Had a go through the Mage Boosting Madness thread but didn't find a decent answer to what I wanted.
Essentially I'm looking to 'boost' my characters all the way to 60. Currently they are 31 and at 40-45 I was planning on hitting a new instance as I can enter pretty much anything at that level.
As options I have either a Prot Pally or a Mage. My Shaman are all healers and my usual trick is to sit them somewhere, round up a load of mobs, kill them while the Shamans spam heals on the PL Character.
At 40-45 where is my best option? Strath? Scholo? BRD?
Thanks for any advice.
Not quite sure how well geared your pally is but I personally did boosted in ZF from 40-50 in shockadin gear with shamans dpsing and healing. Key is to find good places to LoS the casters and burn them down super quick. Once the casters start running though I use the shamans to snipe em all down as the casters won't stop running in fear and never reaggro your main. A problem definitely worth mentioning is that the "Shadow Hunters" in ZF can still hex your Booster toon which does not break on dmg and will cause your main to lose aggro while hexed for 8 seconds. To get around this I avoided pulling shadow hunters where possible, had a /target shadowhunter macro (must have exact mob name of course), and used a /cancelaura Divine Shield /cast Divine Shield macro which I saved on pulls with lots of hunters just in case they did get a hex off.
So other than casters continually running in fear and hexes I thought It was a great place to boost. The fact that you can mount up makes it easy to grab a large amount of mobs very quickly.

What Tdog said, 40-50 in ZF is nice and if you cant dps threw the totems just make a macro for your alts and let them DPS them down. 50 - 60 is BRD i think.
Also wanted to mention that I would probably only go to about 48 in ZF and start is BRD till about 53.
At 53 I would only clear out all the aoe packs on the way from the main entrance over to the service entrance on the undead side. Then reset run back to the main entrance and do it all over again. I'd do this till 55 then farm live side if you like till 58. Make sure you back your alts up against a wall or in a corner or something cuz the constant charges from the Guardsmen is ridiculous. You can also tank the mobs right next to the shamans so they don't keep getting charged constantly as there isn't much aoe in the parts with guardsmen.
At 58 I went straight to Ramparts. You will be pulling fewer mobs but you get SOOO much more xp from each elite in here. I was getting around 580xp per mob at 58 with a 70 booster. And that will easily take you to 60 and probably even all the way up to 62 along with getting you some BC blues :)

Hello. I have just boosted my 3 shammys with my 70 feral druid and part my 70 elemental shammy. And lvl 40 to 50 is just slow as hell.. Nothing much you can do about it.. I did ZF till 45, and then i power quested them from there.. Just take all the non gathering quests with your 70 to make it for fast as hell.. that is my best advice.. I did some BRD, baron, ST, etc.. but it seems that it was going way to slow as they start to deal so much dmg, and when you are pulling larger amounts of grps there will normaly be a few that runs away in fear and chain pull others and they normal runs right for you alts.. So go do some power questing after ZF, and then when you hit 50 start the Onyxia prequest chain which will eventualy send you a few times into BRD. Do not miss out that chain even if you might not want it done or finish it all up.. it is some insane xp for a lvl 50 as it was intend to be done at 58-60...
ZF just sucked to me using a prot pally..damn totems, so I went to st and just pulled all the dragon kin over and over, more or less same as sm type xp for a prot pally.

Edit : In ZF i was going full 5boxing all casters, 70moonkin, 3x40-45lvl shammys, and a 70 shammy. Cleared all as fast as posibol, mostly skipped bosses ex stairs (on stairs i runed down with my 70 shammy and poped a fire elemenetal which owned those 50 mobs or what ever in seconds, lots of fun ;P)
doesnt 2 70's kill the xp tho?
As far as ZF goes I wanted to point out that I did this on a prot-specced paladin in shockadin gear. With my consecrations ticking for around 200 instead of a mere 95 that it ticks for in my actual tanking gear I tore the mobs health down very quickly and healing totems did very little to heal them. Also finding good places to LoS the casters you can contiunally move the casters away from totems if you need. It was never once a problem for me. You wouldn't even need an actualy shockadin set as a decent healing set should have enough spell dmg on it to do just fine. After my shockadin set began to break I started to switch it out with my healing set and it wasn't a problem either.

doesnt 2 70's kill the xp tho?Yes, but it speed it up alot and if you skip bosses and go nuke nuke nuke it wasnt bad. The idea is to kill as many mobs as asap, reset and go again :D

I usually move to Scholomance around that level but it really depends which high lvl toons you got available.
With my Furry Warrior I do the first three rooms and then reset the instance which takes me about 20 minutes and gives about 25%-30% XP/lvl if I recall that correctly.
If you do the Herald you get at least one Large Brilliant Shard which sells quite nice too, not counting the Runecloth.
Being Alliance the flightpath at Aerie Peak is just great since taking the slope through the mountains takes only about 5min to get to Scholo.

I guess my main prob at zf was I pulled the whole instance like I did in sm. I was able to tank it np, but there were just too many totems to surpass ( I want to say my cons ticks for 160ish? in my reg tank set). I dont like having to do pulls of 20ish mobs or grp by grp, so I went to st where I can go pull all the dragonkin in 1 pull and kill em. Now if I took 2 70s i, then I could see it working np in zf, just always figured it'd kill xp so much.

With your sunken temple pulls where you using a Prot Pally or a Mage? I have access to both.
I dont have the heal on block trinket yet though.
When you are doing your pulls in either ST or Scholo/Stratholme - are you leaving your lowbies at the start and dragging a big pile of mobs back to them? I essentially want to keep levelling the same way I am right now in SM and just find a good instance to keep resetting. Would prefer to do things in one huge pull or a few big pulls than little packs at a time as I find this slow and boring even if its faster than questing.

prot pally for me and yeh I leave the nubs in a spot and pull a huge grp back to them... them move the nubs up to another safe spot and pull again (if i need 2 pulls.. I do st in 2 pulls)

I pulled ZF in 3 pulls, entrance > Fountain. Fountain > GY. Then inbetween the two waves on the event I pulled the rest of the zone to the pyramid.
I just ran a big circle around the zone back to ent..and a few reset but not many had prob 10 total reset
... I know I wish theyd reset..dont know how many times Ive been eaten on my lowbies trying to run out
