View Full Version : Which way = Quicker way to 70..
As you know I've been dual-boxing my mages, they're sitting close to lvl 30 now on both.
Just wondering seeing as I have 70s on the same server if it would be quicker to boost 1 on 2nd account through instances leveling him up to 70 then boosting my other mage on my main account with the 2nd account mage
Or would it be quicker just to continue leveling dual-boxing and questing them?

From my research, it would appear that the XP penalty wouldn't be worth it unless the 70 was on a seperate account.
If the party is lowbie+lowbie+70 then the XP penalty will still be bad, but not self-defeating. If it's just lowbie+70 then from what I've seen it's no faster than normal levelling.
This is assuming you're not using the pally/mage tricks in instances to get a single lowbie full XP for kills.

Which do you like better, instance grinding or questing? If the former, then by all means, PL them. If the latter, then just do quests except for the tedious collection quests. If you speed quest, it's faster than being solo PLed by a 70 in most cases.

someone needs to write a guide on how to quest to 60+ without doing collection quests. From what i have seen.. if you do not do collection quests, then you will end up having to grind. I do every quest in an area ..including instances and all collection quests and im right where i should be level wise.

Powerleveling each toon seperatly instead of leveling normally together might be faster upto about level 45ish. But after that it won't be worth it anymore much, I think.
I've so far doen all quests in Hellfire Peninsula + Zangarmarsh + Terokkar and just started in Nagrand. I've had a few quests that were pretty annoying. Terrokar wolf furs, etc. But it's worth doing them for follow ups and such. I would strongly recommend doing the collection quests too in Outlands. Sure it's a bit repetative, but you grind through the other quests quickly anyhow. :p And the exp is still worth it in Outlands.
Leveling in Azeroth upto 60, I couldn't be bothered myself either though. But Outlands is different. xP

If the OP does want to quest up to 70 I highly recommend using a lvling guide. James from www.wow-pro.com puts up some great FREE guides for both horde and alliance. I personally use Brian Kopp's guide for leveling alliance though, it's better imo than James' guide but you do have to pay for it.
Either way I actually PL my toons anyways seeing as I have 2 paladins and a mage on 3 different accounts and I might as well.

So if you don't do any collection quests at all you're really limiting the amount of quests you can do while making your questing circuits while your're away from town less profitable xp wise as you will have fewer quests per circuit.
Powerlevel using quests after level 20.
Group up, get a 60/70 and just start going through quests as fast as possible. Make sure you get something like Questhelper to set quest routes for you to maximize your time. the majority of your XP will by far come from quests, so just knock them out as fast as possible.
On that note, a hunter would technically be the fastest power leveler then correct?
Think it would be worth it for me to Xfer over my 70 hunter to the server to use him for that purpose? heh

30 sadly
Mages also get teleportation and portals at various levels that can greatly speed things up.
But above and beyond all the gimcks, GET QUESTHELPER. :DRather not. Don't need questhelper lol

Mage's blink = ~30% run speed if you use it every cooldown. (my bro's mage raced my hunter, they tied)
After 1.5 yrs of heavy pvp on my hunter I know, in the long term, (15 secs or longer), aspect of the pack/cheetah > blink :D
