The game Age of Conan looks really nice from what it shows at http://www.ageofconan.com ('http://www.ageofconan.com/')
Friends of mine have been waiting for that game to get released and it's now set for the 20th of May, 2008. From the description, looks like the melees will be very hard to box if at all. However, the casters may be able to be boxxed. I'm planning to check it out this weekend and will post a follow up on my findings if anyone is interested. May even try Octopus with it.

I ordered from gogamer.com they reduce the price by 5 bucks so the $5 dollar early access is included in the cost.
Also, FYI, there is NO /follow in the game atm.

I'm hoping to pick up the war Rhino soon, but none of the Best Buys around here have any preorder boxes.
I'm really hoping AoC will match up to DAoC... back when people played.

Do let us know how well it runs. I'm dying to see how this game turns out relative to Vanguard.

I played both the VG beta and the AOC beta... AoC is no where near as buggy as VG.
I just got into the open beta as well... so Ill report how it fairs and check again for a /follow

Like i have said in other posts. I two boxed EQ ( Warrior and cleric ) before they added /follow. I had to run them both and control them both at the same time. It was not easy. in fact it was a pain in the ass. But in eq you normally went to a 'camp" spot and stayed there for hours sometimes. So getting there was sucky but once you got there it was easy mode. Conan not having /follow or even auto attack or auto targeting wont stop me from playing two acnts. Ill figure out a way to get use out of a healer.. even if hes just a tradeskill/bank bot. I think if enough people talk about it.. they will add /follow at some point. There are "non multibox" reasons to have /follow. I ordered two CEs hehe...oh well..we'll see!
ohh and im in the open beta as well!

Well if you arent using it already Keyclone will be helpful even without /follow if you have a single box. At least you can keep characters running in the same direction with a single button. Syncronized combos will probably be dificult to pull off without some configuring.

I'll be in the open beta as well. FilePlanet stole my $$...hopefully I can find some use for it besides the open beta :(

Looks like I won't be able to post my findings because I can't play yet. I was hoping to get to play the beta but no notice on it.
May not be able to play until the 20th.

I am in the beta now but there is no scripting or emotes in the game yet as far as i can tell. I am assuming there will be something because at the moment there is not even /assist. The game is beautiful though but it is clearly still playing a beta version.

It does have assist, check the keybindings ;)
But yeah lots of unfinished things.. I love seeing stuff labeled '%DescriptionString%' and things like that. :P

its a crude beta client. From what I'm hearing the Close Beta client is leaps and bounds ahead of the FilePlanet Open Beta client. We arn't even running Cheeta2.0.
So far I love the game, got a lvl 13 ranger, barbarian and a Bear Shaman. Tonight is pvp till I pass out at the keys.
Shout when they push a new client Gurb, Im done. 8-10 hours of play and probably 40+ crashes.
Game looks good and fun, its gonna be boxable, but not at a competitive level like wow. Still havent found any type of macro system, but there is an assist command which can be tied to any hotkey. Also I didnt like how some of the keys on the keyboard couldnt be bound (reserved keys sucks).
Accomplishing stuff like assistcasting lightning bolts and shit on targets should be easy, but I have no answer for how to do movement. Just have to wait and see if they build more options into the final client.
Edit: There is collision detection in the game, but it is a very forgiving one. You could run straight at someone, but instead of getting totally blocked, you just sorta bounce around them. I think a follow command could work well even with this.

First post here, been reading for a while, but saw this thread and thought I would add.
In closed beta atm (nda says I can talk about stuff upto lvl13), from what it looks /follow and /assist are commands ingame atm, /follow is just not implemented yet (on this beta client anyway).
The biggest problem as a spellcaster with multiple accounts (planning 3, 2 demonologists and a Priest of Mitra) the big AE nukes are ground targeted, you click the spell and have to click the ground to get them to fire.
Not familiar with keyclone (I used synergy to dual box dark age of camelot) can it pass a mouse click through to other clients, or is somethign else needed?
Played around a bit with keyclone and octopus now, together they should do what I want, most of the spells are either grp ae heals/HoTs or ground targeted AE, so as long as I have /follow I should be fine :)

From what I have seen and played, Conan will be able to be multi-boxed BUT I don't think it will be fun. I have played all of the classes so far and caster would be the easiest to MB, or the Old school Melee/healer. Again, the combat mechanics are so involved that doing anything other than controlling that one character would get old real fast IMO. I have two copies on order, I will give it a shot. But i am way more excited about WotLK at this point.

That's great, Darthane. I'd post that information on the main Dual Boxing forum if I were you - I almost didn't see it tucked away in here :)

Ok, played the game all weekend, Im at a little over 24 hours played.
The game currently has some issues with ATI cards. Nvidia works fine. Other than that... rather flawless release. (I guess I should say pre-release as its technically not out till tomorrow).
As for gameplay, its a hoot, I havent had this much fun since Asheron's Call. The FFA pvp is an absolute riot.
Linear gameplay... more or less, but not more than WoW. You quest in a zone, you move to the next rinse and repeat. There are three races, and you can do the quests in all three of them... so technically, you can get to 80 in stygian area, then make a new toon and get a completely different game in one of the other two races areas.
Questing in this game is different than WoW the zones feel huge (after you get out of tortage) and you can literally quest in one zone for upwards of 15 levels. If you thought WoW had a lot of quests AoC takes it to the extreme. You can also turn the zone your hunting in into an epic zone. Think Heroic instances in WoW accept an open zone. Imagine turning Outlands into a heroic, doing quests there and getting better loot and EXP.
I havent gotten to crafting or town building yet... but as I stated in beta there is no /follow so boxing is pretty much out.

if AoC ends up playing well i may drop wow

I played in EA and absolutely love the game. I haven't thought about running it on my other 5 computers yet, as I really don't think you'll get the most out of your characters by multiboxing it, but perhaps in time that will change.
I *almost* called in sick today to play, but meh........hopefully they don't patch tonight right when I get home from work like yesterday.
it's vast and not linear. You can grind or quest, although questing will get you levels faster. There are so many quests, you find yourself running all over, which gets you familiar with the landscape.
I can't speak for the end-game yet, but I think it's a hit.

Easiest way to PL in this game is to quest one account like mad, get it to max level for an area, then use the apprentice system (like lackeying and sidekicking in City of Villains/Heroes) to boost your lowbies level and then run around and tear apart any mob you need to.
So far multi boxing seems a bit of a bust, although if you can get the hang of steering on 2 screens at once (usually a common move forward key, separate turn keys) you can start to reap the rewards of some classes very well, the necromancer is one of the best, with lots of pbae spells and pets able to be set to "assist me" you can just run onto a spawn and start dropping mobs.
Yet to try the group level zones, supposedly just more mob HPs, will have to look into this.

Runs like crap on my current system, looks ok, but at the moment i have to run it with everything turned down to the lowest setting for smooth gameplay, the install lasted almost an hour but i was surprised i was able to get it up and patched withing 3 hours (i have slow wireless isp)
/Where is Purolator with my new system!!!!!
