Dear All,

I have some concerns over my shaman team when they hit 60, due to the PvP changes with /follow, we all have to use tank setups to progress with somewhat entry level gear as BG's are not realistic unless you want to mess around with movement broadcasting which is not fun at all. This destroys the fun for me.

Sure its fun leveling shaman up to 45, then it gets harder where your just dying towards end bosses and its sloppy.

The burning question is, are shaman in classic considering Bg's are not just realistic anymore unless i bleed my patience. Can this setup obtain good enough gear without regular bg's for world pvp? (BiS) Solo?

Can we do dungeons up to BRD/LBRS etc with elementals?

I have done shaman long long ago but mostly leveled and farm bg's and questing with ocassional dungeon grinds, but i want to have a strong shaman team with good enough gear to take on open world pvp with available dungeons gear that i can actually farm?

I feel the gear available is poor in most dungeons, and by 60, most is limited and is it a case of AH?

Being Elemental is harder than enhanced sham due to the lack of items for them (spell power / hit for exemple).
It was a easier when classic was out and no one was geared. But now to compete with ppl who can easily gear in ZG/AQ.

I think it won't be a problem to do BRD/LBRS, but you should go there with one or two level above to be in a safe position.
Or if you are rich enough to buy some LQE to get some great stat for that.

Totems will be super important and as an advice get a mage for your consumables ^^ ! (mana hungry).

As you mentionned before, I'm a bit confused about the /follow ... And I think I will stop my 5 sham TBC project because of that (for arena purpose). It will be to risky so i'll switch on a regular team for dungeons.

I can weigh in here whilst my shaman team is not 60 I main a shaman and created a lot of pre raid BIS lists for PvP/PVE for the community and a very solid understanding of gearing, stat weights phase gear etc.

Current phase this is how I would go without touching a raid. There is a TON of great upgrades in AQ20/ZG both easily possible for you to get into and grab but i have gone off the assumption you touch nothing outside of 5 mans. Briarwood is also something you can solo with your 5 shaman team as is every other bit of gear on this list.

There are some slight adjustments you can make if you wish to farm/pay more for smaller upgrades (things like UBRS + Damage shield/Darkmoon faire Neck/T1 Bracers).

6 Items on this list come from quests, two come from cheap BOEs and a 9th from a boe + quest (tier 0.5 bracers). This gives you a well rounded amount of Stam/Spell power for PvP and will smash any 5 man.

Remember you get all the + Hit you need for PvP from talents as shaman (3%) any extra just frees up talent points however these can only be used in resto as anything but 30/0/21 or 31/0/20 is garbage for elemental PvP).

my other 4 shamans hit 60 today, got almost full nature's wrath gear (+200), dm class trinkets and stamina/int in the other slots...its like a ~120 dps difference to full aq gear but still does very well (470 vs 350 average dps in lbrs). My last boss killed was wyrmthalak who lasted a total of 10.05 seconds with 799,721, 697, 656 and 525 dps... as long as you have a mage to supply with water that team does totally fine in dungeons.

Havent tried scholo so far but strat living and especially ud are kind of easier than with the warriors. To come back on topic, if you're not up to raiding 5 times a week its hard to really get any good mail spelldmg gear...and to be honest no one is gonna take 5 elementals to a raid so either accept the fate to stick to dungeons /t0.5 questline to get half decent elemental gear or play them solo as elemental healer hybrid (means healing 90% of the time) to eventually get full elemental gear, which will still not convince anyone to bring 5 elementals in a raid. To me that team is quite useless in classic but i enjoy it for now and will eventually be necessary for tbc :)

And honestly fuck follow in battlegrounds, Im having a blast standing in flagroom grinding kills, like the best thing we can do in tbc to grind full pvp gear for arena is having multiboxer premades and you just go for the fast loss with as much kills as possible...that would also reduce the amount of complaints against multiboxer because technically no one suffers from this as long as you do it in a premade.

I'd go for the jagged obsidian shield its really cheap and better imo, it can procc on aoe spells I tested it on arcane explosion so in both pve and pvp aoe bombing has 5 times the chance on getting silienced. I havent tested long enough to have an estimate on its inner cd however, it might be around 30-45 seconds.

I think i will have better time gearing from a better community.

do we have a poll on where we all are as in terms of realms? like a poll?

Would be nice to join another mb realm where we can all raid/pvp, im in public guilds and i get very mixed views on a daily basis and ocassion slander

All MB focused guilds have fell apart from what I can tell. Hardcore guilds are usually the most conducive to the playstyle. It's easier to fill out alt raids with your main guild than to find a MB only raids. Most people rather have several geared "mains" than put the effort to raiding 5x.

We really don't play nice together, lol. There's a very "I can do it all on my own" mentality that doesn't mesh well with 40 mans.

that’s a shame, the guild I’m in and the founder and officers are happy with me forming a raid with me involved so as you say, probably best stay with them and see what happens.

i am considering increasing my team to 10man, but I would feel it may become too anti social.

yep, having my main in a good raid guild allowed me to eventually bring my warriors to zg idol/mount runs and mc garr+geddon where i got free loot on a bit zg gear and obsidian edged blade because most people come with their mains and I fill up emty slots. Its not quite the multibox experience I wanted to have in classic but Im still fine with getting all the gear with minimal effort. Tbc is going to be a different story though, 5 boxer can get good gear without relying on raids, especially because elemental shamans pvp gear does very well in pve and the whole badge of justice system.

I would presume a melee group would be far more challenging to bring along with raid mechanics?

This was my setup on ele shams at 60 after converting from enhanc (I was able to finish all dungeons as enhance). https://sixtyupgrades.com/set/owmEfsCnV5iPyS8QLLD13x
you can complete all dungeons with a setup like this. I was able to farm up mats for SP enchant on those maces as well. I prefer the shields as they’re all pretty tanky with that. I’ve since completed ZG numerous weeks with my guild and you do just fine, just eternally thirsty. Mana pots are important for longer fights like hakkar (as well as deranking LB to r4 for mana conserve phases) or swapping one shaman to resto as I often did for manatide.

There's a very "I can do it all on my own" mentality that doesn't mesh well with 40 mans. The only exception I have found recently is EU Zandalar Tribe rPVP Horde. The started gaining steam fairly recently and seem to be going pretty strong with multiple 5box & 10box teams at cap though I think multiple members have recently caught alt-itus &/ real-life-itus slowing things down... I think the largest raids they have actually fielded so far are 15-20 so time will tell if they actually start doing 40mans.
