View Full Version : So, after the policy change, go back to DualBox without broadcasting, any idea of 2man comp ?

Well, we don't like it, but there is a new policy.
While the term used are extremely vague ("streamline multi-boxing in any way"), i still believe that it does not forbid multiboxing itself as long as there is no broadcasting input.
But, let's face it will be really hard to get unban if you get reported, even if you do all you can to respect the tos.

So, i plan to scale back from 5boxing to 2box.

While that mean i loose the ability to do dungeon, that also come with some advantage.

First : Move control and battlegrounds
With dual box, you can control both of your character movement at the same time, i tested it and yeah it's doable. So you remove follow in BG ? Not a problem anymore.

Second : Discretion
Even if you follow the new rule, i guess any boxer would want to avoid reports. With 2box, the ability to do individual move, it will be a lot more difficult to spot a boxer. Especially if at least one of your character is a melee.

So now, what 2-man team should i play ?

I'm thinking of Rogue + Druid
- I like having stealth on my team to compensate the nerf of raw power with the element of surprise in wpvp.
- The druid will be resto, or maybe resto/balance, it's good to have a character that could fit multiple role.
Con-side : The rogue will be a pain to micro manage with combo point i guess ?

Druid + Druid ?
Probably easier to play and more easy to integrate into instance group. But you loose some DPS.

Pal + Sham ?
No stealth, but quite solid, and the pal give you the ability to boost extra char

other ideas ? any opinion ?

I think doing any kind of boxing in any PVP environment is just asking to get banned.

Personally going forward, if I continue multiboxing, I will only have my characters together in instances with the exception of maybe having a level 20+ Warlock summoner+2 low level alts helping me bring my characters (1 at a time) somewhere (or any warlock(s) in my party doing something similar).

Regarding duos a well geared Paladin+Shaman may be the most successful Hybrid duo in farming instance related content. I like the idea of being able to pop a Guardian totem and have 2 mechanisms for wipe protection (Paladin self sacrifice and Shaman self reincarnation) and both being rezzers helps.

That being said I think Druid+Druid is the most flexible Duo as both characters can speced do 4 roles (Tank, Melee DPS, Ranged DPS, & Healer though not well at the same time) and regardless of spec can do stealth which may actually help considering all the hate there is out there and how reporting from other players may factor into the process.

If you do go Druid+Druid you can from a single spec be able to be a Decent Tank, Melee DPS, & off/emergency Heals (if you spec Nurturing Instincts) and if you get just 2 pieces of Tier 5 you can instant cast Regrowth when power shifting/regular shifting to help. Druid+Druid (not boxed) is actually what I think I am going to try to get my brother and I to focus on for TBC as it opens up more/better options from just 2 characters...

Speaking (er typing) of Druids, the following has a good breakdown of Druid feral talents and the various spec options (being PVP/PVE/both and across the spectrum of pure Bear Tank to pure Cat DPS and anywhere in between):

I did the above research and analysis for my brother and I and figured sharing it may help you and/or others considering Druids...

Well, i don't think anyone could tell that i control both character actually, they will just think i don't play very well.
If i can and find a group, i'm gonna test my theory while leveling in low level instance with some random people.

Good point.

I leveled a team of 5 druids in classic as feral, it was a LOT of fun, but the dps was kinda low, and powershifting is a hell to do while boxing.
I don't know if that change with TBC.

I don't know if that change with TBC.Yeah I think it will be difficult to do well. You could maybe Tank with the Bear Druid and dump all Rage and then switch to the cat client and dump all energy and then power-shift-with-instant-regrowth on the Bear and then go back to the bear to dump rage (rinse-repeat)...

That or just run normally a single cat with the other druid in tow periodically thowing HoTs... If running Predatory Intincts the cat gets +20% heals and if the incoming damage is too high the cat can shift to Bear...

Likely not going to be super great but if you can skip much of the content and get ore/herbs and go straight to bosses it may be OK.

An other option that i consider is Hunter + Druid.
You loose the ability to do stealth, but still with the NE bonus, you still could do ambush.
Hunter dps rotation is easy to macro, it do a lot of damage in PVE and to gear it for raid, you only got to get 4 blue dungeon piece (beast lord gear bonus).
I guess, with the pet and a druid around, you got a lot of flexibility for open world.
The bad things are deadzone (even if that's only 5 yard now).
