your clones (diamond is a favorite)
if you have any questions, please feel free to drop me a note
have a great night

You can also make a follow train (One char follows main, one other follows that one char the next follows the second in line, etc.). Though this looks good, it isn't very practical.
there is no other way unfortunently.
There are formations you can use once you've stopped to spread them out, but when your following there all crammed ontop of each other.
Alternatively you can set them to follow someone different and have 1 massive train, but you would always get some stuck behind pillars and other bs.
