View Full Version : Finalizing Hardware Purchases for Three Boxing

I've got my three computers lined up to multi-box my five toons, but want to make sure of needs before making other purchases.

It appears that the Vetra multi-plexer is just a hardware version of the Keyclone software. I know that it's probably much faster, but if I can do the same thing with Keyclone to control three computers, I'll just go with that for now. I've just recently gotten the Xkeys Pro to utilize for additional keys. I think I'm set as far as having plenty of keys and keyboard control.

Having run my two box setup, my biggest complaint is having to use two mice to control the detail movement of actions between the two computers. There's a whole lot more to do with a mouse than just accepting quests. Is there a way using the Y-Mouse adapter or some other hardware to only use one mouse on three computers? I'm assuming a selector type KVM could be used to change to the computer you want to control. If so, does anyone have any recommendations?

My current plan for video is to simply using one system to control my main, the other two computers will run two instances each with one monitor each using Keyclone maximizer to put in two windows each on 20'' monitors.

It was amazing how the overall responsiveness of the system runs now with two computers instead of one. I'm hoping three will be as far as I have to take it for smooth PvE play.

Appreciate any help from experienced builders.

I am a user of synergy it suits my needs best to control multiple computers from one keyboard and mouse (F1 laptop on the left, F2 main pc, F3 laptop on the right). I have tried multiplicy in the past but I did not found it was as good as synergy. Maybe it has gotten better with newer versions, I dont know.

Hi dRiN,

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I was trying to get Synergy to work last night at 3AM (shouldn't do that 8| ). It was easy to setup, but it took a reboot of both systems to get it going. I do like the simplicity of it all. When I started it this morning, I had my first case of Synergy spin that I've read about. I'm guessing that this might go away if I assign key bindings to actually move between Windows instead of just letting it free float across machines.

Do you use keyclone in conjunction with all of this or Synergy alone? I've purchased three copies of Keyclone already and really like it. Plus I truly believe in supporting software makers like Keyclone since they do provide us great tools.
