View Full Version : create a PvE team and PVP team, or 1 team for both?
I have tried out 5 boxing on one pc in WoW for about a week now with some trial accounts and some temporary characters. After some tweeks, I got the hang of it and want to create my "main" 5 box team.
I want to experience both PVP content and PVE content, and I am struggling to make a descision on if I should make 2 teams for each form of content, or just make 1 team to do both.
For two teams I was thinking of the following:
PVE - (War)/priest (mabye druid)/3x mages (or shamies)
PVP - Pally (or war)/4x mages (or shamies)
Main reason I am kindov holding back on two teams is 1: I don't want both teams to have the same classes. 2: I already have a high level (62) war and pally.
For a hybrid group that I think could do both, I was thinking 1 druid, 4 shammies. I just don't know how effective in either PVP or PVE it would be. Also, I would like to put these guys on a different server, possibly PVP server. Never been on one before so I don't know if that will be a good idea or not.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, and possibly compensated with cake...........
ok, the cake's a lie.
Ugh...and I want some cake =P
Anyway, personally I have two teams. I have a 5x draenei shaman team for PVP and a Warlock/Priest/Mage/Druid/Paladin team for PVE. Both teams are on different PVP servers and like you, I've never been on one. I'm hoping people don't mess with me too much b/c I'm not sure how well I'd do with the PVE team. On the shaman team, I want people to attack me all the time b/c I've read here what they can do :)
I completely agree with you about not wanting the same classes in both teams. My main reason also for doing the complicated 5-class team was b/c at 70 if I want to run solo content I would have a wide variety of toons to choose from. I do know that having two teams will take a bit longer to level and gear but I'm ready for the challenge.
Since you're leaning towards 1 team, I'd start with your druid, 4x shaman team. That team would do great in PVE (I can imagine) and for PVP you can always just take the four shaman into the battlegrounds (if you can't handle having the druid there). If you've watched any of the videos here about the shaman crews, you can see how much they destroy people. Then once you get to 62ish you can swap out your druid for the pally. As far as I've read, pallies are the best tanks for multiboxers (AoE tanking ftw!) so you'll probably want him/her in the heroics.
Hope that helps and whatever you choose, good luck leveling!

In all honesty, I'd go for Pally + 4 Shamans. It's great for both PVE and PVP. You can choose to sit the Pally out for PVP for a little better movement, and hes a great tank for PVE content. I run a 5x Shammy setup, and while I can do most instances, some elites just crush me because I'm not a real tank (Durn the Hungerer, the last guy in Ring of Blood, etc).

Absolutely an awesome post.
I've been thinking about starting up another team myself for a number of reasons...
A: I want a pally tank on my main (#1) acct.
B: I have a 5th acct ready and waiting that I want to lvl up a resto shammy on who can then be..
C: used with my FIRST 4 shammies.
I still haven't decided on the set though. Seriously considering pally/3xSP/resto shammy - 5 ressers!!!
I've thought about it, and I think I might try two teams, but have them all be on the same server despite it bieng PVE.
Also, I think the composition would be as follows:
PVE: Pally:Priest:3xMage - I want solid croud controll abilities, and BE's have the ability to be all these classes.
PVP: Druid:4X shammies - I don't care about Crowd control, just raw nuking power combined with a durable main that can heal at times.
Additionally, while leveling, I can swap classes in and out if need be. Also, once at 62, I will have a 2 pallies (one for healing, one for tanking), 1 priest, 3 mages, 4 shamies, 1 war, 1 druid, and 1 hunter, so I got a nice variety for PVP or PVE
But, that leaves just one question for me in regards to PVP.....Which is better, mass mages or shamans? I would think that Mages would be given poly and severe nuking capability in comparison to a shaman.
or.....is it that both are so bad ass in thier own right that it doesn't really matter?

If you are going horde PvP you might want to make your mages and priest undead. WoTF > BE

I'd choose shamans over mages for pvp for the following reasons.
Chain armour versus cloth. Ability to heal themselves and each other. Grounding totems, means casters are going to struggle to even hit you before you burn them down. I would also go for the shamans to watch the enemy cry when they get 5 sets of natures swiftness, elemental mastery lightning bolt/chain lighting at once :)
In fairness I've never levelled a mage past the mid 30s, so don't have the expertise on the pvp strengths of a mage. Would it be a case of going fire spec and just hitting them with 5 firebolts (and if you get time a pyroblast).
I would also choose shamans for PVE'ing instances/heroics. It seems to me by having 5 shamans you can do a lot of the 5 man content, and level a pally tank so that you can swap out 1 of the shamans on the tougher bosses.
