Is anyone planning on picking one of these up? Mind controlling your movement would sure make multiboxing easier. It appears that it's not quite out yet, I can't find it on the company's website, but it sounds like it's in production and coming soon. Here's an article with some more info:

http://www.overclock3d.net/news.php?/input_devices/ocz_prepares_neural_impulse_actuator_for_shipping_ next_week/1

The article says they're going to go for a surprisingly low $300 US. A quick product search on google is showing several places with them listed at about half that, but no one seems to have it in stock so who knows.

Update: Managed to find a press release on the company's site. Says they demoed it and started taking orders at CeBIT 2008, which was about a month and a half ago.

It's surprisingly low in cost because its surprisingly low in resolution and granularity. The idea is great and will improve but for now the reality of it is going to be more like Powerglove v2.0.

Where did you come by that information? I'd love to know as I'm considering the NIA and if that's true, I'll not buy it.

Read reviews on it, use common sense, understand how noisy the brain is, ignore the hype, etc.

Note that this requires you to train your brain to make this machine work.

You'll look like a degenerate trying to train this! xD

Seriously though, yeah, there's potential for this technology. But they aren't anywhere near gaming standards yet. xP

I was quite critical of the NIA until I read reviews. Most of the material I was able to find suggests it is pretty decent. Most of my criticism stems from the same line of thought as your commentary I've quoted here, too.
