Hi,

I've been reading the stickys and other FAQs, but have not found answers to my questions. I'm really (and I quote "really") new to dual-boxing, so would like to request help from experts.

I plan to run 2 characters at the same time (mostly to power level alts), so literally dual-boxing is sufficient.

I run Windows Vista, nVidia 256mb card, 2GB Ram and Dual Core 2.2Ghz.

1. Do I need to buy more than 1 copy of WoW AND Burning Crusade or can I copy&paste existing installed version for Dual-Boxing?

2. Can I use WoW-Maximizer to run 2 windows inside the same monitor (19" LCD), or can I run both in Windows-Mode and resize/tile them?

3. Do I need key-cloning programs (keycloen, autohotkey) to send signals to 2 clients of WoW? Or, can I use Synergy program to move my mouse to 2nd client of WoW and enable usage for that client?

Thanks in advance for your answers (and patience).

1: Yes and no. Yes, you need more than 1 ACCOUNT so you sorta have to buy the boxes for a new cdkey to make a new acct(and get a free month with the original wow cdkey) or send yourself a Recruit-a-Friend invite/trial account(but no free month on the main account without a box upgrade); no, you can run off a single, lone installation of the WoW program, I do :p

2: Yeah you can do it manually or with Maximizer, Maximizer's a little more efficient about it

3: Yeah, though I think Synergy can send keys as well, but I don't know for sure. There's alot of options, Synergy should be enough I'd asusme, but again I only have experience with AHK and keyclone :p

Welcome and good luck ;)

Hey! Thanks for the quick reply.

What I meant for Q1 was if I needed to buy another retailed copies of the 2 games. From your response, it seemed that all I need is the "key"? What I plan to do is buy one of the game cards and set up another account.

I will try Synergy and AutoHotKey first, as I would rather not pay for Keyclone (sorry for being cheap).

I hope to power level and stop there, so I'm looking for the easiest way to set up and get going.

Thanks.

I don't think the gamecards will work as they only renew existing accounts; you need a cdkey(gamecard keys are diff I figure) and used to create a new account; if you already have 2 accounts(and they're yours/same name/billing info/email; if not you risk them being banned for acct sharing) yeah a gamecard will work, all the chars are on different accounts since you can only log on 1 char per account at a time.

And nothin wrong with using non-Keyclone alternatives, I started with AHK cuz I was cheap too ;) Plus it's better to use the free stuff while you learn then move up later once you're sure you'll be committed to it; I don't regret upgrading to Keyclone, makes things aloooooooooot easier once I was sure I would be boxing for a long time lol

All of the game card boxes I've used came with a 10-day free trial key. You could then make the account using the trial key, then immediately digitally upgrade it to WowClassic, then immediately digitally upgrade it again to Burning Crusade - if for some reason you didn't want (or couldn't) use the refer-a-friend method out of your main account.
