View Full Version : What to upgrade
Well I'm not extremely computer hardware savvy for knowing what's best for the best performance for multiboxing on 1 computer so could use some help of what to upgrade to get better performance.
Here's some specs on what I'm running, need anything else just ask and if you can include where to find it ;)
Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Ram: 2GB
Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz
Monitor: 24" Sceptre X24WG
(Using Windows XP SP2)

Add another 2GB of ram and a good dual core or quad core processor and you should be set for basic setup.

2gigs is enough for 2 accounts, if you want to box 5 you will need more, and like he said, at least a dual core processor.
yeah, I was thinking of upgrading my processor anyways so that's a definite 1 I'm interested in doing. Anything else you can think of Ked?
If you're going to run 5 accounts - go quad core.
(or build 5 PCs)Nah I'm planning on sticking with dual-boxing, maybe 3 later on but for now 2, probably never 5 even though I'm sure I'd enjoy it, just don't have the $$ for $75/month to play WoW =P heh
So anyone have a good recommendation on a good processor for me that isn't expensive? ^^ feel free to link any if you do, thanks!

i love amd, but intel has been kicking amd's butt lately, if you are going to upgrade on your current motherboard you will need to stick with intel. and you will 5 box one day, i said the same thing like 6 months ago when i first started doing 2 at once, and now it's 5... it's just a matter of time before it gets you lol :P
I even thought about opening up 5 more accounts so i could try doin kara solo, but after i thought about it it wasen't possible to control that many tanks, for me anyways.
Anyways, didn't mean to rant, i run 5 toons fine on one pc if i need to, i have 2.4 dual core, and 2 gigs of ram, with a 8800 gtx card, but if i'm at home i have a second pc set up almost identical to it so i can kinda spread out the work load.
Hope that helps
figured this would happen, course my mother board doesn't support new processors so.. who wants to give me specific suggestion on motherboard & processor that work well together to get without spending a fortune? :)
thanks for all the help btw guys ^^

Ahh I had assumed you meant 5-boxing. 2GB is enough for 2 or 3 boxing. 4 boxing would be pushing it and 5 just doesn't work.

Also dont read into the few bad reviews on this package. Everything works just fine on first try. People that gave bad reviews almost assuredly have no clue how to install the thing and overlook the power connections and then it doesent post. I had absolutely no trouble with this exact setup. I also added 2 geforce 8800gt gpus, a 75- watt pws and 2 500gb sata drives. I already had a ODDand thermaltake armour case and everything ended up just great
